Thank you. I was an RN & my back was broken on the job 10 years ago. The fight went out of me. The struggle is real. Not only mentally but spiritually. There are rough days which seem to out number the good days. You have inspired me to make the choice to fight the depression and pain. I will keep watching your story. Hi Dawn, RN here also. Although it didn’t happen on the job, I’ve had several spinal injuries & reconstructive surgeries . It is HARD work…..Every day. I also have a type of autoimmune arthritis which causes so much pain and inflammation . You’ll be in my prayers❤.

I had nothing like David. Only a large herniated disc with severe sciatica from nerve impingement. I too was once an RN then Nurse Practitioner. I replied like others because I was so impressed and happy that joy came after all the pain and he WALKED again when he wasn't supposed to!!! I later learned I had severe osteoarthritis of my spine, had to give up a fabulous job way sooner than I thought, but like David, I carried on and worked hard to "make a comeback" in spite of my pain. I needed a fusion at L4-5, some years later the surgeons had to do another fusion at C6-7. The neck & shoulders are okay, but they say only a BIG surgery will fix my low back this time. Thank God for pain management! As long as I am mobile, no risky surgery for me. And thanks to David, I too will keep overcoming.
You are living proof that the human spirit can overcome anything. Such an inspiration.

DAVID your amazing..I was hit by a drunk driver and still 20yrs later am suffering from the aftermath I still have limits but was told I wouldn't walk or use my left arm but I can walk and I do use my arm ! You fight because you have to right.

Alexis: I’m 73. 6 weeks ago I entered the hospital with a pulmonary embolism perched right on top of BOTH my lungs. No one expected me to live. Seriously. Well, I had great doctors AND the Universe on my side and I’m still here! An old friend in a wheelchair told me many years ago to NEVER give up. His EXACT words were: HOPELESSNESS IS ALWAYS PREMATURE.
I’ve never forgotten his words. Don’t YOU forget them either! Today’s hope may become tomorrow’s reality! A year ago someone with my condition would have died. Medicine advances CONTINUALLY! Alexis, maybe the Universe has a cure for YOU coming right up! We can HOPE for that, honey! 🌹❤️🌹

No my friend a focused mind is the most powerful force on earth. I want to say how beautiful this story is but how can I when I know the pain and suffering he must have went through. I do not want to disrespect him in anyway so I guess the way I should say it is what a beautiful person he is. Strong as hell and I admire that. I’m a recovering pain pill junky I was the RB for LSU football and I severed my right wrist main artery and every ligament and tendon in my arm. I lost 75% of my blood . I took the pain meds as far as one can take them and I shouldn’t be alive. My body was done but it was my mind that got me through it. I just wish I would have had this story for motivation. I’m 6 years 11 months clean n sober. Almost 3 years ago I was hit by a 18 wheeler log truck and it instantly knocked out 27 teeth and broke my jaw hip and both feet. And I had to struggle everyday with do I keep my word to my family and most important god and Jesus and stay clean n sober. Or do I risk becoming a junky again just to ease the pain. For once I kept my word...godbless you and Godspeed brother...
I’ve been fighting depression for years and came across your story last night and it flipped a switch in my head. I was diagnosed with a rare cancer nine years ago which changed my life forever, I was diagnosed with heart failure in July 2021, all of this has put me in a tornado of depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc….
Thank you for sharing your story, your strength, it puts things in a different perspective and I’m grateful for that. God obviously saved you and healed you for a reason and a purpose and you definitely aren’t letting him down! God bless you 🙏🏼

What an inspiring life race you have truly Run, I have s a son who went through a "life ending" injury working in the oil fields in West Texas, it was the worst thing I have ever gone trough. But he amazed me by the way he attacked PT. I was humbled by him and felt guilt for thinking he wouldn't live, then, when he did, I doubted he would walk again. He did it all !!! And went on to marry and have two children. I don't believe God fixed him, bc then, why not fix every injured person. My son did it because his own soul made him believe he could and he did.
David's such a gentle soul . Wishing him the best in all that he wishes to do .

