      i like the term genre-bender in relation to his musical inclinations and expressions. he's not too concerned with those labels, it doesn't seem. Heck, according to some interviews, he isn't even too concerned with how his art is made. He said if he would've had a piano instead of a guitar, he would've gone that direction more. he's an artist before he is genre-loyal or medium-loyal. Certainly, there is nothing wrong with artists 'staying in their lane', but my point is that Beck doesn't have a lane; he's got a field, and he runs around in that field and finds cool stuff that he then shines up and sells by the roadside. Consummate artist of our time.

      @@OfficialTails69 No.. it's called the Beck genre the guy had it right. You cannot put Beck only into alternative, as he is folk, Blues, Rock, soul, R&B he crosses all genres. Do some research you'll find what I'm saying is absolutely true. He Wright's his own book. It's impossible to put a label on him, except for a musical genius. His mind is clear and beautiful and deliberate.

    I love Beck, and I'm glad he got to get the Grammy, but I don't see why people are so mad at the thought that some people might rather listen to Beyonce over Beck. They are two totally different styles of music, and obviously some people would prefer tp listen Beyonce's pop music over Beck's alternative stuff. So those of you who are asking," how could Beck win over Beyonce"?, or, "how could people have not heard of Beck before the Grammy's"?... The answer to your questions are:Because people have different taste in music. It's pretty obvious people

    • @alex199273
      @alex199273 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree, but not just that. Both sides grew up in different times so it's harder for both of them to be compared. People who know Beck also saw Beyonce grow, but most of the people who know Beyonce were maybe 5 years old at the time. I like Beck, but Im not gonna trash over Beyonce either just because I dont listen to her music. Everyone is gonna have a different taste and no one is gonna be happy either way. Its a no win situation

      Kevin, because it's a bizarre reverse snobbery. Beyonce's music is throwaway bubble gum trash IMO (I cannot stop people liking it, but as someone who has played musical instruments since the age of 3 I have a good knowledge of the subject).
      So I can quite easily tell that Beyonce and Kanye are not fit to tie my bootlaces musically, let alone those of Beck. And as for Beyonce's lyrics, dear god a primary school child could do better. I know Kanye can't help being stupid but he can help being rude.

    Beck is an artist in all sense of the word. He single-handedly produced his latest album all on his own and plays multiple instruments. The class he has shown throughout this speaks volumes about his character and doesn't play into social media. Music is subjective, so if you like Kanye, Beyonce or Beck that's great. But the way in which an album is made and what the "artist" does to create it is where this huge separation begins. Beyonce had 16 producers, many contributors and writers. Kanye's own performance on the Grammys was riddled with auto-tune and lets face it: He cannot sing. Do I enjoy his other music? Yes, he's a talented rapper. But he is attempting to venture into territory that is beyond any musical ability he, alone, possesses.
    I saw Beck a few months ago, for the first time. It was one of my "bucket list" shows. I was blown away. The show was damn perfect, his entire library of music was played. And that voice. For such a small frame he can fill a room. Beck's an artist. And if you can't appreciate it, that's 100% okay. Just don't equate album sales and popularity to being great. That's not what the Album of The Year is. It's an award for musical excellence in many facets from instrumentation, singing and writing. And for that, Beck is a master of his craft.

Missy is the best female hip hop artist of all time and crushes 24/7 ... but just because she's been laying low people act like they don't know. The internet has allowed people to just surround themselves with music they already like and not get any diversity in their play list. I never met any Beck fans growing up so I never heard anything other than Loser and Where It's At and E-Pro (on Rockband 2 - I didn't like the song because I couldn't sing it as a kid) and I'm now getting into his music. Dude is such a talent and is so fearless with his approach to each song. I wish I would've gotten into him earlier I'm sure his music helped a lot of kids like me who grew up insecure about being different.
