While replacing sealings to end cap you first has to remove the spring! If you do it your way, the risk is sever to damage the oil seal. The spring is just to pull of from the end cap.

Before you get crazy try some stop leak for what your trim pump has in it (oil or transmission fluid). Farmers have been using it for years for stuff that sits like boats do. I run it in all my trim pumps if they need it or not.

Screw cap back on after adding some grease to the seals once everything is back in place.
