I love that the Ultimate Dragon is the Dragonlord from Dragon Quest I. I just wish they would have used the Dragonlord's boss music for the final form as a nice Easter Egg.

Hero's party: Spent 4 turns to maximize damage the next turn Boss: ...is enveloped in a wave of ice... I recall I couldn't get through the black dragon that attacks three or four times in a turn back then. Good memories 👍🏻
Haha it is annoying when it use wave of ice, i spent most of times buffing and he just use 1 wave of ice to dispel it 😡, and the battle took a long time to defeat it, my mental health being drained 🤣
woah, i did it once with low lv (forgot how much, but below 65 since the hero dont have dragon soul) and also dont have timble tension.. thats really hardcore to finish it haha
@@NerdOnGaming yes, as i remember, it really took hours to kill all of them, i think arround 2 hours, also it was the time where internet are still rare, so thats why idk if lv 65 will learn dragon soul, also didnt know anything about timble tension thing :D
So, I just recently dusted off the PS3 and played all the way through this game. I had started it in earlier years but had trailed off and never finished it. Beat the King of the Dragovians, got the Argon heart, and saw the good ending. So is the purpose of these dragons for nothing other than extreme challenges for super high level characters? For people who just can't get enough DQ8 and want to keep grinding?
I did this wasnt really worth it. The dragon designs are really disappointing they are just different skins of the same dragon. Mostly same moves and animations.

@@NerdOnGaming the dragons even have the same pose as the dragonlord's second form in their psyche up animations
They all look the same with different colors, so not sure why you think that specific one to say it looks like the Dragonlord
It’s crazy how strong the dragons are. You can be over leveled with the best equipment and one desperate attack will still one shot you lol
True, one wrong move or the boss attacking one person continuously then it's game over

It's so hard even with dragon soul and timble, i don't dare fighting without dragon soul and timble, it can took hours to kill it 🤣

Back when i was 12 years old i had no idea how to play this game too and i give up playing it because it is so difficult especially the boss fight 🥹

How do you get the Dragon Soul skill for the Hero?
You will learn it when you reach lvl 65 on ps2, and lvl 70 on 3ds remake

Yeah as i know these dragons fight only for challenging fight and get some item, there is additional story too about the hero from this bonus dungeon

Never beat darksteel dragon so annoying
It took me a lot of time leveling and searching for some equipment before fighting it, keep the spirit 🔥
I used Yangus' and Eights critical hit attacks for damage to surpass the high defenses and kept up defenses and healing
Multithrust did wonders for me.
