Light-bulb moment x10. I have struggled with ball position mainly because I've always felt that in order to get the driver going UP, it has to be forward. Now I know why I slice and pull the ball. Brilliant! "One ball in from the left heel and shoulders square at set up." I'm gonna get the tattoo. Subscribed!

Interesting lesson Matt, as im working on driver at the moment. Went to try a club and the pro said fix your club path before buying a new driver , i was 20° out to in !!! ( contortionist!!) . Been using an alignment stick to take club away on the outside then swing back on the inside without hitting it. Work in progress but hit a 275 yard pb on Saturday ( usual best around 230) . So all your tips / lessons are really appreciated 👍

I like up with left foot and I don’t slice it. Lined up with left foot I carry drive 300+. Lined up mid stance I slice it and carry drives 250. To each their own I guess, but I’ve had best results from opening and closing my stance as opposed to moving the ball in my stance.

      @FirstLast-f8z 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@Hugh_JaynisI did this exact same thing, for me it was closing my frontside and then I said no way I should be hitting drives this way just to get it straight…I legit went back to basics and used this exact concept on my own after watching a playing partner setup all day and my light went back on…hit the last 3 drives of the day straight as an Arrow and prob longest of the last 2-3 months…this concept is not only accurate, it’s a massive part of a lot of ppls problem I’d wager myself…I address the ball at my correct distance from the ball, feet together, ball in the middle of the feet, then one step right slightly past shoulder width and then a small 1/8 step forward and you should be damn close to perfect…ball should be somewhere underneath your lead shoulder if correct…it def works if you know your swing

Thanks Matt... always great stuff. Thanks, Love the whole thing. I especially like that you called out the exaggerated / inaccurate arch of the hula-hoop. This is a big deal for some. One thing that I believe hurt me (and maybe other golfers) has been the antiquated term swing "circle". Whether it is a more vertical or horizontal path, that term and therefore that image, was burned into my head from day one. As a result, and as someone who pays a lot of attention to the descriptions of biomechanics, I tried to follow a circle with my club head. Obviously, trying to create a circle was disastrous, as that is not the path a good swing takes. The only way to draw a circle is to stand up early and stay completely centered. No bueno. A good swing takes the path of an oval, with the long edge aligned (more or less) towards the target. The oval is formed as the center of the circle (hips and torso) move towards the target. Imagining that oval helps envision the entire swing moving towards the target in a dynamic motion. The best strikers have the longest flat spot in their swing arch/oval and as a result increase the consistency of their strike. Look at Mo Norman. Your drill helps make this even more apparent and gives a good visual relative to club path at impact. Thank you very much.

Good tips here Matt. Driver direction not distance is my issue. Good ones are straight or a slight draw. The killer shot is a push. I tee the ball around left heel area and do try to hit up by slightly lowering my right shoulder at address. Grip is on stronger side. Could you please do something on the causes and solutions for pushes. Cheers!

Sometimes my drives go left sometimes they go right and sometimes they're straight down the middle 240 yards. I've been putting the golf ball way forward in my stance almost near my toe and I'm going to back it up to just left of center and see how I do. Thank you

This is a great video Matt. I've moved the golf ball forward in my stance in the attempt to hit more up on the ball. While it works at times, I am also very erratic. Lots of pull hooks, but also lots of pushes to the right. Two-way misses are extremely frustrating. I wondered if maybe I had gone a little bit too far forward, and this video confirms that I probably have. Can't wait to mess with this on the range tomorrow :)

Do you have any tips to help me overcome these problems? Cheers, Mark

One of the few instructors that uses setup visuals.
HUGE for lots of ama's out there, even scratch players.
I get asked questions all the time when I'm golfing with new people. They see me hitting consistently and get intrigued.
The first question I ask is, where are you looking when you line up to hit your ball?
99.9 percent of them don't have an answer. They have to sit and think about it, until they say "I don't know"
Most of them don't even stand behind the ball when aiming their shots. -_-
Don't be that guy. If you aren't practicing setup, you aren't improving. PERIOD.

Love this lesson... but where I'm confused, it never produced a slice, which is a problem for most amateurs, including me! I guess it's because you are already producing a positive angle of attack, no matter where the ball is positionned? Where to start if the angle of attack is negative?

This is what i struggle with . i have moved my right foot back to come more from the inside so that i can keep it higher on the tee but im tempted to get a 12.5 driver move it back in my stance and tee it lower . Im not flexible and my 3 wood goes farther because if i hit my driver it slices way right . I have manages to hit like 250 at times with right foot back but i would rather just have the ball back more i think .

You might be hitting the ball instead of swinging like the ball is not there. When you hit you manipulate things which cause fat shots and hooks. You could also have head down to long after you hit it so then your hands and arms will get way out front and snap around your body causing a hook. Your grip is also too strong. You have to weaken that left hand on club and get the right hand more on top. Try swinging the club like your taking a practice swing then step up to the ball and you do your golf swing at the ball without “hitting” at it. Think swinging through it.
The point there is a difference between “hitting” at a golf ball and “swinging” through the ball. Look it up it might help you because it helped me.

Then...if anyone is oaying attention what he does on the last shot...he sets up properly (with ball off his foreward instep) and hits it perfectly! lmaooo

I actually hope you’re not serious. You changed the ball position by maybe one ball back from your heel position and are trying to convince us it will make that huge a difference? You already admitted the hoola-hoop is much smaller than the actual swing arc. In an inch and a half it isn’t going to make that much difference. The club will move on a very straight path for the inch and a half. If people want to hit the ball straight and long, getting the swing on plane so that it approaches the ball down the line or near down the desired club path line with the face toward the target will certainly help players to hit it longer and straighter that a one ball position change.

Lots of creators use these training aides, i was taught with these in the 60s, so Danny Maude doesnt stake ownership to age old teaching.

How strange is to go in someone else’s channel to leave a comment like this. Ridiculous.

Every tip has been given hundreds of times by hundreds of experts. No one owns a tip and the more we are reminded the better we will be so thanks to both Danny and Matt.

Gokftec/Stack & Tilt have been using that station and concepts for over 10 years so DM does not have proprietary rights. Still great information well presented and easy to understand ty

I didn’t need such a long video to tell me to have the ball in the correct place. Also, your swing is already correct… however you can have the correct ball position but if you cast your drive you will still loose distance

The crazy thing is… my slice goes away the further FORWARD in my stance the ball sits. I put the ball at the middle of my lead foot and that seems to do the trick.

It always amazes me that these instructors and teachers don't play or win more on the PGA or European tours! They are so damn good, you'd think guys like this would dominate!
