This is my input from having dated 4 Thai women over the past 5 years. Thailand is a developing country. Money is hard to make there. Thai dating/marriage isn't the same as in the west. Women there will prioritize financial security above love and expects that you'll be able to help her and her family. She'll love you with the condition you can provide. This is as raw as male and female nature gets. Asians value collectivism and westerns sometimes confuses that with greed. Above all, vet your partner properly. It doesn't matter where you find a woman because a bad one will always make your life miserable. I hear many bad farang stories but it's mostly because the man vetted poorly.
Simps and sex tourists will always get took for a ride. I am a handsome man green eyes white skin man 37 aging like wine I tick all boxes for farang. The most recent English lady hit alarm bells off the bat. Guy told me to not see her again and I was right. I dated 3 Thai girls over 3 nights and picked the best one. Not the best looking one . This Thai lady I’ve just dated for a week hasn’t give me one bad gut instinct feeling. I am now going to vet her wisely before returning in December to spend 3 weeks with her. I embraced her culture religion and food. She is very religious and I love that. She said blessings at buddah for my family really touched my soul. I think this is one of the best videos you've made to date. I really appreciate the layout of expectations and the way to handle them. If you don't stand for yourself, most of these women in the name of family will run over you like a freight train. When you have nothing left to give, you'll be thrown out to the street like yesterday's newspaper. Not a care in the world what happens to you. Last year when I was travelling, I had a Thai girlfriend and a Filipina girlfriend, both in their early 30’s. I found there to be differences between them. Like the man said, the Thai lady was basically being pimped off by her mother, and the lady was a want monster, who was always ungrateful, demanding and manipulative. She was also a lot of fun and very beautiful. When I returned to England I could see that her only motivation was money, and she was quick to anger if I questioned her about ethics. On the other hand, the Filipina, who I have been in contact with for a few years now, is very loving and caring, and cautious with her money and mine . She seems like simple and decent woman, as do most of the rest of her family. She was very happy to spend time with me and was not at all manipulative.
its true what you say about the thai women, with filipinas its a hit or miss, my experience with filipines you have some that believe in education and hard work, possess western type values and christianity, so generally they are open minded, can love and respect their man, but you do have the other side much like we see in parts of thailand. i think of returning to PH to retire there, instead, but the infrastructure here is good, i may also try latin america... thx
I kinda see that pattern. I would dare say that mountain tribe Thais seem to be kinder or more faithful. Your mileage may vary. Yes they do look good and dress well and blend in with Thais. Of course they can also be scandalous. Sometimes you can't tell that they are from the mountains.

In Thailand if you are not Thai and you do not speak Thai they look down on you and think you're a moron. In Philippines if you are a native English speaker they hold you in high regard because they value the ability to speak English well.

Great story from Doug, mindset born from poverty is absolutely spot on. Lots of parents mindsets are that they gave birth to you, so you owe them a lifetime financially, but it is not only aimed at foreigners, it is any man that gets involved with their daughter, the money is never enough, if you gave $1M they would want $2M etc, most of these parents have terrible gambling habits + whiskey + debt

