I remember I was around 5 years old when my father bought his first music system along with Bomfunk freestyler album. Since then I cannot take this music out of my head. It's in my brain, whenever I hear it, I remember those days.
Now I'm 26, working for a better life and trying to retire my old man.

At the time of its release in 1999, there were SO many musical gems coming out. The amount of different GENRES out in the charts in the UK was overwhelming each with many many notable classics.

Agree about the movies, disagree about the music. With the music moving to the Internet from the cassettes and CDs, it became much more democratized. Instead of big bands by big labels, you've got something that speaks to you, delivered by an artist who may live on the other side of the globe and would've be confined to a local bar where no one could appreciate their music. The movies went the opposite directions.

@@LukeVilent I can see a way how OP may of meant with modern pop music being top of the charts rather than various genres being up there anymore; "simple" and "repetitive sounding" music seems to be appearing the most in songs, or it's this new type of music i keep hearing. I can't stand it and it's all i hear at work, i find it demotivating, b l a n d and b o r i n g. I reckon you could take the lyrics and the sounds from modern pop music and swap them around with other modern songs and it wouldn't sound any different or be more or less boring to listen to. Songs have been minimalized, they don't require your attention to enjoy them... They also resemble junk food; low effort, repurposed but it passes for food i guess(doesn't feel good after i ingest it lol) But since it's Art, there's no way of calling it bad or unenjoyable, sigh...

same with video games but slightly later peak at early 2000s they reached their zenith, SEGA alone with its Dreamcast games were absolutely unique, revolutionary and fresh like Jet Set Radio, Phantasy Star online (which is still online today!) and Shenmue, the PS2 later had its own gems like Silent Hill 2 and Devil May Cry which both literally created their own genres, GTA III RE4 and Max Payne as well, PC gaming was also experiencing a golden age with Age of Empires II, Half Life, World of Warcraft and TES III Morrowind, Counter Strike, Deus Ex, Even new comers like Xbox started strong with fresh games like Halo and Fable both certified classics today.
i think because it was a new century people knew they need to experiment to have that futuristic tone, and it resulted in so many new ideas and entirely new genres
