Dave, in our beloved England, if you met a woman and she asked you to buy or build a house in England where you owned 0% and she owned 100%, and you had no legal claim on the house whatsoever, and it was built in a village where you had zero chance of selling the house as it was built on her mothers land, even if it was legally possibly for you to sell it, which it isn't, what would your answer be? Take the first answer that comes into your head and repeat that 1000 time, then 1000 times more until you get the message.

I know he can't afford to be out here that much, so i'm guesses he's doing what a lot of blokes do, going back to England, working hard, having no life and saving money to do up her and her family's house. He's posting all over Facebook about installing the new gates etc etc. He's punching way above his league, and for those that don't know much about Thailand in England, all his FB friends are wishing him luck etc etc. I have to stop myself posting but I am waiting for the fallout. here is a story about that, i met a man at immigration, we started to talk , he had met a thai lady about 20 yrs back in california, they both worked, got married,she decided she wanted to retire in thailand, sold all in usa, moved to thailand and they built 2 huge houses on family land, once the houses were built, she said she wanted to leave him, he went to his thai bank where they had a joint account of more than 500,000 usd, i believe much more, it was empty,,, its in their blood to exploit, once the family is involved you are just money, in most cases, they have no conscience or shame, they use their own their own children for money, exploitation is really embedded in the culture, and easy sources of money, will fake love for it too, love frauds in every sense

I really like this channel. The first time I went to Thailand was in 2001. I’ve even been married to a Filipino woman I’m near retirement age. I’ve got my freedom I think I will keep it that way. Travel around Thailand and the Philippines with a smile on my face stay single keep the freedom.

After listening to today's story I have my advice for Dave, I was with a Thai woman for nearly 11 years our 10th wedding anaversary is next week, funny my wife said most of the things your girlfriend is doing they moan about anything the car the same to fast to close then I took her out on my motorbike moaned about me lifting my viser up and down so never took her out again, complaining about food , hotels in UK we stayed in I tolerated this until the building of the house on her land kicked in, got battered with mood swings for 2 years , she came back to Thailand a year ago, I did an extra year working then came to Thailand last November, the land become such an obsession I couldn't take anymore I left her in November and filed for devorce I would rather be single than be blackmailed and walking on egg shells the rest of my life she had an 18 month old daughter when we met I brought her up as her father in her eyes I was her dad took her to school read English books brought them both to the UK got my little girl in school bright as a button now in a Thai school going backwards in education all because of the obsession with building a house from my soon to be X wife, I tolerated her moods for the sake of her daughter education I know I will not see her again and it breaks my heart but dont build

She seems legit. To prove your love for her, I suggest NOT ONLY that you build her a house on her land (what could go wrong!?) but also give her all of your retirement money and savings. She and her Thai boyfriend will love you forever! I shouldn't be amazed that see new guys always doing the same thing (and obviously ignoring all the well-meaning experienced guys who tried to help), but here they are, every day. And I LOVE how he claims that all her friends are amazingly wonderful people, and yet he doesn't speak a word of Thai. So of course he can judge their quality! LOL. So, so clueless he almost deserves what he's about to get. I SO HOPE we get an update in about 2 years when he's broke and stranded in a foreign land.

@@phoebeampm4794 in the UK if he was physically violent to her all she has to do is make one phone call and he will be removed from his home if he is emotionally abusive to her women charities that would be more than happy to help her if she invested money into a property or land or business in the UK she would be legally protected he has none of those safetynet in Thailand on top of that if you becomes aggressive or rude apparently it's common place for the local villagers to beat you up or potentially worse who is going to initially report you missing how vast is the countryside there it sounds like a beautiful thing move to the countryside in a warm weather country have a little allotment cost of living is cheap you can live off a small pension or Investments like renting out your UK house it appears to be in 90% of the cases the foreign man always gets the short end of the Stick which she deserves for being foolish enough to put himself in the bed situation

It's very easy to keep out of trouble in Thailand - simply place a $ or a baht value next to all your services as a man. Keep all your money and assets under your ownership and control in the western world or your home countries. Steer clear of alcohol and paying bar fines as well.
You will find yourself SINGLE 100% of the time. You will also face ANGER from the Thais that you DARE place a monetary value next to your services.
Don't you understand your role in Thailand as a walking ATM?
The Thai smile turns very quickly when they know you're working in Thailand. I was SHOCKED at just how badly I started being treated once some of the Thais realized they couldn't extract money from me and that I was working there just like they were. It was very disheartening indeed.