When I come to Thailand for good this September, I have no intention of having a long-term financial relationship with a Thai woman. I will be on a limited pension, which will allow only for a weekly visit to a massage lady and a weekly night with a bar girl. I will be immune to financial exploitation due to this limited budget, and as soon as I tell a bar girl, the morning after, that I have not too much to live on, her interest in me will vanish. Hi Dan. I watch all of your videos and always look forward to new ones. It seems that this channel and all involved are participating in a huge and tangled mystery. The mystery of understanding Thai society and culture with regards to relationships. It's really fascinating and also quite frustrating. I suppose we can never find a definitive answer to our questions and experiences but sharing stories and discussing them certainly helps.
I have only been here in Thailand since late 2021 and so my experience of the country and the women in still new. I have had plenty of experience though in other parts of this region throughout my life and i am now 54 years of age. I have been living 100 km north of Bangkok since I arrived. I am living with a Thai woman who is 41 years old. I can so far safely say that she does not fit into any of the categories of these bad and crazy Thai women that get mentioned on this channel and elsewhere on TH-cam. I wont go into details. There's bound to be plenty of men and women that watch your channel that are actually in successful relationships here in Thailand.
Anyway, as for the women that are out there and fit into the categories mentioned in this latest video. The 'meshed' ones so to speak. I just want to add that the same thing happens to Thai men as well. It's not just us foreigners. My girlfriend tells me that Thai women do the same thing to Thai men. Credit cards, massive expenditures, help for their families, parties, festivals, new this and new that, salon, clothes,car and so on. And then when the money runs out they will leave the Thai men in the shit with debts and bills to pay. Foreigners are obviously an easier target but basically these women will do the same thing to Thai men.
Another thing that might be added to the mix is that a lot of Thai men are utter buggers as well. They will be out drinking and sleeping with other women. They will be super dominant in the relationship. Treat the woman like a second class citizen. Be secretive about money and their coming and going etc. Yeah, there's a lot to put in the mix here into understanding the workings of Thai people. We must always try and remember that the majority of people here are good and honest people (I hope), and that us foreigners 9 times out of ten just meet the f**k ups and desperados.
Above all, you don't need a doctorate in Sociology or/and psychology to follow simple advice and your own gut instinct. If a woman or partner is treating you like a mug. If they are bleeding you dry. If they are lying and scheming. If their family back in the village are a bunch of no good, if you met her in a bar etc. If she has frequent temper tantrums. DON'T BE WITH HER!! There's plenty of fish in the sea here. Just have the same values that you have back in your own country. Ok, yeah it's not gonna be equal because you will have more money and you will be the main provider but that's fine if you manage it properly. It's just a little old fashioned when compared to our own societies in the west.

I believe that when we visit Thailand for a brief period of time (2-3 weeks typically) we mostly face people who either work in service industry or just try to take advantage of tourists.
Probably, 90% of Thai society is invisible for us because we do not interact with those people.
For example, I have never been close with a Thai woman who works in accounting, medicine, finances, tech etc.
Therefore, I have no idea how they treat men in general and foreigners in particular.
It is possible that Thai women who have high qualifications and work in more prestigious areas of occupation behave differently.
All we know is that Thai freelancers and bar girls are not trustworthy but it is the same in our home countries 😉
@@JohnArmstrong_ That's a good response. I could give you plenty of examples of how its a flaw, as well as just a characteristic. For instance, often the reason young girls find themselves continually without money and working in the bars is directly because of unhealthy family bonds. But YES, family issues are also problematic for farang men. After experiencing LOS for over 25 years, my way of navigating it is to make money in the West, enjoy it in the East, never invest in Thailand, and never buy a new water buffalo (or a house) for tee-ruk. Don't go deep, and don't take things too seriously. If you want true love, you'll likely only find the illusion of it; and perhaps that's good enough.

He ended up in thai jail over it and his parents had to buy his way out of thailand. My guess the wife got some of that money as well. He still sends that chic money to this day little over 4 yrs that I know of. She even scammed him out the money for a American Visa and airfare about 5K. Said she come to the usa. LOL Yea he stills sends money even after that. At this point I cheer the thai chics on they are damn great at this. Oh in case you guys are wondering she is middle-aged washed-up butt ugly bar girl, not even remotely a hottie!!!!!! Another issue that I never see talked about on any utuber video, is for some reason most of these guys start think they are Thai, what a mistake that is.

Another informative talk on the dangers of becoming involved with a Thai woman. I have found a diamond in the rough myself and the secret is very easy - parents deceased, no children just cats, and in her 60s from Chiang mai not Issan. yes i prefer when they tell me parents have died, or they are orphans, very sad , i hear that Changmai the families are better, I was also in chanthaburi, which is a richer province, and there wasnt as much of this, but it was still there,
but i have dated the better ladies here, but they were still being controlled and serving their parents in an unhealthy way, parents dont want them to be free, like children forever, it wasnt for me, i have some nice female friends anrd their parents are seperated , [parents are single, and have businesses, these ladies are more like us, with men in their life etc, modern thais i guess best way to describe them, i love them like they were my kids, but they are different than the ones that we mostly meet or want a farang to take care of them and their families, these girls have their own businesses as well,, the dont fit into this at all, but they are few

