I’m not entirely sure why, but I’m always excited when a video game has cooking mechanics, especially when it has a ton of options for foods you can make.
Same. It just feels good for some reason.
Cooking just feels good.
Same
Me too!
I have this strange knack for low poly video game food that I thing stems for playing the sims as a child lmao
I’m a bit surprised that you didn’t mention the Cooking Simulator games. They have a lot of detail for the food, and a ton of potential recipes. Maybe it was too similar to the Papa’s games, but still worth a mention.
I love cooking games but I’d never consider Cooking Simulator.
It’s more of a physics game. Sure, you have recipes and tools, but 8/10 times, you’re dealing with jank from trying to cut foods, pouring foods, whoops you moved your mouse too fast now your plate shattered or your food went flying and now your extinguisher blew up.
I wanted to enjoy CS but everything about it felt to me like it was more to be funny rather than provide a good/grounded/enjoyable cooking experience.
@@PwnyBrony95i agree 100%. I love me some cooking games, but i really don't like that game cause it's really about how well you can do with shit controls and it doesn't make it fun anymore.
Watching Sora cook in Kingdom Hearts 3 and Link in TOTK is just awesome
LET HIM COOK 🔥
I don't know how to cook anything but I'd be lying if I said cooking mini games in games weren't a lot of fun. Kinda interesting how games can simplify something enough to where anyone can do it and have fun.
Yeah there's something oddly satisfying about seeing a recipe come together, especially if the models for the food look really good.
LET ME COOK
Let him cook 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for appreciating the small bonding moments in FFXV. The game is very flawed but those brief moments are honestly he best parts of the game
I like these types of videos witch are just nice to have whilst eating or to have in the background, topics witch don’t specifically interest you but are entertaining to watch nonetheless. Keep it up Kiro👍
I like cooking in video games, but I hate hunger in video games that don’t need hunger
Good pizza, great pizza is also addictive with store customising and memorable customers.
Battle chef brigade blends iron chef style battles with monsters and avatar style animation.
I'd love for a game to have BotW cooking with The World Ends With You digestion system. It could work with a Dungeon Meshi game.
I'ts Kiro Talks!, Let him cook. 🧑🍳
i love cooking games and am always so happy when games have a cooking mechanic (even if it is fairly simple) it really is such a strange genre of games but i’m glad they’ve kept gaining popularity over the years
If youve got a coffe maker its even easier you just replace the pot with your cup noodle and hit start with no coffee in there
10:08 There are, both the Smoker and Campfire can Cook food. Also there are Mods like Pam's Harvestcraft that add more Food items and cooking recipes.
Based atlas pfp
I love being able to cook in games being my own hobby. I’ve been loving the Genshin Impact recipes with how varied and change with the country. My favorite part is finding the real life counterpart of the recipe from Genshin and trying to recreate the meal 🎉
when do you raid the kfc headquarters to learn the 11 herbs and spices for the limited kfc collab recipes?
What about the most stressful cooking game... Overcooked 😭😭😭💀. It can make you or break you
Bro your editing is getting so much better. I've had your bell on for like a year and it's been fun seeing you improve and never once missing. Every video is well done bite sized no bullshit commentary/education goodness. Watching your videos is like eating a nutritious yet chocolatey candy bar delivered by santa clause and handmade by willy wonka himself.
Sea of Stars has a fun cooking system. You constantly collect ingredients throughout the world. Cooking provides the primary consumables in the game.
i was falling onto my bed backwards to lie down but since i was watching the video once i hit the bed my phone shot from my hands hitting me directly on the center of my nose
My fave cooking game in the last 10 years was Battle Chef Brigade by a adult swim games. You're in chef training and you compete against other chefs in arena battles and you have to gather monsters to cook. Has perfect score on Steam apparently
I like the cooking side tasks in Paper Mario 64 and Thousand Year Door!
Don’t forget Super Paper Mario. I actually got the game guide before the actual game, and the recipe section was the part I looked at the most. True story.
Same here! Adds so much depth to the item system. I especially like when you get the cookbook in Creepy Steeple that allows Zess T. to diversify her culinary creations. Feels so rewarding!
shoutouts to fantasy life on the 3ds as well as its coming sequel on the switch, having an entire life (aka a job) dedicated to cooking, there are plenty of cool and even optional quest recipes that you get rewarded for
a minigame is usually done AND you get rewarded with better quality items and/or multiples of the recipe you were already making; not to mention as you make the same recipe you also unlock making stacks of said recipe all the way up to just getting to skip the minigame (if you WANT), but youre still highly rewarded for doing the minigame even after mastering the recipe
Your listing the Papa games like a rap was so unexpected I died laughing! Really enjoying your channel, you've you yourself a new sub! 😁
Games with cooking mechanics should also have diarrhea mechanics.
