  • We almost cancelled this flight due to weather, but didn’t. We got 5” of snow overnight, and then ran into icing on our way to Seattle. En Route, we talk about what owners might want to know about flying this plane in the winter.

    Thanks for your video!! Is so intresting and educating....I’m in the process of upgrading from a cirrus sr22t and considering the tbm or pilatus and your video helps me understand the turboprops and the tbm. Please continue to post! Andres.

    That was a pretty gnarly gust that smacked you guys on short final. I thought you was going around because of the delayed reaction. Once he said hurry up and get it straight you cleaned it up very nicely. Kudos!

    What's with all the head shaking? I wanted to enjoy the video, however, the lack of patience demonstrated during some ATC transmissions made the video frustrating to watch.

      Thanks for letting me know. Mostly I was concerned with the possibility that snow would fall and freeze to the wing while waiting for atc ifr clearance. Also ice in the descent was a problem too. Neither of those make me comfortable.

    listening to the right seat passenger/safety pilot, I heard on a previous video he flew KC-10s. I thought it was funny to hear his stories of having to clear snow off of an aircraft, I bet he wished he had his AF crewchiefs that day :) Good flight you could tell it was bumpy from the ceiling camera bouncing in the aft facing camera view.

    One wing low and crosses ruder ;-) You did´nt expect to be blown of from the left and need to react faster to stay on rwy heading :-)

    How bad is the noise for passengers? Need headsets or not? Thanks and love the videos, super informative

      Passengers nearly always prefer noise-cancelling headsets or earplugs in the TBM. I understand 5 blade prop is a little quieter, but I'd be surprised if it makes a big difference.

    Why do you have to TO without the yaw damper disconnect the yaw damper for landing ?

      Good question - I’m not sure, but I assume it’s because you will have to fight YD when making rudder inputs for landing. If one lands with YD on, trims appear weird after landing but it’s not a serious problem (or so I’m told)

    You should say GS armed then alive and then captured...is what we say...same with the LOC armed, alive and capture...

    Very good content, but if I may suggest we need to see more of your displays, more of what you are seeing. Too much vid time focused on the pilots we need more substance. On another video you had a camera on the big MFD but I never saw a view of it!

      Yes - I'm trying to do better. I'll experiment with a different camera setup and hopefully get better MFD footage
