@@kevindube7096 I love me some TCQ and Q-Tip, but you're way off. I had to listen to Breathe and Stop again to see if I was remembering incorrectly. I wasn't. th-cam.com/video/n8omE8XPeYE/w-d-xo.html
I agree. He deserved awards for his earlier work but is now just being recognized. Like Leo winning an oscar for The Revenant. He should have got it for The Departed.
Watch some of his live performances. Like the one where he's surrounded by a group of people. He can break dance, scat, rap.. sing great, funky. Play 14 instruments. Writes all his stuff. He's amazing to watch in a live performance.
Who cares what he is as long as he keeps making music, I'd prefer him to get back to his Mellow Gold, Golden Feelings, and One Foot in the Grave albums. I love all his music but his old stuff touched me differently! In a good way! Lol
Gwen Matthews I have the album too. not to be a dick but its christina ricci, she just didn't go by her real name, she was making the impression of a Japanese stewardess. I remember beck saying she was just hanging out on the set and did the backup vocals
I personally prefer Odelay over Guero but only by a small bit. They both have a majority of Beck’s best songs and the Dust Brother’s best production, but Odelay has a great attention grabbin aspect throughout the whole thing. Don’t get me wrong most of the songs on a Guero do also, it’s just that Broken Drum & Scarecrow have some aspects that aren’t the absolute greatest, stiill a great song on an amazing album tho
The QRIO robots (4 most recent) are adorable! Beck looked for them to do this video. It took programmers three months to plan the choreography for this video.
I saw him at a coffee house in Silver Lake around 86'. He looked like he was about 13, but I guess he was a little older. He wasn't playing, but someone I was with was like "Hey wow there's Beck" going on and on about how good he was. I never thought about it again, until Mellow Gold of course. I guess my friend wasn't kidding.
Wow. It's a real mindfuck how this music video, which still seems modern and fresh to me, and was released during my final year of high school, is nostalgic for someone who remembers it from their childhood. Maybe that's why elderly people still listen to 1950s music, it still feels current and new to them, and only the generations younger than them understand just how old that music is.
Man I'm so glad I was able to find this song again, it makes me think of when I was young and me and my mom found out about limewire after she bought me a first Gen ipod for my 10th birthday 😂🎉
I believe the Chinese(?) guy sitting in the audience is a very prominent person in either China or Japan (I don't know if he's Japanese or Chinese). I think he's Chinese, and a leading software manufacturer of robotic equipment/machines and in a very elite position. idk how Beck got him to be present in one of his videos, other than his awesomeness! He's rarely available for things like music videos. .so cool tho
Hell Yes. Peace and Joy --Sexy doesn't even begin to describe how cool this song is. God I love this Artist. I remember the first time I heard Beck on the radio, I cold barely speak as I called the station to ask "who is this, I've got to know him"
This has Beck's "signature" written all over it! Love it!! To have the QRIO's perform was brilliant... and to finish it off with Christina Ricci's "please enjoy", I think my heart skipped a beat! Thank you Christina, er, ah... I mean Beck!
I'm only a teen, but Beck is my childhood artist. My dad played him all the time. Can't wait for the new album! Till then I can only "dream" about how great it will be!
After kanye went off on this dude like he was a nobody I had to see for myself .... he's actually decent I probably won't go out of my way to listen to him but I Don't go out my way to listen to kanye or Beyonce either ...
Fredrick Seiler I'm really suprised this many people never heard of beck.I thought everyone knew who he was but im also 35 and come from a time when we had a choice in what music was shoved down out throat. Think back at the original mtv then mtv2, or the box, shit even 1800 music now, and music shops.we had tons of ways to find artists, teens today get maybe ten choices on the radio and think that's all the music that's out there
Fredrick Seiler Come on man, Beck hasn't been on the radio or TV in any meaningful way since the 90's. To a teen today, that's before their time. Loser dropped 22 years ago, how is a fifteen, twenty, or even twenty-five year old an "idiot" for not knowing about it? Yeah, he kept putting out solid material in the mean time, but he hasn't really had a major presence since then. This is a chance for new people to discover him, not to be called names for not hearing about some artist who was last an integral part of popular culture before they were in middle school.
Saw him do this last night at Red Rocks! Fucking felt-melting tripped out shit that whole concert was one of the best I've ever been to, and you can't beat a show at Red Rocks. I'm still dancing!
Still got it, dude, thanks for decades of bad ass music, man... We love to see you live, come visit Ponce, Puerto Rico, no one ever does. I have a feeling people here would dig your hybrid of genres.