No
@@IskenderCaglarM41B441 imagine walking through the cold gerudo highlands in breath of the wild after eating some hot peppers and a pop up shows up that says “your stomach is hurting, you need to have diarrhea soon”, and then you have to fast travel back to kakariko village to spray water into impa’s toilet 😍

Really good pacing on this video, well done Kiro! Your videos keep getting better!
Thanks a bunch, I really appreciate it!
You make the best video game video essays on youtube. I'd be honored to have a delicious meal with you.
Man i forgot how DELICIOUS the food in FFXV looked.. they really nailed the textures and everything it makes my mouth water every time
So glad to end on FFXV. They went out by a river and set up a camping table and made all of the dishes in real life, took tons of photos, and used them as references for the models.
The way the food jiggles is perfect. When you make just plain toast, the bread almost slides off the plate. Ignis is just like "I can't believe you made me make you toast."
Gladio's VA also totally delivered it as a line on purpose and went over the top. We'll make our noodle dream a reality.
What a nice and relaxing video, thank you c:
The ending of this video lmaooo
I just got done eating Ramen noodles and then you start talking about cup noodles! I was meant to see this!
Just wanted to show some praise for just how enjoyable your videos are! Very well paced, sharp editing, with unique concepts that keep things fresh. Definitely excited for each new upload
Minecraft: So you can have your cake *and* eat it too.
My first intro to a cooking system in a game was Tales of Symphonia. It was great, and I always thought more games should have that kind of thing, especially rpg's.
You shouldn't be too surprised by the embedded advertising tho. That's gonna be the new normal soon.
ive been here since your second vid. keep up the great work!
I'm glad you've stuck around for so long!
Cant wait to try these food hacks irl
Great video ^^
Fun fact: the director of Sonic Unleashed worked on Final Fantasy 15, which explains the incredibly detailed food models.
“This might be a good spot to find some ingredients”
Legitimately this should be the perfect video to place a hello fresh sponsor in the video, and I was kinda expecting something like that, and ngl, I felt it is a crime that did not happen tbh. :)
Total big missed opportunity in such a good video though. :)
I love that I always think FXV when I think about cooking in vídeo games and then... the music is the first thing in this video
Sukuna of rice and ruin has the wildest cooking system. All you do is grow rice so you need to either send forage parties for or trade for most ingredients. They ingredients spoil in days. Pairing small meals in the Japanese style gets you various stat buffs and cutscenes. Then you use your poop to make fertilizer for the rice. Amazing
The cooking/crafting in new horizons is very shallow
It's funny to see how cookie clicker keeps on reaping souls. That game IS insanely addictive and I had to stop, cleared cache and cookies after 2 days of nonstop playing or else I was gonna lose my soul to this game lol
Are u gonna mention pokemon u forgot to in the desert video Pokémon has some cool deserts 😅
cooking game fans have had quite a lot to eat in the recent years, pun not intended. we've got games like cooking simulator, venba, nainai's recipe, and cook, serve, delicious
Can't believe this video isn't sponsored by Hello Fresh or something
Dragons crown had a great cooking section as a rest between areas and you could use the parts of the monsters you killed in the previous section in your meals. The art was mouth watering too!
I remembered i played a lot of Order Up on the Wii. Its a decent cooking sim game. It used the motion controls fairly well
yes! i love cooking in games, i wish there were more in depth ones.
Kiro Cooks
Sonic cooking at the spitroast tho. Certainly his most memorable moment in gaming. xD
I used to play Papa's Freezaria a lot as a kid
It's really fun you should try it
I found this video in hopes of a discussion of the game design behind cooking mechanics in games. A lil disappointed that it was just "heres a game with cooking, heres how it works." like a weird tutorial video for multiple different systems in multiple different games, but ah well.
One thing I wanted to add is that Minecraft's cooking is very, VERY, barebones.
I personally play with a mod that adds onto this barebones system, called Farmer's Delight. It's a small little mod that adds a new system of actual cooking, the Cooking Pot, where you can make a plethora of new soups and stews, as well as some other assembled meals crafted at the regular ol' crafting table.
It also gives these meals effects, such as Comfort (increases natural health regeneration even with low Hunger), and Nourishment (prevents hunger drain entirely), the main idea is to provide more overall meal options to the game, with effects that prevent the need to eat as often so you can focus on other more important aspects of the game.
I genuinely struggle to play without some of those extra food options sometimes, they're just that good.
