Started playing again after 20 years of not picking up a club and 3 major surgeries. Started hitting balls at the driving range and struggled with standing up on most of my swings. This video made total sense and I’ll be taking it to the range. Thanks for your video, you explained each concept very clearly and your communication skills are outstanding. Great job and keep those videos coming.
Really appreciate the kind words and support! Glad you're back playing the game---hope these videos help ya along the way!!
Love this Eric - now known as the Red, White, and Blue Drill. This should help so many people - even for the best players, it's too easy to have the Red side too high on the backswing and the Blue too high at contact. I've worked very hard on exactly this thing for the last two years, without the imagery to help, so I will be stealing your American Flag Drill going forward - thank you. You're the best.
Thanks, Paul! Appreciate ya!
Hi Eric , I know you tried this with an iron , does it work with a driver as well ? Given that you tilt and hitting upwards?
I have had a struggle this year in hitting the golf ball solid from driver thru irons it's been my worst year so far. But after watching this video and thinking about the red, white and blue idea with the rib cage it was like turning a light switch on. I am back to hitting it on the sweet spot of the club. The only thing is you have to pay attention to your set up every time. Thank you from a happy golfer again
Love this!
Everyone has their own feels. I’ll add this one to my personal library on the range. Great video, Eric.
Thanks Bob!
That's what I've been looking for..great visual simplified with the red white and blue..Thanks big time!!!
Appreciate it, Dwight! Our pleasure!
I have been trying to stop standing up for years! This video I think has finally fixed me. I am striking the ball more poor than I ever have in 40 years of golf. Thanks Eric!
Great stuff, Gary! Appreciate you being here with us!
Eric this video has really given me great new feels! Today on the range was fantastic with these feels. These feels also gives so much free stuff with them 😀 This movement helped with all clubs from wedge ti driver. I feel like it helped with a my little over the top which crept back in this last weekend. Thanks so much!
Yessir! Love it!!
Eric, I watch youtube golf videos all the time. Your videos are all very good but this one is outstanding. I went to the range today after watching this and saw immediate, tremendous results. thanks very much!
Love it Michael! Appreciate the kind words and glad to hear that!
I like the simple mind thought of this. You’re instruction is always great Eric! Thanks
Appreciate it :)
Thanks Eric this is one of the best explanations in my 30 years in golf. Keep it up!
Thanks Elly :)
I have always had a tendency to come out of posture. I played today and used this feel on every shot. It really helped me stay down and compress the ball. Thanks Eric!
Fantastic! Our pleasure👊
I really love the idea of this drill! I will be thinking about this at the range when i get my new upgraded clubs soon
Hope it helps, Mark!👊
Another great video thanks Eric. I checked out your website and when I watched the analysis you did for your student and the custom video you made for them I was super impressed. I kind of thought that maybe you have team members who watch the swings and identify what kind of defects each person has and direct them to the videos that would be most helpful. Watching you take so much time to tailor the lesson to each student and give them specific homework made me realise how helpful your online teaching is. For me I have been getting lessons and my swing is very much a work in progress. I am going to wait until mine is a bit more stable before enrolling but I definitely don’t need a free trial after watching how much time and effort you put into helping your students. Cheers
Thanks, Stevie! Would love to see you in the community my friend!👊
@@CogornoGolf count on it
This was fantastic Eric , Ben trying to do this today . I’m an early extender and this has helped . Great video 👍👍⛳️⛳️🏌️♀️🏌️♀️
You got it :)
thanks Eric. Loving the posture tips..very helpful for me!
Our pleasure!
Best vid for a while as I was beginning to think, some are getting a bit no go for me, but this, top notch, thank you👍👍
Thank you, Barry! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I like it. My last video showed me coming up out of my posture quite a bit. I feel that my body wants to do it to start the downswing because it wants to generate power.
👊
Hope this one helps, Nicholas!
@@CogornoGolf Yes, I tried it out a bit today. I think it is better for me than trying to focus on the shoulders. I can't get the trail rib cage to point at the ball though, needs some work. Senior golfer so always will be limited.
This is a very good on-course swing thought/feel!
Appreciate you watching, Jason!
Great video - exactly what I was looking for. Assuming this will also help stop handle getting too high at impact? I struggle to get back to where I started and feel I lose consistency as a result
100% will help with that!
I started to stand up on my down swing for the last 3 months, something I never did, absolutely ruined my golf, I tried everything, but nothing worked! The American Flag drill sounds logical , I am going to try it out on the golf range and will let you know! Thank you for your great videos, it is much appreciate! Kind regards from South Africa 🥰⛳️🏌️♀️
Our pleasure, Paula! Hope this one helps you out!
this is great! will remember as red, white, blue drill--perfect!
Thanks, Jesse!
@@CogornoGolf I have been working on this now for two weeks. I have been playing golf for over 50 years and never hit iron shots this well. Thank you!
One of the best. Period.
Thanks Mark!
As someone who struggles with lifting in the swing I find these swing thoughts very helpful indeed 👍.
Glad to hear that Andy!
Eric, you nailed! Thank you. I think rip cage to rip cage at the same distance. I tried it on the course (should have to the range) lol but I did it with all my clubs and shot 74!! I flushed all but 1 shot. I’ll take that all day. Thank you
Fantastic to hear that, Doug!! Thanks for watching!
