Jesus what a genius coach! So many videos are there with coaches trying to show as much vocabulary they have without being on point. Your videos are all - straight to point and explaining every step. You are genius
After watching a million golf videos, tips, secrets and tricks, this is far the best, most logical explanation of what the swing is and how to stand, turn, bend, tilt and extend. Thanks!!
Eric, you are one of the best swing coaches I have ever seen. Very concise. The way you describe positions and biomechanics is impressive. Thoroughly enjoy your video sessions.
Any time at the range when someone needs help I refer them to your channel and tell them not to look at the others for the actual swing techniques. I have totally found my swing after a 18 year hiatus thru this channel. I owe it all to you Eric. I didn’t even realize you analyzed swings at your site. I’m looking at it today.
THANK YOU! I finally understand. My swing has been lost for years. Caught this video minutes before going to bed. Tried to mimic the feel. Next day after work, I went to the range. My swing has never felt so balanced and I am smashing the ball. Your channel is AMAZING!
Your videos are amazing ! I am a beginner and i always watch your tips and try to practice them. Your videos are so simplified that things make so much sense. 😊 thank you.
I have not played in over a year and a half , now coming back to play, this will be the practice drill for the next few weeks for me at the driving range. Thank you so much Eric. Simple and smooth looking swing .
I'm one of these guys, now 71, trying to reclaim the distance and skill of his youth. I've watched a ton of channels, subscribed to some and this is one of the two best in my opinion. Many golf pros start channels but 'teaching' is very different than playing or 'hit it like this'. Eric does a super job of explaining in useful terms and less time gazing at the ball in flight over and over again. As an ex-CEO, I am not known for handing out unwarranted compliments. This video, or any of his videos, are extremely well done from a learning perspective and are worth your time.
Eric, yes, best of your videos. I watch you a lot but this is exactly what they told me at one of those golf instruction places where they use tons of technology and compare your swing vs. golf pros. I have played for 20+ years but there is always room for improvement. Awesome, keep them coming.
@@CogornoGolf So true, I'm only just beginning to realize, after about 11 months of practice, that feel is probably the most important component of learning swing mechanics. I've recorded my swing at the start. In my last vid I noticed what you were talking about just before parallel in the follow through. Recording is a must, and seems like the best training aid for me.
I think this is an excellent video and now I'm a new subscriber. I've spent the last couple of years really trying to gain a solid knowledge of true (not just "traditionally understood") golf swing fundamentals that are geometrically sound. The visual / overall swing thought I've come up with as a result is that any geometrically sound golf swing (or golf swing instruction) has to support the proper blend of a spinning disc on plane (with the pivot point being the sternum about arm pit high) and the movement / forces involved of a trebuchet. The trebuchet part covers so many things, and it may seem odd at first, but I think it makes sense to most people when they really think about it. I learned some very good fundamentals from your video that were explained in a more effective and easily understood way than I've ever seen before, and they all work perfectly with my overall swing blend criteria. Thank you for putting this video together. There could be other people like me who can make the mistake of taking some things so literally that we end up taking them too far. I think that's possible with the range bucket drill. I think it's a great drill, but if taken too far it could (maybe?) result in preventing (or at least somewhat restricting) the free movement of one of the trebuchet components. Every pro swing I watch in slow motion (I love watching pro swings already in slow motion at 0.25 speed - you can really isolate all the movements that way) includes a naturally allowed compression of the angle between the left upper arm and the left chest muscle as the backswing progresses and at the start of the downswing (within reason - it isn't a forced motion). It may seem like I'm really over analyzing here, but I would want to be careful that the range bucket drill doesn't restrict that motion. I'd also like to say how much I appreciate the shaft angle on the left side picture at the 15:27 mark where you are completing the follow through. Thank you for having that angle still on plane with the swing plane. I'm not sure why but instruction videos that have an overly horizontal shaft position at the end of the follow through almost make me angry. I'm always on the lookout for extremes and restricting the wrists and the overall natural flow of a complete follow through is one of those things that really bugs me. I know this was a wordy comment, but the main point is your teaching method is one of the best I've seen. Thank you.
As someone who stepped out of the game for a few years to focus on a new family. I have since been at the range practicing this drill. What has amazed me is how quickly this has formed muscle memory and how the club feels so much more natural as an extension of my arms. This video got me back into the game. Invaluable piece of coaching. A million thanks. Just spoilt myself to a very nice new set of more advanced irons
Our pleasure Robert---hope this one serves you well. Hard to go wrong getting these pieces correct. Like stretching or doing yoga.....they dont get old :)
This is a great video. There are so many videos about that tell you what to do during the back and down swing. It’s not always the best way to teach imo. I have found that, if you understand where you need to get to in the swing your body and brain will figure it out. Any more that teach this way would be brilliant. Great video, great content and a solid swing as always. ⛳️
Fantastic video !!! I love also that you give details and then hit the ball then it is easier to see how you blend all different aspects of the down swing .Great job Eric !!
Dude you're a dawg thank you for this content! The 180 yard 7 iron drill really helped me understand the way the lower body should work in the golf swing, obviously, not perfect after a day of work but the distances of my shots probably increased 10-15%. On top of that I was having knee swelling if I took too many shots and this seemed to help me rotate properly, thanks for the tips man greatly appreciated, the way you break things down to the micro details with excellent explanations is a Godsend!
