      Hi Keen, I took this out on the course, at 79 yrs I've lost a lot of distance with longer clubs and had a 32 handicap. Decided to play the whole round limiting myself to this and only this swing. I only needed three weeks of one round a week to get down to 30 handicap. Very happy to have caught this video! I really works! Shot three very consistent rounds in the mid to low 90's. Go for it... @@keendeesjarlais3636

    This is kind of funny. I went for a Golftec swing eval a couple of months ago and the FIRST thing the instructor did was to tell me I had to try to perfect this move. His instructions were slightly different (no pump) and he used the term "pull the club down" but it was essentially coordinating the club drop with the shift forward. It's tough to do partly because that "little golfer" inside is telling you "you'll never hit the ball that way, idiot, better pull up" and you stand up. You need to continue to try to train yourself to get to a point where you realize you CAN hit the ball like that. So this video is much appreciated (and it's FREE!), saved me, what, $3000 on Golftec lessons (I decided not to take them because, even though I liked the instructor he ignored my repeated requests for information about the pricing structure).

    As a low single-digit handicapper, I've played very good golf for 30 years, but never felt my swing was quite right. I've watched thousands of you tube videos and taken numerous private lessons, and still, when I videoed my swing, didn't like what I saw. That was until I tried this drill. My two biggest faults were an early release, and failure to post up on my left side. This drill corrected both of those almost immediately. For whatever reason, I found it very easy to adapt this drill into my swing, and often practice it before hitting my shots on the course. Some new swing thoughts seem to last for a round on two and then quit working, but not this one, and I plan to stick with it for a long, long time. Thanks, Chris.

    I have to comment. Did this drill at home for a day or so after watching this vid a few times and asking about utility for driver. Tried it at the range and the crack sound on impact was immediate. The biggest issue for me was balance, especially on the longer clubs including woods. I'm not exactly sure why, but this drill cure all of that and even the shallowing of the club. I was pretty amazed how quickly this happened. I did chunk a few in the beginning and block some drivers out to the right. But I quickly found if you don't turn all the way through the finish this could happen. At least for me. Thanks 🙏🏼 Chris - now only if you had something similar for putting 😂

    I like what I’m seeing in this video. I felt what it feels like to cover the ball and had some great ball striking rounds but haven’t been able to ingrain it. I’m hopeful this drill will help me figure it out instead of reverting back to my old bad habits which I tend to do.

  • @BillyDee159
    @BillyDee159 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I’ve been working with this drill for the past three or four months but I wasn’t literally really doing it in a two-part way that you presented. I also was probably getting behind the ball while I’m doing it. It has worked miracles for me. I’m hitting the ball, a lot more consistently and compressing some shots. Last night in my living room I practiced the drills the way Cris suggested for about 15 or 20 minutes over and over then I went to the golf course this morning and on the practice range did the drill several times and then hit some shots. I was much more consistent using Chris’s method. Very excited about it.

    Brother I have been trying so hard to find a video or SOMETHING that could help me feel what an actual golf swing feels like.
    This was it. FINALLY. It feels so much different than my old swing. The amount of power I’m not creating is insane from the club whipping down.
    My swings always looked good but now it actually has the follow through of what a professionals looks like.
    Here’s my next question.. how do I hit my driver without slicing 🤣

    • @MyGolfDNA
      @MyGolfDNA  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely love to hear this! Keep the shoulders from rotating open and release that thing and you won’t slice the driver. There is a driver video on the channel that addresses that how to fix it with a gradual build of to the length and speed of the swing. Lots of people got some good results with it. Happy you found this video. Now, get back out there and get to work:)

    Good video. I used to have a problem with early extension -- I fixed it my self by staying down on the ball and doing exactly what you said - let the club do what it is designed to do, which means let the club release. I am a righty and what I use as a good swing thought is "turn my left hand knuckles down at and through the ball". I am a 50 year old woman and when middle aged men at the range hear me hit the ball they are amazed. Compressing the ball sounds very different from scooping -

    Very good drill to focus on the most important aspects of a solid golf swing. I found that shifting my weight was a bit of a challenge. It helped when I forced pressure on the inside of my trail foot at takeaway as a means of more easily shifting my weight to the lead side. Also found that letting the lead arm take the lead on the downswing helped me let the club take over through the downswing, as I tend to muscle through shots with my trail arm.

