UPDATE: As some people have brought up, I messed up on "SS recaps" during the "Below the Surface" section. I thought the 'SS' stood for "Station Square", not "Super Sonic", which it actually stood for. Pretty much, the characters' stories have story recaps whenever you quit playing midway through a character story, this includes the Super Sonic story, even though it's easily the shortest story in the game. Not many people know the Super Sonic story also has a recap, so the more you know! I knew I wasn't going to get EVERY fact on SPEEPS' iceberg right, but I hope you all enjoyed the video regardless!
For anyone wondering, the "strategy guide lore" refers to one of the original Japanese strategy guides from 1998. in said guide, more context is given about the Echidna Clan and the aftermath of Chaos' attack. First, the book confirms Chaos is a mutated Chao, second, it states that after Tikal sealed chaos away, the surviving members of the clan were responsible for lifting the island into the air, confirming that Angel island was at one point connected to the Mystic Ruins, which in and of itself is implied to be part of Sonic 2's Westside island. Finally, this and the SA2 JP guide also suggests that Angel Island is only able to float due to chaos being inside the Master Emerald, which is why it still falls again after the Master Emerald is restored. The energy from Chaos' presence ran out.
@Bug In the sonic 2 Jp manual Tails is said to have met sonic in a forest. this lines up with the Tails flashback in SA1. there's also the fact that tails lives in the mystic ruins, which also lines up with info from the classic era, stating that tails lives on westside island. Bear in mind the connection between West side island and the Mystic Ruins is similar to the idea that "shadow is based on the hidden palace mural". Both are details that are implied to be true via previous games and sometimes later ones, but never officialy stated as fact by Sonic Team.
Actually in sinic chronicles is where they confirm that perfect chaos was responsible of making the island float by just existing, in the japanese strat guide they stated that the remaining equidna used the power of the master emetald to make the island float to protect the m.e. so the chaos insident never happen again Fun fact if sonic chronicles was still canon that would mean that the perfect chaos that appear on station square is nowhere near as strong as his past version that wipe out the echidnas
15:34 I'm not sure but Casinopolis Clone might refer to the fact that if you spin dash in the right way in Station Square you can get on top of the train station building and from there at some times in the day/night cycle (I don't remember which) you can see the Casinopolis area with wrong textures
Chika monkey was a suggested name for the chao. This was a proposed solution to the name Chaos and Chao sounding to similar in the eyes of a playtester.
13:19 I believe it might be referring to recaps during the Super Sonic story, based on the initials. I believe that would be more obscure, because the Super Sonic story is so short and can be done easily in a single sitting
"Sorry, Charlie" is a phrase that comes from old American tv commercials for Starkist Tuna in the 1960's. Their mascot, a tuna fish named Charlie, morbidly wants to be minced and canned, but the narrator says "sorry, Charlie. We want tuna that tastes good, not tuna with good taste." It became a popular phrase for a long time, but I guess it's lost to time for younger generations.
Ok, so I think I got a good idea on what the "Tikal paradox" is talking about. It's referring to how in Gamma's story, after capturing Froggy, Tikal sends him to past. While in Big's story, Gamma steals Froggy with no Tikal in sight.
I think the South American curse is referring to the fact that one of the devs for Sonic Adventure actually got sick during their trip to South America.
The DX being based on a prototype theory actually has some more evidence not covered in the video. Specifically, early screenshots of the DX port from Nintendo World Report show differences that are also in some pre TGS builds. For example, the cutscenes with Amy before and during her encounter with sonic in SS take place during the day and some of the screenshots themselves seem to have been taken on the same frame as the DC beta screenshots. There's also the fact that screenshots from the DC beta were used to promote DX.
After looking through the comments to see that no one's pointed it out yet, I just want to say it's pretty likely that "Knuckles was created by Eggman" refers to some idle dialogue that Knuckles can only say when he's in Eggman's Mystic Ruins base. Which of course is usually impossible in regular gameplay. He says "Location: Place of Creation." Here's a video showcasing the clip. th-cam.com/video/tWFs8wN_oT0/w-d-xo.html Anyways, the video has been really enjoyable so far and I can't wait to finish watching it. : )
21:45 This was actually referenced in the second season of Sonic Prime. When Sonic is fighting Chaos Sonic, Chaos Sonic starts explaining all of the merchandise he plans to sell, and he finishes with "Chaos Sonic's Chaos Tonic!".
8:24 I think it also talks about the leftover capsule that sits WAAAY DOWN Speed Highway at the start. I think it was used in the E3 version when you finish the stage after the wall-run section.. the whole old stage from that section is down there, but since it's under a death pit you can't reach it normally. As for the capsule that you mention, I think it's present in SADX too but the wall you had to walk over to get out of boundaries got fixed so it's impossible :P 15:22 it's probably about those.. weird areas you can get some stages to get rewards?? I have no idea. The Casinopolis one is probably about a weird bug or something that happens in Station Square sometimes.. if you get close to a door in the Hotel and press "E" in the PC version you can see a weird Casinopolis render sitting out there with only one texture, ngl it scared the hell out of me when I found it the first time, it still does tbh. 33:00 I think it also means SADX uses old prototype voices for Tails, Knuckles and Amy from the E3 instead of the original voices for some unknown reason... but only in-game, you can hear them when you jump or attack. Plus, the intro of the game it's an old unfinished version. 38:59 In the japanese version probably... I mean, he's japanese, right? 41:05 omg I used Amy to raise my chaos when I was really young and I'm not sure tbh... but I wasn't the best at taking care of Chaos back then so I leave it as a 50/50