11:12 Don’t forget the campfire! Aside from being a source of light and making more convincing chimney smoke for builds, you can also use the campfire to cook four pieces of food at a time
(in Bedrock, idk if you can do it in Java too)
1:23 You just got lucky there and got a critical cook. Which is a mechanic in Breath of the Wild and the sequel Tears of the Kingdom.
What's with videogame NPCs named Mindy, I swear
You keep finding more and more things I would have never thought of and make them interesting and entertaining. I haven't done much cooking in video games just because I haven't played those games.
I know there is a Game & Watch game called Chef or Cook, I forget. I played a version of it when you play as Peach on Game & Watch Gallery 4 on GBA. But really you're just bouncing dough off a frying pan enough times for it to warm up and then you let it fall in Yoshi's mouth I think.
I know in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl you can mix berries into poffins which is sort of like cooking. You're just stirring it with the touch stylus. Oh yeah and I did do a little cooking in Pokemon Shield.
ramen is a very easy thing to make extra good, this much is certainly true. lmk if you ever want some easy recipes to get you started!
I want to mention the Wii/PS3 game Order Up!!!, it’s like the Papas games, but the key differences is that you can hire up to 2 assistant to do a task, with each of them having a gimmick/specializations, and a spice mechanic
I love your videos
One second in and I heard FFXV’s Relax & Reflect I knew this is going to be a good vid
Can you next do final bosses in video games for your next video?
That's a cool idea, my only concern is it'd be a really spoiler heavy video.
@@kirotalksyt Oh Okay I understand well here are some video ideas

this is the best video ever
At the end there you forgot the actual best part about cup noodles!
Killing giant monsters for the ingredients!
IM SO HUNGRY RIGHT NOW
I couldn't have been the only one who misread the thumbnail
You just hit me with a wave of nostalgia by mentioning the Papa's series.
Another game I really enjoy the cooking mechanics of is Project Zomboid. It's very freeflow, and you gotta make sure it's not too unhealthy for ur character otherwise there may be side effects to your survival :)
I love cooking in games so much that i literally can't play Minecraft anymore without the Farmer's Delight mod and its addons
my favorite cooking game is competitive gen 3 pokemon, where you can grab even the most doodoo looking low tier and cook like crazy with it, like this one guy who brought a duskull to a huge tournament and it soloed 2 enemy pokemon for the win
Burger shop 1 and 2 are really good games with a lot of content and food
One of the best cooking games I've played is Epic Chef, its cute little goofy story aside, all ingredients can be put in any of 3 slots, but they all have effects when used with something else, either a grain or a tomato, or whatever, so theres all sorts of combos you can use.
No Cook, Serve, Delicious! that was my favorite cooking game
cooking mama is honestly fire
Cooking mama and the papa games were the cooking games of my childhood.
Here's a video suggestion: Fishing in video games

Who let em' cook?
I cannot look at Coleman products without getting emotional thanks to Final Fantasy XV.
I always thought FF15s food system was so good. Eating well gives you enormous buffs. Got a big boss fight coming up? Better eat well. Loved that so much, dont get why more games dont adopt that. Natural motivation to really open up the cooking systems whether its collecting ingredients or cooking minigame or fleshing out the game world with all the different cuisines
Thought that said choking lol
i edge to your videos kiro
This video makes me hungry, only to realize: I haven't had breakfast yet!
Also, with the Cooking Mama series, some of the DS games are pretty good and the 5th one called: Bon Appetite is easily the best one on 3DS. Console versions aren't quite as good from what I've heard.
Hoping you'd cover a game called Burger Shop it's a really fun cooking game that's getting a third game. Which is in beta on steam right now.
Yummy food great because I’m hungry so this is some what good
This video is amazing!! Dare I say… you cooked? Subscribed :)
If I want to eat any meal from a game. I’d enjoyably eat from Tears Of The Kingdom’s variety of dishes, cause they all look delicious 😋.
They should add cooking to gta 6. Also add more food, fridge system like in mafia 2 etc.
They should add diahrea
sad that you didn't mention the best cooking game out there, cooking simulator
The Palico chef’s dishes in Monster Hunter World always had my mouth watering 🤤
loved hearing this guy yap about cooking in games i already know, just sitting here like "mhm yep thats true :3" i loove cooking. food is lyfe
I recommend you to play “Grande Pizza Buona Pizza”
I eat dimensions for lunch.
W video
14:13 why does he sound like the voice Tim Rogers does in his videos sometimes lol
you forgot the best cooking series, burger shop
yes omg
food.
sometimes foods in videogames look tastier than foods irl
Dang, what a topic to not have a Hello Fresh sponsor.
Gordon ramsay will gonna love it
Trust me, I’ve played Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, and i know that you can cook meals with Chi Chi in that game