Another entertaining story; most have the same theme ; older man believes that a young woman loves him while she is extracting as much money as possible. Unfortunately these stories will never end as we are always looking for unconditional love base on the love our mothers gave us. There is an easy way out, get out of any relationship where you feel exploited and/or go to see a therapist. For that however you have to use your brain and not your heart or your mini me.

Regarding building a place to live in Thailand that you own 100%. My sollutoin was simple & leagle. I baught a new shipping containership from China. Hinged the sides so the containership folds flat and can be moved any where in the world easy & cheaply. Converted in to an amazing insulated air conditioned home built by myself similar to a boat where every foot of space is made useful and not wasted. After several years of living in my large mobile home in Thailand I split up with my Thai partner. Moved to the Philippines and took my foldable large converted shiping container with me where it now stands on my Philippino wife's, family coconut plantatoin. Skilled labour is very cheap in all of Asia so my mobile home was a very cheap build that was a great idea in my world and simply adding another container I could double the size of my home easy and cheaply.

Wise words Dan. I was travelling south east Asia last year. I met a beautiful Thai lady in Koh Chang and during our “relationship” I was watching your videos most days. I was infatuated by her and thought/hoped she was different from the others, even though all the signs were there. I was introduced to her by her mother, who was obviously pimping her out, but I could not see this until I arrived home and put some distance between us. Now when I watch your videos, I can see that everything you said is true. I did take heed of some of your advise though, which prevented me from being totally taken to the cleaners, and looking back, I actually had the time of my life. It’s hard to accept that we are being ripped off when we are having such a wonderful time, but that seems to be the way it is in Thailand. I will be coming back to Thailand in May, but will go back to ST and LT, as it’s much better for me, emotionally and financially. Thailand is a wonderful place in so many ways, but needs to be approached with caution.
I've heard so many of these stories now I think I'm actually beginning to hate Thai women, or at least the ones that act up like this. When I go out this year for the first time I'm determined to never get involved. Ok I'll come back to my lonely middle-aged man life at the end of winter but that's better than to fall for this nonsense!

I built a small condo style house next to my Thai lady's house and have made many improvements since as I became more secure in the relationship.
Cut to 7 years later and it has become a mini resort with rooms to rent and a nice pool etc etc
I have turned over the finances to her so she has had control of everything for a couple of years now so she can eject me for a younger man any time she wants as she is very attractive.
I know it will never happen and she tells me she loves me every day and I can see she means it 100% so there is the advice guys... start slow and build up as you become more confident in your relationship.
I am sure you can 'feel' when a relationship is not simply based on money here as I met several gogo and bar girls and it felt sooooo different to this relationship with a tour guide who is very much a small village girl from a poor family.

Nice Story. We also have to remember, with Thai women living in the providences/villages, which are poor. Most (not all) do not finish High School (They usually quit around 14 years old to work and help the family). So, they don't have a diploma for a descent job in Thailand.
Yes, they can still get a job, but not usually a job they want to do. That's one of the reasons they go to the bars, go go bars, karaoke bars, massage shops or do freelance.
Right now, a daily salary for a Thai is around 300-400 baht per day. So, they are going to do simple math. Go do st for one hour and make 2000 baht OR work all day for 400 baht.
Further, Thai women know what they are doing. I lived in Patong for one year, and a chatted with. many thai women. And, it was interesting, they ALL would tell me the same thing --- "Farang think they pick us, but we pick him."
From other youtube channels, farang always say that Thai women will go with anyone. This is simply not true. They choose who they go with.
My main advice for Men in Thailand, you have to be very good at setting boundaries, and when those boundaries are crossed, then walk away.
I’m a Thai wife living in the US. Many farangs who live permanently in Thailand are manipulative as well. Those who live in Thailand long enough often try to go for an educated woman (bangkokian) Some have a difficulty making a living in their home countries, so they choose to live in the low cost of living countries instead. The same pattern I’ve noticed is that those “farangs” tend to hate western women, which is very interesting! Thanks god my husband is far from that because we didn’t find each other online, at the bar, or in Thailand.
@@ponyhaly6131 I do agree with you. l lived in Patong Phuket Thailand for one year. Yes, there are a lot of farang that are manipulative towards Thai Women. And, are slobs (when I would go to Burger King in Patong, most farang wouldn't even pick up their trash like they would in their home country).
Plus, some farang will rent a motorbike and drive it to the airport and ditch it.
So stories go both ways.