Excellent!!! Best tip video I've seen in a long time... great explanation of each step... and how to combine them ... really boils the essential parts of the swing down into the basics
Great content Eric. I like the this changed my game driver and iron videos a great deal. I think these build upon those just don’t want to have too many thoughts but anxious to try this.
Eric ,this video is great, I was practice on the driving range just now, I will keep doing it until is naturally or muscle memory. Good drill, I'm little steff for the finish over the shoulder ,but I'm working on it. Thanks again Eric.
very great info here. I have always struggled with rotation and extension coming through the ball. But knowing these simple key points has made my swing repeatable, and kept my swing thoughts reassuring before i step up to the ball. head behind the ball, elbows connected, extended through the entire arc of the swing, and rotate through!
Greetings from Brussels, Belgium. Another excellent video. I have problems with the torso moving forward in the driver swing. Picked up some very useful hints from your “ iron vs driver swing” . Hope it will help tomorrow on the course!
Eric, 2 car wash sponges from discount store taped together with duct tape better than ball basket...all for under $3 (acts like well advertised ball between arms). Excellent lesson.
Awesome video! Thank you so much. I will start practicing with arms extended, elbows close, and body turn to keep club head as far away from my body as possible. I’m excited to watch the improvement over time!
Thanks for another great lesson. Will be working on this at the indoor practice bay I go to. Now I need to find the drill you have to increase lost swing speed starting with no backswing that another favorite of mine, the Average Golfer, just posted saying it came from you.
I tried this at driving range today, every shot was straight and I have been going left recently, improved me 75%, will keep at it to hit with more power later 🎉 thanks so much you saved me!! I've only recently started playing and in my 40's
I discovered the follow through extension move over the winter in the sim and it’s made a world of difference…when I remember to do it. After I hit a few flush I go back to trying to kill it and everything falls apart! I find if I don’t start backswing with body I can’t extend properly. Don’t swing the arms! I will work on the drills to get it ingrained! Thanks Eric
Eric look at Rory and that other guy forgot his name when they are at impact there left arm is straight down there body and no space is seen before they get to your straight arms outward , most people there is space at impact between there left arm and body therefore weak right shots and the Club collapses before straightening out . Your still the best on TH-cam second to none ..
Definitely the missing pieces to my swing, I rotate and extend my arms but don't extend my torso towards target or keep my head behind the ball, hit low stingers all the time. I like the alignment stick between feet as a wall to keep your head behind, great stuff Eric.
100% that one will help you then This is more on that part may help as well: th-cam.com/video/JGQqrQqkbEY/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUsRXJpYyBjb2dvcm5vIHdoeSBwcm9zIGhpdCBpdCBzbyBoaWdoIGFuZCBmYXI%3D
Terrific presentation. Puts it all together where you can understand it clearly in piece by piece. Going to take this idea you presented to the range tomorrow.
I’m like 10 seconds in the actual video and I know this’ll be huge for me. I’ve compared my swing side by side to many great golfers to help me see what needs fixing and the biggest thing is the swing/turn of my head after impact like a propeller. Excited to watch the rest and see if it helps my swing!
Eric, excellent explanation of arm straight extension thru the ball. One thing about the "extension" of your spine pointing upward is to make sure that "extension" does not include hip thrusting when extending the spine upwards. In the face on explanation of extension one might think you are doing so by thrusting your hips towards the ball-a 100% No No as that will take away the space needed to get the club in front of you and get to arm straight extension on the follow thru. I know you are not recommending the hip thrust but from face on it can be misunderstood. Great video!
@@CogornoGolf 😄I absolutely agree. Unfortunately when I give it this instruction my brain can't find a way to achieve a quality strike on the way there 😂For me the magic move would be the one that starts the downswing in a way that achieves perfect strike and follow through, particularly because once my brain initiates the downswing there isn't time for any other conscious thoughts in the less than half a second it takes to complete the swing.
I kind of built my entire new swing on this concept. Kind of in a 3 step process to get the feels down. I felt what it felt like with my arms straight and the club at about 45 out in front of the ball I did realize if I didn't turn I couldn't keep it, so I would turn to feel the body turn and bends, then I took the club and swung it backwards up to the backswing and saw it I could swing through and hold the finish. I had so many flaws really getting too low and dipped the lead shoulder too much shaft lean at address and I'd throw it out too early in the downswing and catch it fat. Almost instantly after drilling that I found out I stand up taller at address and my legs are actually working. Good stuff eric
Great clue Eric! Thank you so much. Can you also do a video while you keep your arms together throughout the swing, what the wrists actions / movements should be. I feel that if I lock my wrists, my ball would go right. if I hinge my wrists up during the back swing, somehow my ball striking would be more consistent. but if I cannot bow my wrist though (maybe I have a weak wrist?
Thank you! Here are a few videos you may enjoy checking out! th-cam.com/video/i0Tdk9XYTqg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/EnTdPREfqw0/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/6OapTjdg0qk/w-d-xo.html
Creating shaft lean with forward movement, combined with turning my chest to the sky while maintaining side bend... these were the missing pieces in the work I've been doing to transform my swing from the one I learned in the 70s as a teen into the more modern, big muscle, turn oriented swing I've been working towards for months, years. Thank you!

I feel that if I lock my wrists, my ball would go right. if I hinge my wrists up during the back swing, somehow my ball striking would be more consistent. but if I cannot bow my wrist though (maybe I have a weak wrist?
Thank you!

Thank you!
👊Glad this one helped your game, David!