The director really knows how to show the cutest part of the Qrio, especially when the Qrio stares at the camera with oblique angle like 0:15, 0:31, 0:55, 1:07 etc
+whitedragonVII OK, let's take it one step further to help investigate the root of your stupidity... LOL, really I'm just jivin' turkey! :D People who ignore Beck's great songs are the stupid ones, not people who just type things wrong ;)
Man I wish the kanye thing never happened just because of the stupid 'kanye needs to respect artistry' crap. I like beck more than kanye but i can't stand Beck's fanbase for being so headass.
Well for as much as I love Beck, even he wouldn't say that people will ever forget about a Kanye, he's the reason for everything good and bad in pop music since 1999 onwards. From the Beatles to Pulitzer Prize winners such as Caroline Shaw and artists/designers like Phoebe Filo everyone agrees he's a genius.
When your great ancestors accidentally gave you perfectly etched acid tabs in another dimension by mistake and its too late because already took them when you were only nine years of age
Beck is one of the funkiest white boys that ever lived. If he had been around 40 years ago, he could’ve slid right in with Parliament or the Gap Band. Kanye isn’t on Beck’s level. Not even close.
Beck is such a talented man. His beat IS correct!!
If you want to know what inspired his _talent_ in this particular song, just listen to Q-Tip’s song “Breathe & Stop”
@@kevindube7096 I love me some TCQ and Q-Tip, but you're way off. I had to listen to Breathe and Stop again to see if I was remembering incorrectly. I wasn't.

If you want to see & hear where he got it from, just listen to Q-Tip’s song “Breathe & Stop”
Beck is so underrated
absolutely
Hell Yes...!
How can someone who just won Best Album at The Grammys be underrated?
With popularity, financial success. He just won Best Album recently but he's been around for two decades now.
I agree. He deserved awards for his earlier work but is now just being recognized. Like Leo winning an oscar for The Revenant. He should have got it for The Departed.
Dude has good music man.
Watch some of his live performances. Like the one where he's surrounded by a group of people. He can break dance, scat, rap.. sing great, funky. Play 14 instruments. Writes all his stuff. He's amazing to watch in a live performance.
Yeah he does but this one is a direct descendant of Q-Tip’s “Breathe & Stop”
My god that bassline is magic!
who was like HELL YES when they saw Beck declare he is not a Scientologist anymore
In the interview he actually said he was never a Scientologist.
Cool✌️
Who cares what he is as long as he keeps making music, I'd prefer him to get back to his Mellow Gold, Golden Feelings, and One Foot in the Grave albums. I love all his music but his old stuff touched me differently! In a good way! Lol
Oh no, what if he's now a Humanist? What will happen next?
can you just quit that gang that easy without repercussions??
I've been a loyal listener of Beck since the 90's, but never seen any of his videos. Every video is crazy! Love it!
Satan gave ya a taco?

The sample of the girl saying "Please enjoy" is Christina Ricci. Hell yes.
Actually, it's someone named Kurisutina.
Gwen Matthews its christini ricci
Whoops. Just looked into it. XD. I didn't know that she went by another name on the album. You guys are right!
Gwen Matthews I have the album too. not to be a dick but its christina ricci, she just didn't go by her real name, she was making the impression of a Japanese stewardess. I remember beck saying she was just hanging out on the set and did the backup vocals
She also looked and sounded Japanese in the video, so...
definitively Guero is one his most amazing masterpiece
HELL YES !
for sure, and he has so many wonderfull colabs in that album. like christina ricci and jack white.