Nice iceberg video. I am surprised Mecha Sonic in the Egg Carrier wasn't mentioned though I guess it wasn't much of a mystery except for the fact that it wasn't used in any way... Unless this is the same Mecha Sonic from Sonic Pocket Adventure (even though the Sprite is based on Sonic 2's Mecha Sonic but that can just be done as a reuse of assets as the game seems to just use modified 8-bit sprites of the 16-bit sprites of the original trilogy) but that wasn't officially confirmed. Just wanted to talk about this since it always interested me ever since I saw this robot in the Egg Carrier.
I'm surprised they blew up only in 2020 (then again, I can hazard a massive, global guess why), considering I've been seeing icebergs made since the early 2010s, most notably the "deep web" iceberg
I believe E3 NPCs could be a reference to the fact that pre-release footage and screenshots show the hubs to be much more highly populated than the final game.
That Tails' Emerald Coast spawn point is actually caused by Tails having no spawn point in the code, as a result the game just defaults to loading him at 0,0,0; this happens if you use cheats to put players into other stages they aren't meant to play (with some exceptions, usually remnants of earlier builds). Another thing I'm surprised the iceberg didn't mention was that the Crystal Ring actually slightly increases Sonic's max speed, and was used in speedruns (such as the old GDQ run) before they decided to skip it, finding out that collecting it negated any speed gains later on.
13:19 The reason it’s called “SS Recaps” is because it’s referring to Super Sonic’s recaps and their interesting quirks. Here’s something I copied from the the cutting room floor page: Inaccessible Super Sonic Recaps On the first playthrough of the story Super Sonic has recap summaries just like every other character, but due to Super Sonic's story never saving after cutscenes, only two of them can ever be seen. This is because Sonic is in the past at these points and the only ways to save the game are to either complete an action stage or obtain the Crystal Ring.
46:58 omg, I mostly remember Ashura from the fan series, Sonic Origins/Rise of the Brotherhood series by Milanous. Having the character as Sonic's brother. Great series. If everyone remembers that.
15:08 There’s an actual playable gliding tutorial that is set in Red Mountain, in one of the games earlier versions, I think it’s the autodemo? Speeps has a video of them playing the tutorial on their channel
@Coop Where'd you get that photo at 23:43 from? It looks exactly like one that I took using my phone's camera back in January. I'm not upset about it or anything. I'm just curious.
37:43 I think this is another joke entry referencing the Mario 64 Iceberg where the creator theorized that Wet Dry World has a brain texture, or is is a brain itself. I think that entry in the Sonic Adventure Iceberg is basically saying the same thing, because for some people, including myself, get similar feelings from Wet Dry World when you're in Mystic Ruins. Some sort of Negative Emotional Aura
I think Pachacamac always has his eyes closed which is why they look like that. There's a black line running across the bottom there which Sonic characters always had on their eyelids back in this era
Chaos is actually always been a chao, check the sonic channel it stated his a mutated chao, there’s also special chaos that is immortal and took an appearance of chaos
I have checked every comment and none mentioned that the gamma is useless thing is meant to be about the unused cutscene if you failed final egg as E-102 "y"
I had that glitch in sonic 2 where sonic turns green and black it can happen in sonic adventure dreamcast it can occur if the dreamcast acts up or i guess if the disc is smudged or scratched i had it happen in station square one time he had a pure black body and he had yellow shoes. One time he had 0 the robots texture on sonics stomach yes i am not kidding it was screwed and a lot of times the sound and voices can screw up like one time when sonic jumped he had tails hurt sound and other sounds and text can screw up to it might seeem unbelievable becayse it is ongly triggered under those methods if it ever happens again i will make video of it.
chao transporter torture chamber probably refers to the chao garden in the autodemohaving a chao transported that makes grinding noises when you put your chao into it and sent it away like it is grinding the chao up. link to a video from speeps highway on the autodemo chao garden with the transporter in question th-cam.com/video/W6OUh9JGDf0/w-d-xo.html
I am surprised that big the cat texture glitch in dreamcast super sonics story is not on the iceberg not all sa1 copies have it is is in the infamous defective discs and some good later copies then it was fixed. by the way i did not know the knuckles tribe had a texture glitch that is cool i wonder what triggered it.
19:45 Sorry but I'm gonna have to strongly disagree about Gamma's story being "filler". Yes, it's not part of the game's main story but it's the best character story in the game.
Being filler in the sense that it doesn't add much to the overall story, not because it's bad. Gamma story is almost it's own self contained adventure.
3 things 1, kinda surprised that the Sonic 3 and Knuckles dragon wasn't on this iceberg, considering it's one of the few direct ties between the classic and modern games and yet is a little-known detail (i.e. the Sonic 3 and Knuckles manual said that Knuckles's ancestors were wiped out by a dragon, which was directly followed upon to be Perfect Chaos) 2, reading that post again, I hate to say it.... "E-102 is trans" was almost certainly a joke, possibly a transphobic one if you read it negatively enough (the Reddit post I mean). At the very least, it came off as a parody of the "YASS QUEEN SLAY" meme 3, the Tails ghost entry is my favorite just because it's very arguably the only one that carries the same "feel" as the GTA myths and legends. Sure, it's just a rendering bug, but the idea that there could be "ghost" characters is the kind of spooky myth that a game like Sonic Adventure needs more of.
Great and interesting video just FYI Sonic X isn't canon it was just something extra to help sell the Adventure games. I hope to see All for games four the Dreamcast/Gamecube Era remade someday these games are overdue for them.