For most people, it's actually cheaper to live in their home country than Thailand. Because you're going to pay farang price for everything (which is 5-10x more than a Thai local would pay).
Now I am from Los Angeles, but when I lived in Patong, I at least spent $2,500 per month (Just Thailand expenses, no business expenses). Now, I lived in a Resort the whole time, so a higher standard of living.
But, if I wanted to, I can live cheaper in the United States. If I lived in a small town close to my mom and sister, I could rent a place for $500. Further, I could rent a house for $1000 that is 4000 sq. ft.
Unlike the overpriced Bangkok condo's for $1500 per month that is the size of my living room...lololol.
A lot of guys come to Thailand for something different. They want to experience a different culture. Or, travel the world.
Some just went through a horrible divorce or breakup and they travel to Thailand just to get away.
Some guys, Thailand is a new beginning.
Being a Thai woman yourself (unless you were raised in another country), you know of all the scams in the Tourist spots.
Lots of times, theres a good farang just trying to help a Thai woman, to only be caught up into a money scam. And the farang loses everything.
When I lived in Patong, I seen it with my own eyeballs. Most Thai Women in the tourist areas have a Thai boyfriend and they both scam the farang. Because the farang is not aware of the Thai bf.
Further, the Thai women will have 3-5 farang bf.
And it's not just bar girls or freelancers. It's Thai girls with normal jobs or educated. They will do the same.
You are 50+ and have about 15 effective years. Ask your self if you need that stress in your life ?

Moved to Thailand last year with my now ex wife after 9 years ( Divorced 2 months ago, so still fresh ), wanted a house on her land in Issan. I said no. reason beeing that there is no point to it as i will never be living in issan. building a house just for the sake of building a house up in the sticks is nonsensical. This shows Thai logic og shows the long game they play. As i was not accommodating with this things started to go south. She has now found a falang that is more accommodating and has started building a house. i feel sorry for the fella. he doesn't know what he is setting himself up for.
One thing i have learnt from being married with a Thai is that money comes before you. "you can not eat love" as they say.
Why do guys think they've found love? if you are 69 and out of shape, same principle applies in Thailand as your own country. She is in it for your money🙂

Good story Dan. This seems like the normal practice of wanting House building on there parents land . Obviously u own nothing once built your definitely on egg shells, arguing with you to drive u out .. Now my look at the other situation of paying them say 5000 Bhatt a month to help them better there life if u are in a relationship with her.. If one was with a UK woman it would damn well cost you 200 a week to keep one happy. Hair nails weekends away meals at least would be 50 pound each so what am I getting at, well it's damn cheap 5000 Bhatt compared to running a UK woman in similar situations

A story from England, mate of mine, company exec, big house with no mortgage, met pretty English lady who had a kid, moved her in, got married, got her pregnant, two years later she had an affair, they split up, she`s in the house, he moved out, he`s now spending a fortune in legal fees to try and get at least half his money back from the house, his house he had before he met her, its not much different to some of the stories from Thailand, I`m single, and will stay that way, I go to Asia, have a bit of fun, come home & have zero contact with any of the women I have met there.

Don't get locked into a double standard. If I had a daughter I would tell her to keep her options open but don't get involved with a man who can't take care of your needs. Your thoughts. I am staying at a thai home. The lady has similar interests, same beliefs as myself, knowledge on what I enjoy talking about, simple life if quiet I enjoy. She appears very open and honest and can demonstrate how 8,000 baht is her monthly budget. She is poor however owns land and her house. If together we would be comfortable on say 20 thousand baht easy.
I would barely even notice this from my accounts as a monthly budget. I tested over time to buy her things and she only wants what is required and refuses things like a new phone as her old phone works fine.
THE QUESTION
So as the provider I pay what some on here call a salary for love.
She loves the idea, that is guaranteed. Does she loves me for my wit and charm or whatever, or is money the big influencer.
I am happy and my hard earned money can afford this as well as if it all goes wrong in future no big financial impact and I had a happy moment in my life.

Do you live here full-time with her, does she parents she supports and children? If you've only been visiting a few months a year, alot can be hidden from you, I don't see a problem if it's everything you say and it's only ever going to be the 20k but you'll never know if it's love if you've been paying for everything but if you're okay with that and don't build more houses, start buying cars and bikes for the whole family it's not for us to say but I'll say my wife still works full-time and also owns the house and property we live in, is also poor to, works as nurse 7 days a week for 13k, only you can find out over time how the relationship is but if you're paying for everything, I think you'll always question if it's love or money

Her son is self supportive working in Israel.
It is very tempting to over help as at end of live all I can view it as I helped a poor person.
Value comments like yours help me review and make my decisions hearing different view points.
For now I am just going to hold back financially as this is a very common piece of advice.

