  • SO I've got this cherry log kicking around my workshop its a crown with branches sticking out the end. What I'm going to do is chop the branch stubs off and use them to turn mushrooms. Pretty simple yet fun to do....I hope you enjoy the video.

If I find a place to put all my scrap wood I'd have loads of space....cheers Moley

Hello. Great job! I also wanted to prepare cherries for turning. I cut down unnecessary branches in the garden with a diameter of 10-15 cm and put them in the workshop in March last year.
But just a couple of weeks later I was surprised that absolutely all my supplies were cracked. Huge cracks all the way down to the center. What a pity it was, because cherries smell so good.
Tell us how you dry this wood so that it does not crack?

This is the thing about cherry wood...it cracks....all mine has...when it is freshly cut down you must make time to cut it into turning blanks and dip the ends in hot wax....or like me just use the cracks as a feature...hope this helps....thanks for watching