I personally prefer Odelay over Guero but only by a small bit. Damn can't believe this doesn't have more views, dope track
None of his tracks have enough listenership these days, please spread word. Thx.
Facts!
Finally found this in 2022, he’s a genius!
Beck is a lyrical genius.
I agree. His words are sheer genius
Man I remember growing up with this shit. So much nostalgia.
Wow. It's a real mindfuck how this music video, which still seems modern and fresh to me, and was released during my final year of high school, is nostalgic for someone who remembers it from their childhood. Maybe that's why elderly people still listen to 1950s music, it still feels current and new to them, and only the generations younger than them understand just how old that music is.

this looks like a ps3 ad
He's the cowboy Jedi of amazing funky music !
why doesn't the world celebrate this song?
busy?
Makes me smile every time. Beck is awesome. Would have loved to see the robots dance in person.
I did not know that. Very interesting. That makes the video that much more interesting. Thanks!
Japanese invented that robot.
the robot are CGI, so good luck seeing them in person
the robots r not cgi they r qrio's or "dream robots" made in japan they lent him the only 4 working prototypes for the video
Beck was always ahead of the typical, and we are all here now 2024 again. Need i say more
this song should have so many more views that it does. Guero is a fantastic album
I like your bass..
yes!
this is the first video i ever saw on youtube
Fun fact, nice!

Beck is a lovely genius
Seen him play in Dublin this week, as fresh and cool as when he first started. Has never made a bad album.
I could never pick a favorite Beck song. My head might explode if tried.
This era of Beck: Guero, Guerolito and The Information - absolutely 👌
this guy is a genius producer
I absolutely love Beck.
And I love this video.
I love Beck; I love the funk and the Bassline on this song. The video is pretty cool. The lyrics are sharp and ironic- love it. Hell yes!
The “funk and the bass line” are due to him listening to Q-Tip’s song Breathe&Stop
I'm only a teen, but Beck is my childhood artist. My dad played him all the time. Can't wait for the new album! Till then I can only "dream" about how great it will be!
@ Jay Don’t let your age weigh against you. You have excellent taste in music 🎸
Beck walkin out with his Grammys tonight like...
After kanye went off on this dude like he was a nobody I had to see for myself .... he's actually decent I probably won't go out of my way to listen to him but I Don't go out my way to listen to kanye or Beyonce either ...
Beck proves he's a better rapper than kanye

Can't get enough of this!!! Hell YES to everything!!!
Only Beck can rap without rhyming and it still sounds good 👌🏽
I've listened to this song over 10 times now and I legitimately did not notice he wasn't rhyming until I read this
He uses the music to relieve the tension.
are y'all niggas even listening to the song, he rhymed plenty in both verses
AMEN!!
And what a man!
Honestly, I don't really like rap, but Beck rapping is different. The man is a damn legend.
Beck made a song and a video with robots in them before Kanye... Hell Yes

I remember seeing this video on International Music Feed and thinking it was the coolest thing ever.
When I think of all the bitter souls who hate you because your fountain of creativity is endless, I just grin and say "Play on, you crazy genius..."
How the hell does this song only has 1 million views? WTF!!!
+whitedragonVII B/c peeps like you say "has" instead of "have" in such context
Thanks for the english lesson

I hope by now you HAVE checked out Mellow Gold and other old albums. It's there, the rap indie jazz funk gold
I wish my best friend was still alive. He also *got* all things Beck.

Hell Yes Beck Congrats!!!

Beck in the house! Awesome.
Ohio Players - far East Mississipi
Good call.
Beck is funkier than Kanye in my opinion. This video is exhibit A
There is no comparison Kanye can't even play his own damn self let alone an instrument or sing. You rule Beck
Fuck Kanye west
Beck is one of the funkiest white boys that ever lived. If he had been around 40 years ago, he could’ve slid right in with Parliament or the Gap Band. Kanye isn’t on Beck’s level. Not even close.
I'd call Beck more experimental than funky. But funk is overrated anyways.
funk is objective,and perspective.
That beat man... just won't quit.
beck is class! there's nobody else like him
I was expecting it to get weird. it didnt.
its kinda weird
***** yeah but its a constant level of weird theres no sudden spike of weird.