I don't have any exploitation stories like many of dan' s followers but I do know misery likes comfort so it appears most of the stories about Thai women are not positive but that doesn't mean there are not positive ones out there. I think the best advise is too spend some time to get to know the other person before starting a relationship. @@ranctil3 i need to do the same..i do try to get to know as much as possible early on...so that i dont caught up in a unhealthy situation..there are a few of my friends that have good marriages..more modern that dont follow or abuse these old family traditions they have. I know that many of the women out there looking for farang has a lot to do with financing their family. Or these poor ladies are stuck with taking on other burdens...but I cant forget where I am and why they have all the social problems they do have...poverty prostitution corruption etc..some of the better ladies i met still were overly involved with their parents lives...i do have thai friends that lead modern lives....right now i have a lady interested in me..however her purpose in life seems to be about money as well. The fact that many Thai people are expected to support themselves, their children, their parents and often other relatives all at the same time, is probably why most Thais are so deeply in debt and cannot get ahead financially.
This is one of the reasons why I dislike the Thai culture. If someone is rolling in the dough the other family members become paralyzed. Yes they will gladly take the money. They would work less or not work at all. Mom and Dad doesn't know squat about budgeting. Wouldn't even ask much on how you got that money. Then they will continue to spend on some crap they don't need or can't afford. They will interfere with your life and finances. They feel entitled to your money.

A good test is to leave cash money around the house, in a way that it would seem that you won't be able to tell the amount if some was missing. Leave the money in different places at different times, in different ways (but don't make it too obvious that it's a trap), after a few weeks of doing so count the money to see if anything's missing. Most of the time some will be missing.

i know from one of my colleagues here, he tells that his gfs mum is very much a big mouth, spreading to the village and other relatives her daughter has a french bf, so every month when she knows his money comes in, they are trying to get even more from him than he already gives, he is generous already, even when he visits issan , he takes a hotel, stays away from them,, this enmeshment or what they call close families is no more than looking for others to take care of them
these beliefs and sense of entitlement they have and the way they treat outsiders is be rooted in trauma, and intolerable experiences in childhood, it's also a narcissistic disorder, I also know from meeting some people working in education here, that parents interfere in their kids education and are highly controlling/manipulative
My predispositions towards Thai girls is split into "Residents & Visitors" lol. Actually, it's become an initial question in my "KYTG" (Know Your Thai Girl) interview lol. "Do you live in Pattaya, or are you visiting?" It gives us a clue as to their back-story.
I respect earners, however aggressive. But that's not the same as a girl getting their ferang to pay for extra things through lies and schemes. And it's another thing entirely when their families capitalise on/drive the gig too. Now I've always had a feeling lol, that regardless of what the girl (& family) might want to do with you, you either let them, or you don't 😂. One of my oldest rules has been, "Don't meet the family". Never let it happen, never visit their town. Going outside your 'control zone' is risky for any foreigner, anywhere. & girls I've seen for a few days who then said, "I need to go home, do you want to come?" have received a sharp, "NO!" In Malaysia and Singapore, many women are educated and financially independent and most of men here doesn't provide for their women. In fact, most of the Malaysian men and the western men that I knew prefer women who can contribute equally when they are in a relationship. Personally I prefer men who can provide so women like us do not need to work so hard and strives to succeed the stressful corporate environment. But realities are so different here. Many western men in Thailand perhaps are much gentleman I guess ...