When you evolve a Neutral Chao, it turns into Chaos, especially the aqua blue Chao.
This is epic

I was in the middle of playing this game and the video was amazingly put up at the same time. Excellent work, Coop.
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG IS REAL AND HE KNOWS WHERE YOU LIVE
This was a super fun video to watch! Even I learned some new things about SA1, too!
When Amy's limiter is removed, the Goddess of Chaos walks the world once more.
It's true, just look at SA2's 2 player mode, Amy can use Chaos Control even better than Sonic and Shadow can!
Nice iceberg video. I am surprised Mecha Sonic in the Egg Carrier wasn't mentioned though I guess it wasn't much of a mystery except for the fact that it wasn't used in any way... "It was a big meme in 2020"
I've been watching iceberg videos religiously since too lmao, it's just such a good format
I'm surprised they blew up only in 2020 (then again, I can hazard a massive, global guess why), considering I've been seeing icebergs made since the early 2010s, most notably the "deep web" iceberg

Me too. It's almost as if she manipulated the cast.
@@Gnidel You are too clever for TH-cam, please focus your efforts on solving world hunger
37:45 i think this is a fluke, and it’s actually referring to the brain diagram in wet dry world in super Mario 64
15:37 when u get out of bounds there is an unused casinopolis
I love icebergs. I love your content. This video is a blessing
17:26 this happened to me while i was playing and i was so damn confused, (yes my name is charlie)
35:21 this is technically canon. In sonic battle is revealed that those rings are weights she uses to get stronger

Great job on the iceberg I would really love for you to cover more of them in the future!
The Latin used in the option is likely placeholder text-it reads, “I think, therefore I am.” Like the old saying and all that.
12:26 his eyes are closed
Really loved the iceberg with the neat little entries, awesome video 🔥🔥🔥
I think the drug addiction theories one is talking about the knuckles drug addiction (or whatever its called) theory

17:28 allow me to explain Sorry Charlie is reference to advertisement for Charlie the Tuna in the commercial it always says sorry Charlie.
Thank god I thought my game was haunted.
@Coop Where'd you get that photo at 23:43 from?
It looks exactly like one that I took using my phone's camera back in January.

Beta Windy Valley reminds me of Hill Top Zone
17:36 Dude that happened to me I was so scared.
I automatically assumed the "Mystic Ruin Brain" entry was a reference to the "Wet-Dry World Brain Diagram" from the Mario 64 Iceberg.
Chaos is actually always been a chao, check the sonic channel it stated his a mutated chao, there’s also special chaos that is immortal and took an appearance of chaos
Nice iceberg video! If you can, tell Sonic I said ''hello''!
'SONIC THE HEDGEHOG'
was added to the list.
Wasn't Jingle E also speculated to be the Super Sonic theme before they scrapped Super Sonic in action stages?
I have checked every comment and none mentioned that the gamma is useless thing is meant to be about the unused cutscene if you failed final egg as E-102 "y"

Sonic The Hedgehog is NOT real
