Breitling Superocean Heritage Review - How good is it really?

  • In this video we take a look at the SOH 44 with the B20 Tudor designed movement. I think it is an extremely sharp watch, and with taking into account its' very real drawbacks, it still stacks up favorably to other popular divers from Omega and Tudor. You guys watch the video and tell me where you feel it falls in the market. For the right price I think its hard to beat
    Big thanks again to my friend Chris who traded watches with me. Go check out his channel here, he is a great guy and crazy watch fan like you and me-

    I bought the new 2022 Green Dial version on the rubber deployant strap and I could not be happier with the fit and finish of this watch. I will say that it has been running I but odd, sometimes fast sometimes slow, but all in all it’s close to in spec. I bought a demagnetizer and that seems to have helped the issue a bit. I can say with 100% certainty that I would have rather had the silicon hairspring simply because my work sitting at a computer all day and on
    My phone constantly I believe is causing these magnetic issues I am having!

    Dear Bruce, I really like your videos! Congratulations! I have a hidroconquest blue 43 ceramic. Great watch! Do you think that this Brietling, comparing to my Longines, worth the money diference? Should I sell my Longines and buy a Brietling? Thank you!

    • @WatchUnwind
      @WatchUnwind 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey buddy, I also have a Longines hydroconquest but it’s the non-ceramic 41mm in black and I recently tried on the superocean I can definitely tell you there is a quality different and in my opinion it’s worth the money. In house-ish movement, it’s going to hold its value better, polish is better, dial clarity and anti reflective coating is better, and the clasp is much better if you get it with the rubber strap.
      The hydroconquest is a HELL of a watch for the money though. Great heritage, well made and detailed, reliable Swiss ETA movement. I am very seriously considering picking up a superocean heritage but I’m going to keep my hydroconquest as well . It was my first Swiss watch so it’s special to me. I’d say it matters how much you like your Longines and how your budget is looking. I do not think you would regret the decision as long as it didn’t break the bank and put you in a bad spot to get it.
      Please check out and subscribe to my channel if I was able to help you out. and if I pickup the superocean I can do a side by side with the Longines

    • @joelopic
      @joelopic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keep your Longines, and buy an Oris Aquis. Keep them both instead of spending the cash. Nice watch, nice movement but poor lume and heavy enough to chew your arm off after a while. If you must, go the titanium Pelagos. Much more comfortable.

    My goal is to get this or the Breitling avenger 2 seawolf yellow as next years watch. This year I got the lld bronze from Longines. And I traded a old piece for a hydroconquest in khaki green on rubber just to have a modern diver.
    2023 ended up being the year of green for me. 2022 I got a panda chrono and next year I'll go for a blue with the soh or yellow if I go for the avenger.

      Holy cow, if you Bruce does a review on the Tudor most underated watch. The Double Date. It would make alot of people happy! I have considered the in-house double date for å while now, because it is a heck of a deal, even new at an AD (with a decent amount of discount included)! Because of the discount the price is cheaper then a discounted new Breitling Colt 41! Which is a bargain. Were I live (Norway), it is also the only Tudor which doesn't have a 3 - 6 months waiting list. By the way i love your channel, and how subjective you are on each and every watch! Treating each and every piece fairly and with the right criticism. Your channel has been my go to channel, helping me make a purchasing decision! Keep up the good work!

      @dannyh73 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don’t get me wrong, I would certainly take that experience in to consideration if I were thinking of purchasing another.
      But I would add no company can be perfect, sometimes one slips through manufacturing and quality control. I’ve never had a problem with a Breitling. It’s not an issue I have heard of occurring often. And this watch has a different movement and a longer warranty.

  • @InChristJesus87
    @InChristJesus87 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I use to be infatuated by this watch that is until I tried it on. I have a 7inch wrist and to me it felt clunky and uncomfortable. The bracelet clasp is crap and frankly I thought the Milanese bracelet was going to feel as nice as it looks but that wasn't the case either. I went with a Tudor Black Bay blue bezel steel bracelet and never looked back. I will say the best diver at the sub 5 grand mark is the Seamaster 300M and I've got that one arriving. I wish more TH-camrs would concentrate on that piece because it knocks the rest of them out without breaking a sweat. I know it's because so many have a connection and nostalgic reference with the Bond 300M variant so as fickle as watch guys can be they cant appreciate the new model on its own merit but trust me folks the Seamaster is the one to go to. The Submariner better watch out with the Seamster because it's in the ring bringing the fight on.

    The lack of lume is a bit of a let-down. After all: This is a diver - and a $3500+ diver at that. Other than that, it's a stunning looking piece. I'm currently thinking about getting a "true" luxury watch and this one (in 42mm) is on my list alongside the Omega Seamaster 300 and the Aqua Terra. Seeing the lume on the Breitling and considering the movements, I think I still lean towards the Omegas.

    It actually is a bit unfortunate they aren't using silicon hairsprings, as Breitlings are somewhat prone to getting magnetized. For me, it's the biggest failure in Breitlings current movements since I've been a victim of a magnetized Breitling (magnetized while in shipment) and heard from those that serviced it that it is a common issue (for watches that are sent back for servicing). It's preventable, though, and shouldn't really be a heavy concern unless you are in environments that can cause this. The Tudor movement is so solid, it's a great partnership.

    Nice looking watch but those lugs need to be trimmed back. They are too large and don’t look proportionally correct. Also it would be nice to see an oyster style bracelet.

    I have one with a cream dial.. the movement is smooth and the design is so classy. This should be on everyones sub 5k short list imo.
    Some things i dont like.. the lume is meh.
    The milanese mesh strap is not the best. I wear itbon the mesh rubber strap and feels so much better in every way.

      Why would you actually use it for diving? For all my water sports I use a Gshock. Easier to read, more reliable and doesn’t matter if it gets bashed. Dive watches aren’t actually meant for diving. We just pretend that they are.

    You're right, the clasp on this watch is absolute shit. Why wouldn't a watch at this price range come with a good claps. Omega, Rolex, Tudo, and the list goes on of watches in this price range with way better clasps.

  • @AhmadThabet-qw1kc
    @AhmadThabet-qw1kc 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The lume is very poor for a dive watch with no minute divisions. Otherwise, it is an excellent Dress and Sports watch, in spite of the 200 meters water resistance. For three thousand US $ you can get a better watch, like Tudor Black Bay or Omega Sea Master.

    Buongiorno Bruce,io lo possiedo,ma ho notato che la ghiera "lunetta"a scatti non è tanto stabile,anzi oltre ad avere un po' di gioco tra uno scatto e l'altro...premendo sulla lunetta si ottiene un effetto "bascula"un po' su e giù.
    Vorrei sapere come togliere instabilità alla ghiera,e se è un difetto generale o solo il mio.
    Grazie

      tynan nida not trying to sell you one, but I love mine so much, it’s a 42mm on a 7 inch wrist and it’s my most comfortable watch. it’s so well built, the crown action is superb, screwing in and out is perfect, winding so smooth, accuracy reliability is perfect , having owned it for over 2 yrs, i cannot complain i love it. The looks of the watch continue to amaze me more than any other watch i own. I have a Pelagos, Same mvmnt, Rolex batgirl, Omega planet ocean, GS snowflake, so I can compare a bit. Apart from the clasp, it a hell of a watch, The milanese is very wel built and comfortable and beautifull like nothing else, if you like this style. It’s also a strap monster, on a rubber tropic, it looks the part! those hands are biggest thing for me, it looks just so quirky and beautifull at the same time. Try it!