    Great video, 1st one I've seen that helps me to understand where my body needs to be. My wrists feel awkward, which explains why I don't hit anywhere near as far as I should or as high.
    I'm not using my body enough. Its purely all club, just letting it drop as I find my arms are through the shot before my body. I know I don't compress the ball and I find most of the time I don't hit the floor, resulting in a lot of topped shots or catch it on the heel and it just stays low and shoots through the green.

    Good stuff! Like how it’s broken down in segments! Come to think about it, reason one tries to stay down at impact and let arms follow though , my guess is, not to impede on the turn and lose acceleration cause if your core turns even a smidge too early on the downswing at impact to follow your arms before they follow through, then you lose the acceleration/ speed. Don’t chase your hips after the arms too early … keeping that separation space as far as possible , increasing the distance from arms and core equates to more speed. Hope that makes sense for whoever’s reading….Thank you again!!!

    I compress divots with the best of them... anyone want some chilli dip? 😜
    Seriously, great drill and you nailed most all the positions. Just be sure your lead arm is fully extended/straight at 9 and trail arm is fully extended/straight at 3 - i.e., lock those elbows! Tip to demonstrate the final result. Go to 12:01 and immediately press the Space Bar to stop the video. The video should be paused at backswing. Repeatedly press the "Period key" on your keyboard to advance the swing one frame at a time (Comma key to go back). Notice how skilfully Chris holds the wrist cock until his hand is over his trailing leg so the shaft is still parallel to the ground - VERY IMPRESSIVE! For us mortals the shaft is pointing toward the ground so keep practicing...

    I am from Michigan and get to golf May-October before the season ends each year. Back in about 2013, I accidentally started swinging my irons this way and the results were astonishing. My 7 iron distance for example was 220 yards. My golf partners were perplexed at how I was crushing the ball and to be honest, so was I. This lasted for about 4-5 years and then literally disappeared between the end of one season and the beginning of the next. I’ve never been able to duplicate the technique since. I don’t know how it could disappear basically overnight. I’m going to work on this drill and try to get it back. Thanks!

    This is the entire golf swing in a nutshell! (assuming you have grip, setup, and basic swing plane skills). I deal with over the top and casting issues and cannot believe how well this drill gets me in a great position coming down. Keeping that clubhead in line with the hands before impact is so powerful. And Chris you do an outstanding job teaching it with good detail - it all makes perfect sense. One question - since I deal with early extension, would it make sense to shift the weight to the left HEEL when I do this drill so I can create that needed space?

    Practiced this for a few days in my basement before taking it to the course for a twilight nine. Hit some of the best compressed shots I’ve hit in a long time. Fairway, rough, tee, all were flushed. I was praising Chris and this video. In the two weeks since however, I’ve been hitting weak cuts. Maybe not turning on the backswing enough and coming across it slightly?

    • @MyGolfDNA
      @MyGolfDNA  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Make sure you have enough depth in the swing by turning your body back and keep the tension levels down in the hands and arm so the club will release. Hope that gets you back on track! If not, report back and I'll help you further.

      Consolidate the thoughts down to 1 or 2 things. Make sure they are the right things and then practice those things the right way. Stay committed in the process. Most people work on the wrong things at the wrong time because the sexy golf marketing promises lots of big things in a short period of time. The reality is, you have to work on things in a very specific order for the best results and to get off the struggle bus. I can help you figure out what to work on if you can’t figure it out.

    Great drill on creating lag, will need to incorporate before trying 9&3 drill. Added 20 yards with a 7 iron when I was relaxing shoulders, arms, and wrists… but direction was not good and would need a 60 yard wide green. If I kept tension in swing, I did not add as many yards but direction improved. Does that experience match others?

    • @glenjones801
      @glenjones801 ปีที่แล้ว

      I"m just a long time golfer, not a pro, suggest you firm up the wrists, don't let them flip. Ok to relax arms, shoulders but "loose wrists" lead to all sorts of misdirection. There is a rotation that occurs with firm wrists (forearm rotation, and NO flipping), as part of the natural finish.

    I have been working on these positions even before I saw this video. Every position is correct, just be careful to not early-extend in the contact zone. You already set your left shoulder high at address and that is as far as you want to come back to and not raise your shoulders until the ball is off the club and going toward your intended target then you can stand up straight pointing the front of your belt-buckle at the target.