Five Types of Women You’ll Find in Thailand
When Thai women are mentioned, it’s fair to say that most people immediately think of two different types; the ‘bar girls’ and the ‘normal girls’. In our experience, there are actually five different types of Thai women that you’ll find in the country. If you want to date a woman in Thailand, we think it’s important to understand the differences between them. With this in mind, allow us to break them down below!
1. Bar Girls
Since bar girls seem to get the most attention, allow us to explain these women first. If you’ve been on a few nights out in Thailand, we can almost guarantee that you’ve bumped into a few bar girls. In Pattaya, Bangkok, and other big cities, you’re likely to come across bar girls often.
Raised in poor families, normally in Isaan (northeast Thailand), they see their work in clubs and bars as a serious job. Whenever they earn money, some go towards their education and lifestyle while the rest tends to go home to their family.
Unfortunately, their poor reputation comes from their desire to earn money. Since they earn more on this scene than they ever could in a day job, they’re very rarely willing to forgo this lifestyle for a Western man. If you fall for a bar girl, make sure she is genuine with her intent, learn more about her, and assess whether or not she will change her profession for you. Bar girls have broken many a Western heart, so don’t give everything away so easily.
2. Traditional Girls
On the other hand, people normally think about traditional Thai girls as ‘regular’ or ‘normal’. Many work long hours in their day job, they don’t socialize in clubs and bars all too much, and the majority haven’t yet dated a foreign guy. Unlike what you may have experienced at home, Thai women don’t like casual dating. If you’re a few dates in, they will probably see you as their boyfriend already.
Traditional Thai women, take marriage and love very seriously; they believe in giving their all to their man. Additionally, they have strong values for:
Traditional beliefs
Meeting your/her family
Religion
Children
Most Western men, find themselves in conversations about marriage within a year. If you aren’t interested and aren’t serious, we highly recommend breaking up before breaking her heart later down the line.
As you may know, traditional Thai women are shy and conservative in nature. They rarely have tattoos and piercings, they don’t wear too much makeup, and only an emergency will see them ask for money. In fact, most traditional Thai women prefer to save money, and this will help you find cheap hotels, food, salons, shopping malls, etc.
This all sounds great, but we should inform you of one drawback; their ability with the English language. If you find a girl that doesn’t speak much English, you can be certain that she’s trying to learn. As long as you’re both making an effort to communicate, love will conquer everything.
3. Thai Gold Diggers
We mentioned the way that bar girls like to earn money, but this is nothing compared to the gold diggers of Thailand. That’s right, some women will go to clubs every night dressed up in expensive clothing with expensive gadgets, handbags, and shoes, and they could even have tattoos. Either way, they look for rich men who will buy them gifts and supplement their expensive lifestyle. While some are happy to stick with one sugar daddy, others will seek multiple sugar daddies, so be careful (we assume you want to avoid this type of woman!).
Many Thai gold diggers, they’re happy to keep partying until the sun comes up. Most of the time, they don’t care if you’re talking with other girls because they’re doing exactly the same. If you choose a gold digger, they will be demanding, they will ask for gifts, and they will prefer material things over your time.
Here are some tips for recognizing a gold digger:
She’s always asking for material items and for you to spend money
She always seems to prefer fancy restaurants and experiences (rather than just a night in together)
She’s direct in asking for money
Of course, we aren’t saying that any girl asking for money is a gold digger. But there’s a difference between running into money problems (and feeling awkward asking for help) and simply asking for you to fund their life.
4. Liberated Thai Girls
For us, a liberated Thai girl is a traditional Thai girl who has been able to break free from shyness. They’re accustomed to Western attitudes and men, they like adventure, and they’re generally very good fun. Unlike the gold diggers, liberated Thai girls are independent and they won’t be looking for a man with money. Instead, they’re genuinely interested in finding somebody to love.
Good with the English language, these women will have careers and huge aspirations for the future. Before settling down with a family, they will have goals. Thanks to their middle-class families, most have been to a big university and are now putting these skills to good use. Some liberated Thai girls have even spent time abroad which means an ability to speak various languages. You might speak to somebody who has traveled to Japan, Spain, France, or maybe even the UK.
With this in mind, they have a passport and will have a hobby to go alongside their busy working week. For example, this could be painting, blogging, surfing, playing an instrument, or dancing. Just like in the West, you need to find a woman who suits your desires whether you want a casual fling or a long-term relationship. Fortunately, these girls love new experiences, and this can be great fun.
Since they’re independent in nature, they will pay for their own drinks on a night out and may actually be against the traditional Western chivalrous approach (only if you take it too far; everybody loves a gentleman with good manners!).
5. High Society Thai Girls
Finally, we come to the high-society Thai women and these normally have wealthy parents or come from a wealthy family. In truth, it’s another life entirely for those who don’t socialize in these circles. For this reason, you won’t often find them in a typical bar, restaurant, or club. They like to frequent fashion shows, exclusive restaurants, and events with a high reputation.
If you don’t have the sort of money they are used to with their family, it’s hard to compete with those who do. If you do have some money, there’s no reason why you can’t start dating a high-society Thai girl.
Verdict
Which girl has taken your attention from this guide alone? For us, it’s important to avoid gold diggers and be careful with bar girls. If you have the money, maybe a high-society Thai girl is for you. If not, you have the traditional and liberated Thai girls. While one is conservative, respectful, and extremely loyal, the other is independent, fun, well-traveled, and/or educated!