@@smileoften-ft3hq I understand how you want to help, especially if it's not going to hurt you financially but it can become a problem here in the villages once you're here full time, I've had all my wife's friends and family try to borrow money thinking I'm just very wealthy because I'm farang here but I still work and don't have the money, as soon as you start giving anyone money or gifts here it doesn't stop and can really get between the relationship but I think with both your ages, you'll be okay and you were smart finding someone close to your age, I'll give small gifts to the villagers around us but only on the bhuddist holidays when everyone is getting together helping each other, it can be very hard to say no when people ask for help here but as soon as you help anyone besides your partner it won't stop, it's better to just to keep things between the 2 of your and don't tell anyone else your financial situation, just say you're retired on a pension living month to month and it usually stops it, I always just tell everyone that asks I'm just a Thai salary like them, they still try sometimes though, my wife has 2 daughters when I met her, 8 and 12 years old and we have a 5yr old daughter together so I do spoil them, just not with ridiculous things, they're happy with snacks and cheap toys, it can get hard living village life here, everyone knows everything about everyone, if you don't speak Thai start trying to learn, it was a difficult language for me but you are much less lonely when you can communicate with the neighbours, I'm sure you've noticed anyway not many understand English in the villages and 20k a month with her owning the place is enough for a quiet life and to spoil yourself a bit, most would say it isn't but they usually drink alot and go out all the time, we spend a bit more just because the children are in school and i have them picked up and brought home to, just that is 3000 a month but helps me know they're safe, I think you'll be fine, I was expecting you to say she's much younger, that's the mistake most foreign men make here and it rarely works, my wife is 11yrs younger than me and that's difficult sometimes, I'm 47, I couldn't imagine trying to be a 20yr old like alot of guys do here

Reality is it may be more like 30,000 baht a month as I am handy and doing some general house repairs. Thinking deeper on this, for myself 30,000 baht that includes my living also is very affordable.
If I want her to visit Canada it is on my dime however that was a given from the get go and a separate choice.
Yes, I am slowly learning thai language. I go to the temple events and give say 100 baht and the village appreciates.
I was walking one day and bought 5 ladies and a gaggle of children ice cream for a total of 90 baht. The thai ladies were quick to say thank you and quick to say they would not bother me in the future. Very pure and a moment if serendipity I enjoyed.
One more month thsi and then Back to Canada for the summer to honor some promises I made.
Will let this all sink in and most likely sell my Canada home as it's just time to do this.
Some of these women probably expect a foreign man to give her a wealthy lifestyle like in the soap operas. If you only provide a basic but comfortable life, she may be disappointed and resentful.

Old men+young girl = 99% Daddy Sugar relationship. In Thailand we call these type of girl ‘Dek Sia’ เด็กเสี่ย Sia is kind of rich old men, they normally have wife and children, pay the girls month salary, school fee, buy her gifts, a car and house etc. The problem is some Farang don’t know these is type of Daddy sugar relationship, they think it’s real love with real last long relationship, so they buy house under the girl’s name with all money they have, while Thai Sia will buy the girl a house or a car only if he rich enough and just give it away like he give bonus to his employee. He know that she will stay with him as long as he pay her the money, but she also has to be faithful during the period that they are together, not telling his wife or interfere with his family etc. there are cases that Dek Sia have another young lover then the Sia find out and kill the lover. Or some case that Dek Sia tell the wife because she want to be number 1 wive, want the wive to divorce so she can take the place and get more money and status.
My only advise is finding a person that is not more than 10 years different, working in normal job, not a bar girls. Maybe there are some girl that into old men, but pls ask yourself, when you are in 20+, do you want to be in relationship with someone 50+?

Dan, not all poor girls think like that. I know I posted my bar girl story, I never posted about my other Thai girlfriend, who i've been seeing on and off for just over a year now. Yes, I pay for the meals, nights out etc, but she's never asked me for money, never asked me to build her a house, we party twice a week and we even make food at home now instead of going out every night, and she put up with a lot of my crap womanizing. She still insists on working too. I stay in her room now with a lovely outside sitting area here in Patong, 4000 Baht a month. I've never sent her any money and when I am in England, she will call me every night and every morning when she wakes up. I would be gobsmacked if she had cheated on me within the times we have been together. I've gotten to know a lot of her friends, and there are some who admit they want just money, and there are some who are genuinely looking for love. Yea, sure, we can probably give the Thai women a better life than some Thai men, I have tried to talk to Thai men as I progress my Thai, but most don't really talk to me, so I still don't know what the truth is if Thai men are as bad as they say, if Thai men forbid their women to dress sexy, wear make up, don't like to hold hands etc, but even that alone, if true, we bring more to a Thai woman than just money.

As a farang you cannot own land or a house despite paying for it . Only Thai nationals can own . The title will never be in your name even if you are married . You can however have a 30 yr lease and you are able to own a condo but there are certain percentage rules around those .