Great way to think about the swing in the context of the core moving throughout the swing. I am tired of thinking how the shoulders and upper torso should move in the swing- that never really worked for me. Much more sense to me to think about how the core should move in the swing for more consistency, maintenance of posture and getting rid of the dreaded standing up move resulting in topping especially with the fairway woods. Thanks for the tip on new a new way to think about how the swing should work with the correct core movements. A change in perspective on the swing moves that works wonders for self correction and host of other good things.
Love it Harold....I think many feel the same!
Great check points. Thanks Eric
You got it Alan!
This is amazing, thanks so much Eric! Love these simple feels that I can take on the course that won’t clutter my mind. I’ve watched tons of your videos that have had a significant impact on my game, but this one may be the best
Appreciate the support my friend! Glad to hear that!
Eric, this is a great tip! Are you doing a “stack and tilt” swing?
Thanks!
Nope
Great lesson as always.
Thanks, Mike!
With all due respect I triggered a big reaction from Malaska a while back on this very subject, a core driven swing. I feel very strongly toward this feel and it’s nice to see others do too. It works. Thanks
You got it Nelson :)
If you look at good ball strikers in 3D....theres really no arguing what they do. I like to do that as it takes all of our opinions out of it :)
Wow, this is so good!!
Thank you, Bob!
Sooo good. My problem is the trail ribs not staying down. This is a nice new way to think about this.
Hope it helps David :)
AWESOME!! Like always
Thank you, Huy!
Great job
Thank you, Donald!
Makes perfect sense. Now if my feeble mind can get my old body to do this! Will put this to the test next week.😆
:) Hope it serves you well Doug!
@@CogornoGolf I have the darn bad habit of coming out of shot split second to soon. I'm hoping this keeps me in swing long enough.
Nice new concept to tryout
Hope it helps, Ian! Thanks for watching!
@@CogornoGolf Eric, should we be thinking of impact on the middle or last third? I have always struggled with a slight flip and it kills me 😔
Too general to say....really need to see YOUR swing to say what YOU need to feel is the reality here. Would love to help ya if you ever want to take the time and energy to really dig in at www.cogornogolf.com
Great thought and idea. Now if I can actually do it! 😂
Thank you, Michael!
Start short and slow and build your way up. Confirm with video after each swing :)
Appreciate you watching!
Eric - why do u think this seems harder to do with the longer clubs? I don’t have the problem as much with my shorter clubs but I always want to stand up with the driver
Lots of variables..
Its the club you are swinging the fastest...hardest....most speed.
you are also standing taller at setup so naturally will be less tilted over through impact
Also bc ball on tee we want to hit UP....
Irons ball on ground hitting down easier to stay down
Driver ball on tee hitting up HARDER To stay down (and you don't need to as much )
Eric…great video! Just a simple question: down swing sequence is it: reflex, side bend then turn ( to open hips) at same time? Thanks 🙏
Yep....more on that here:
th-cam.com/video/WfqDbTB0Zf8/w-d-xo.html
@@CogornoGolf Impressive that you linked a video so specific to his question but that the link you provided starts playing at THAT POINT in the video...nice attention to detail The above video is great and I can't wait to get to the range to work on it...thanks!
I really appreciate your videos. Would it be possible for you to introduce when you demonstrate THE point of each video a slow ( or very slow) motion?
In advance, thank you very much.
Thierry Males
Thanks Thierry! Will see what we can do!
Good stuff Eric i thik it would be beneficial if you did one of the swings in slo mo
Thanks Edward! Appreciate the feedback!
c thanks --? can one still compress the ball(ground) with the right side tilt/bend (blue)into the ball ? Ray
MY 2-3-3-6 BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BODY TURN AND HIP ROTATION..😉
:)
This video couldn't have come at a better time
Got ya covered :)
Isn't early extension generally a reaction to another fault like casting which is usually a byproduct of open club face. Meaning if you force yourself to stay down, they'll slam the club a foot behind the ball?
100%
Big early extension causes I see
-Setup balance points off (hips too far back)
-Open face
-Steep shaft
Good video Eric. Also your head stayed still (in all directions) throughout your swings! 🤷♂️
thanks Matt! Steady head is nice to have!!
My only question is on your video where you say in the backswing shirt buttons to the sky
Hey Rick! ITs a slightly exaggerated FEELING to add EXTENSION to be about to keep your head/upper body centered and not moving off the ball......also helps swing length.
Really the chest is more level to the ground....but the feel is UP
I talk more about those details in these:
th-cam.com/video/eXhuQPuEgec/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUVRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGNlbnRlcmVk
th-cam.com/video/YquRd9mVUzY/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUVRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGNlbnRlcmVk
Stay level. This is where "keep your head down" comes from. Don't raise your head, lower your head or move it laterally and you will hit the ball more consistent.
Agreed
Like it - thanks
Thanks, Peter!!
Struggling with the heel shanks on the longer clubs atm. Eric just knows!
:)
Check these as well:

As usual your videos are very good and very interesting.. could I suggest that you wear a shirt or a belt with the three colours you mention ? It will be easier for us poor golfers to better memorise your advice
Thank you so much for your free lessons
Good idea! Thanks Albert!
Even the same red white blue for driver?
Hey Daniel! If you have the same issue of standing up with driver yes
Yea the Downswing side bent is way harder to do .