My observation is the complete opposite. When together with Thai/Vietnam people I always got invited by them, I even had problems to invite them, because they always were faster then me. Whenever I wanted to pay, everything already had been paid by somebody else. Paying for guests and friends increases social status in Asia, so everybody wants to invite. I had to secretly go to the waiter and pay before somebody else got the idea. When I lived at their place they refused to take money for it, I had to hide it for them and tell them later after back home so they could not return it... They were the most generous people I ever met, even if they have less they still invite. Of course these are normal people with normal jobs and normal life. No prostitutes, no bargirls, no farang hunters and so on...
My Thai girlfriend, who lives in BKK, is like this too.

But same is true for Thai's bias about foreigners, in their view many foreigners are sexcrazy people who are just busy with sexual harrassment of Thai women. Whenever one of my female friends is going to Pattaya she is constantly approached by foreign men asking "how much?", which is a big annoyance for her.
So farangs haven't the best reputation among Thai people also...

I am with an Isaan girl for 11 years now . She is fantastic and certainly the exception. We married in Thailand . The Sin Sod was 100,000 baht and I found that reasonable. I took her out of Thailand and away from the family and out of the country. We now live happily in Australia and visit Thailand often. I have a partner for life and the best girl I have ever met . I am staying since 2 month in Thailand, most Bangkok. As soon as I did not pay them, they tried to call me the bad one and cancel any contact. But the reasons were most something else. Some tell me straight, they look for spoiling and they also think they are the good behaviour. Very crazy. Also they seem to need so much attention all the time. If you do not text them always, they clame you and stop. Very toxic and very manipulative behaviour. I think long term they will be very sad with this behaviour. After your video I understand it so much better with family abusing them. Seems the culture is exactly 180 degrees what I tought. Anyway, new culture experience and learning is not easy.

Many successful marriages that begin when the people are relatively young go many years without many material fancy comforts, well at least they used to, not sure about today. Anyway, my point is that later in life these married couples will look back on that time in their marriage fondly. The struggle to advance and succeed brought them closer. I always suspect no Thai woman would be willing to go through this out of love and duty.

I have been living in Thailand for 4 years and I had many local romantic encounters and a few LTR’s.
It is true that culturally speaking, security supersedes “love” in most relationships in Thaïland. That said, if you take good care of your lady she will reciprocate above your expectations, provided that she is a good person, of course.

I have been here less than 1 year and I already see this. At first, I was shocked by how many single moms there are in Thailand. It's rare that I meet girls who had fathers around growing up. These rare girls seem to have a lot more morals than the single mom raised girls. I've also met a lot of young single moms who didn't want to ever marry. The Thai society is not really focused on the traditional family unit. Don't assume they are Asian so they are focused on the family. They are focused on obligations and resources.
I wouldn’t have guessed that being an African American man I’m trying to have kids in a culture where single motherhood isn’t. Maybe Philippines is different from what I’m hearing and being raised around some philipino friends I’ve never got the feeling that they are going towards destruction always represented maybe bit too much but close family unit
My thai wife of 13 years was only interested in caring for her mother but 2 years ago her mother died and she changed. She now looks at me as her father. Ha funny but she is a good girl.
