    Love watching you bring a bike back to life, really enjoyed ‘basket case’ and can’t wait to see you able to give this back to the guy ready to ride. 👍

    I enjoy your style of vlogging Andy. You take the time to show the detail needed rather than make it all fluffy and fast forward the actual work. Anyone learning from you needs that time to process what they're seeing. Good pedagogy Sir.

    Thx Andy..... I do like an honest vloger who shows mistakes and corrects them.... nice job.... 🏍

    Thanks so much Andy. This helps me work out the electrickery spaghetti on my GS1000G. Ive looked long and hard for this exact info. And, you just made look too easy and for me understandable. On the same bike. Awesome. Thanks so much mate.

    Nice video showing to keep calm when doing electrics, even when sometimes you just want to chuck it out the window

    Nice work mate, neat and tidy every time for me with electrics, saves hassles further down the road. Well done. :)

    got to love a mystery wire or two

  • @Scoottoots
    @Scoottoots 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Watching that felt orderly. You can always tell when someone knows what they are doing. And you learn from them, so thanks for that. I bet those mystery wires are for the side stand warning light switch. Thanks for doing this. It helps demystify things ;-)

      I think that the blue wire that's spliced in is part of the safety circuit too, time will tell.

    Andy the bike is ALIVE as you can see it started the 3rd time without you that was the best part lol

    this is rather bizzare i was looking at the exact same terminal kit from the same company last night

    That is the best way to do it, one wire at a time, personally I love rewiring bikes, very theraputic, there again I used to be an auto sparks back when vehicles weren't computers on wheels
    Could've saved yourself making up that new red wire, the fuse box supply comes from the + post on the starter solenoid

    • @ANDY5
      @ANDY5  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know I did wonder about that, I’ve seen plenty of them fitted to the solenoid post. I think I might move it back, thanks mate.

    Me and electrics are like chalk and cheese can't get my head round it. Sparky friend of mine said think of it as running water in a pipe which helped a bit.Loving the vids mate.

      I'm thinking about doing a series on understanding basic electrics and how to approach it.

    I prefer a nice clean wiring issue. Than a stinky messy gas or oil leak. Hope that don't make me less Manly!

    Might be an idea to lay the cam cover over it, be a shame if something fell down the cam chain tunnel.

    Great video Andy...really liked your soldering technique...thanks for sharing...did I notice damage on one of the engine fins?

    • @ANDY5
      @ANDY5  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it has a few knocks and bruises. It looks like it's been down the road at least once.

    Another great video,
    Do you find that with old wiring it becomes tarnished and takes a lot cleaning before it can be soldered?
    Vehicle wiring products are a great company we use them all the time.
    Your a brave man working away without the cam cover. If that was me I would be trying to fish something out of the crankcase by now.

    • @ANDY5
      @ANDY5  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you tend to get those issues with old wiring due to the cathode and anode affect of the frame and battery. It's worse with bikes that have a positive earth because there is no cathodic protection for the electrical wiring and the electrolysis turns the copper wire into creeping green death. Of course the trade off for having negatively earthed systems is that the frame becomes the anode and corrodes. I'm surprised I haven't dropped anything down there either.

    Nice video Andy. A tip: these, pluss a heat gun, will make life a lot simpler when soldering wires: rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F122492970537
    Also, I would throw som anti-cease on the bolt threads in that press in nut. Aluminum +steel likes to corrode.
    Otherwise, she seems to be coming along nicely. Good job :-)

      Andy's Motorcycle Obsessions they are really great when soldering on the bike, eliminates most of the urge for a third arm. I've used them for about 9 years now at work, it's the best way to join wires in my opinion. Look here for a demonstration : th-cam.com/video/24FjjIVpk9U/w-d-xo.html

      Too late, Delboy beat me to it. He just uploaded a video with these, Sealey branded.

    • @TheJackman88
      @TheJackman88 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I just saw that. Funny. He did an ok job with them too, although, I don't see the point of the crimp ones. They are more expensive, and create a bigger hard point, which is a downside on a loom. Less tapering out from the hardpoint also, because of shorter heatshrink at the end. If you are going to be pulling on them with force, they are strong in that sense, but I don't do that with wiring... May be easier to install at first, but whit the ones with just solder, you use the heatshrink too hold them together while you melt the solder. Takes 2-3 practice runs, and you're a master at it in my experience :)
