  • Today we go through the process of changing the coils on your Motorcycle. this is the process from any 4 cylinder Motorcycle from 1970 to the early 2000's when manufacturers switched to coil packs. even then the process is very similar.

Any more videos on this GS1000? Current project I'm about to dive into.

I replaced my coils on my 82 850 gl mine were short also just used one bolt to mount them since it had no directions with it on hooking up wires so I was guessing they their red was positive and they seem to be working ok.they were cheap china coils but they work fine. Thanks for the video

I’m getting a 1980 gs1000 tomorrow and the owner says it needs new wiring and I cannot find any wiring harnesses online if anyone can tell me where to get one I’d be unimaginably thankful

Unfortunately theirs very little aftermarket for the old suzuki gs models. The easiest bet may just to look through the owners manual and just point out what wires are missing/ damaged and just repair and replace what's needed.

Hey man, I'm working on a '79 GS1000 myself right now and just saw that one of my coil wires is sliced in half :/. Do you happen to remember which aftermarket coils you used? I'm probably going to have to replace the whole ignition system.

These coils were the cheapest Chinese replacements I could find on ebay for the bike hence why they weren't a perfect bolt on. They still use the same leads and everything as most bikes with a points ignition. They work great too!

@@Realboostedbikes Thank you for the response! I just installed them but I decided to drill holes in the frame so they fully bolt on. Spark plugs coming tomorrow and hopefully the beast will start!

Why did you change your coils? I have orange spark and I am not sure what is wrong.

I lost spark in 2 cylinders from one of the coils going bad so I just replace them both
