DRAGON QUEST HEROES II - Defeating the Dragonlord

  • And on the first try, too. Somehow. Beat him in 3 minutes and 53 seconds and wasn't sure what I was getting into and was learning how to fight him AS I was fighting him, as you can see.
    To go straight to the battle, skip ahead to 1:55. Go to 8:44 to see the equipment, Skills, and Party Powers used.
    I actually had an Allure Ring on the female protagonist (Teresa, or as I called her "Terra") on accident. That was kind of a funny waste. I DON'T recommend doing that. That was an oversight on my part since I kinda just jumped right into the fight.
    And sorry for kinda hanging on choosing my team in the beginning and such. That Dimensional Dungeon feature of choosing your team before going in was new to me, since the update last week did that. lol

    Funny how the original protagonist beat the Dragonlord by himself, and pretty easily. Yet everyone else needs their friends to defeat him (Although the Builders 1 protagonist is a exception). I know it's just a video game, but it really brings up questions about power scaling in the series. The original protagonist did it alone at level 20-30, while others who have confronted him require help and at high levels.

    I did the same in terms of jumping right in and learning to fight him as I go (only my party is more melee orientated than ranged which makes the fight even HARDER) but I got frustrated after a while because his health bar is just too damn big and I don't have any Uber weapons yet to shave it off faster. Your warrior does waaaaay more damage at 5:40 than mine ever would using the exact same ability and the Metal King twin-blades.
    Fighting him and keeping up is not overly hard but it can be an endurance making it to the end (especially when his more latent abilities surface). Also, you can get extremely unlikely when switching to a teammate with them being in the wrong place at the wrong time resulting in instant death. Good fight video though; maybe one day I'll try the Dragon Lord again after I finish the other content. I like to solo these dungeons rather than use multiplayer.

    • @JoeBee9
      @JoeBee9 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Seems replacing a party member made a huge difference. I went into this fight completely under-leveled and geared to see how well I'd do and actually won lol
      My fight: th-cam.com/video/kfN8P3ocSkc/w-d-xo.html
      Then my heart sunk when I unlocked two HARDER versions of the Dragon Lord. Almost the same fight except a much larger health bar and it uses ALL of its abilities from the start including this quick zap attack that can knock off melee attackers.

    Did you train everyone individually to get their proficiency up? Also how did you get those other clothes?

    • @IronsaintEntertainment
      @IronsaintEntertainment  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you basically have to switch to all characters in the party and slowly work on the proficiency. They have a Party Power that helps from what I recall, but it was one of the last ones I got, so it kinda didn't matter by the time I got it. XD
      But the different days of the week help towards different things, like Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays in particular help boost how much proficiency you get.
      Here's the rundown:
      Monday = More Gold
      Tuesday = More Proficiency
      Wednesday = Metal Slimes (Metal Slimes, Liquid Metal Slimes, and Metal King Slimes pop up frequently)
      Thursday = Rare Drops (Accessories and Ingredients)
      Friday = More Mini Medal drops
      Saturday = More Proficiency and More Rare Ingredients
      Sunday = More Proficiency and Accessories
      The costumes were from having save data from the first Dragon Quest Heroes.
      If you have the save data, when you got to load the game up in the start menu thing, look for Claim Rewards.
      Do that and you get costumes of Luceus and Aurora's for the Dragon Quest Heroes II protagonists.
      If you have Dragon Quest Builders save data, you get the Builder's Mallet weapon (which is actually an axe type weapon, despite being a hammer).

    how do i get the Allure Ring and how do you level up fast and the fastest way to get gold?

    • @IronsaintEntertainment
      @IronsaintEntertainment  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      High Djinks in The Grand Dunes: Desert Plateau drop Allure Rings. They won't spawn until you beat the game though. So after you do, head over there.
      As for leveling up fast, it depends on where you're at in the game and your level, really.
      No Man's Land: West is a good place to grind at until you unlock the Mirrored/Dark World. Once you get that place unlocked, that's where you pretty much can spend most of your time level grinding.
      Especially in The Damned Dunes in particular, which I'd say is the best and most efficient.
      Blacka Pastures is pretty good though, too. Plus you can face the somewhat elusive Loss Leader there.
      Other than that, make sure to always go after Metal Slimes, Liquid Metal Slimes, and Metal King Slimes (Metal King Slimes start popping up in the Mirrored/Dark World after you beat the game, and can even pop up in the normal world VERY rarely in its Wild Zones).
      Make sure to press the touch/PAD button to switch your map to be able to see around the vicinity you're in, since they pop up as gold sparkles on the map.
      Here's the best way to use Bonus Balls if you have any, as you can use a Quicksilver Key if you have some and level up really fast at even high levels still against Metal King Slimes:
      th-cam.com/video/pKV5tpijt5U/w-d-xo.html
      You can get Elevating Shoes as a drop from Metal Slimes, Liquid Metal Slimes, and Metal King Slimes. These make the rate of EXP you gain even higher.
      Something to be mindful of is the weekly schedule of bonuses.
      ● Monday = More Gold
      ● Tuesday = More Proficiency
      ● Wednesday = Metal Slimes (along with Liquid Metal Slimes and Metal King Slimes) pop up in Wild Zones more often (and drop more Quicksilver Keys than usual)
      ● Thursday = Rare Drops (Accessories and Ingredients)
      ● Friday = Mini Medals
      ● Saturday = More Proficiency and Rare Ingredients
      ● Sunday = More Proficiency and Accessories
      Some of the Dimensional Dungeons can help with farming for gold.
      Tower of Tribulations nets you like 80k gold each time you do it.
      Killing some Gold Golems and if you get their Monster Medal after fighting one, turn into it and use their "Showered with Gold Coins!" attack on enemies. I forget the name off-hand, but I believe it's the O button attack of theirs.
      That can rack up some coinage quicksmart.

    • @IronsaintEntertainment
      @IronsaintEntertainment  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's quite a lot of stuff in The Damned Dunes that give great EXP. Pretty much everything from the Bomboulders to the Gigantes.
      Just circle around that area (which is an oasis). Just do laps around it so they respawn by the time you go around.
      You can get MILLIONS of EXP in a short amount of time by fighting the stuff there.
      You SHOULD be fine at your level.
      The Gigantes might give you some problems, but if so, just get away from him and fight the other stuff if you can't tough it out. Use and save your Tension on the Gigantes though to make your life easier. And don't worry if someone dies, collect Bomboulder Monster Medals to use in this area when you fight them.
      Guess what they do?
      Heal you to full AND resurrect people! Don't even need to use an Yggdrasil Leaf for rezzes thanks to those. :D

      We got the Platinum on the first DQH too as well. I will say that the all Party Powers (Life and Soul trophy), getting all the Monster Medals (Beastmaster trophy), and the weapon trophy (Well-Armed) are gonna be the hardest and likely last you wind up getting on your way to get the Platinum. The amount of Mini Medals you have to collect to buy all the stuff that are exclusive to buying with Mini Medals (which includes some weapons) is pretty crazy and time consuming to say the least.

      Yep, stats are gained by allocating skill points but there are only a fixed number of HP boosts. By level 60, you've probably filed them all making those remaining levels less impactful. You can still raise your stats further through gear of course.