You are Blessed with a heart of a Lion.. Your story I understand so well.. My daughter was hit by a 18 wheeler at 17 and paralized from the waist down.. She just turned 39 this week.. My dad was a quadrapalegic after a spinal cord injury for 18 years of my life and died 2 weeks after my 20th birthday. It been 5 years since his death.
Why this story poped up in my recommendations I have no idea but this story really hit home with me and I am so glad he is making a fairly decent recovery.. this is such an inspiration and I wish the absolute best for this individual.

Doctors should never tell anyone that they will not walk ever again, this may destroy all hope in some as it is not necessarily true.
Dylan Black your right, they should always put hope out there to make a person try to make the unattainable, attainable
They need to be honest and say that it's unlikely but only time will tell.
I always say doctor's don't know everything and they don't.
Dylan Black I agree with your statement 100%! There are many people who hear this statement and give up when they could heal just like David. Some may not recover as well as David but still heal to walking with a walker. That is still walking. Doctors, please do not tell a patient that they will never walk again. Only God knows if a patient will ever walk again after a spinal cord injury.

I left a very toxic relationship because I knew I deserved a better life.
Some days healing seems impossible at times and I fear I'll stay frozen as this broken person I am today. Other days I remember how he wanted more than anything to break me. I never stopped believing I was worth more so I chose to leave. It was not easy..
Tonight your story snapped me out of my "funk" and motivated me to fight harder. You're an inspiration.

I shattered T-12 when I was 19 years old in a motorcycle accident in 1996. I was also paralyzed from the waist down and regained much of my muscle control, although my feet are still paralyzed 22 years later. Playing guitar in the first year when I couldn't walk much also gave me a lot of encouragement and mostly took my mind off of my problem. You are doing great and I wish you could see all that God has done for me since my accident. I have climbed the highest peak in CO (solo), trekked the jungles of Ecuador and a lot more by God's grace. Stay strong and keep your eyes looking up! God bless you David F.!

I had lumbar fusion in 2013 and cervical fusion in 2016. My days are filled with pain. Depression and anxiety are my housemates. I came across your video and it cheered me up. Thank you, David. Many good things are ahead for you. Your future is bright.
I hope there are also many good things ahead for you too. I also have battled anxiety and depression and sometimes they speak to me very loudly in ways that impinge greatly on life; but often arguing back with those emotions, self talk, "cants", hopelessness and not allowing it to rule is a way forward. I wish you a bright future.

My son's paraplegic status doesn't hold him back either! He was a drummer before the motocross accident at 16 yrs old. Now he pours himself into mixing music he has created. He fronted a djent band and has a crap ton of fans/friends! He drives for uber and gets 5 star ratings! I love him so much! He'd love to live the life of a musician. He does promo for shows locally. He creates electronic fliers for shows here in Dallas by the way of social media. I just wish someone would take him seriously. He's wheelchair bound sure. But he doesn't need pity. He moshes with the rest! He actually does!!! Oh and he had to graduate high school in a very serious fast pace situation and he worked his ass off! At the commencement speech by principle Maglisgeau. Buzz was one of only 3 students mentioned as inspiring in a class of 300! He rolled onto the stage and was received with a standing ovation and a hug by the principal! He'd love to walk again even with a quirky limp. But it will never happen. I'm happy for y'all.

To hear his Mom start to cry in that phone message was very difficult. Big tears on that one. We all love our kids so much. Cannot imagine if that was my boy.
What an amazing and inspirational story! The fact that David had a complete spinal cord injury and can now walk again with the use of the arm canes is such a remarkable thing! God bless you, David! What an inspiration to others this young man is!! He is someone who should give a TedTalk, go to children's hospital and cheer other young people in their own hard journey....what an amazing young man, I don't know him but I feel nothing but pride when watching his journey!! He's proven nothing is impossible!!
My dad suffered a spinal cord injury at the age of 74. He is now 88 and he too learned to walk again. Although I have always been proud of the man he is, watching this about David and better understanding the strength he needed in over coming the injury, it gave me renewed pride in my dad. He's lying in an ICU bed right now fighting for his life due to other issues. Thank you God for the father and example you gave me.
Wow! That moment when you realise how insignificant most of one's daily average problems truly are. Talk about resilience. Keep up the fantastic work.
