- Where can you find the best Italian food in New York City? @NOTANOTHERCOOKINGSHOW's Stephen Cusato recommends Emilio's Ballato, located at 55 E Houston Street in Soho. Emilio's is as old school as it gets-a classic "red sauce joint" that offers behemoth portions of chicken parmesan and spaghetti al pomodoro. But to get the most out of Emilio's, you have to act like a regular, which means ordering secret, off-menu specialties, and entering through the kitchen like it's a mf'ing Scorsese flick. As the mastermind behind Not Another Cooking Show, Stephen knows a thing or two about hearty Italian-American cooking. And on the premiere episode of Rec Team NYC, he breaks down the keys to enjoying a life-changing meal at one of New York's most legendary Italian eateries.
At Rec Team NYC, we invite our favorite creators to "recommend" one special place for viewers to visit. Our mission is to spotlight corners of New York (and other cities) that are amazing, but sometimes overlooked. We're brand new here. With all due respect you have a great channel great food. Although the way you’re handling Donald Trump FNY. And anybody else there who disagrees with the rest of America.
Steve walking in through the kitchen like he's in Goodfellas >
Haha yeah too funny
Trying to look fly
For everyone asking what a veal pork chop is, just know that Steve is living in 2054. This is a futuristic hybrid meat that the casual carnivore could never comprehend. Steve is playing chess with this order while everyone else is playing checkers
This style of Italian restaurant is indicative of some of nicest I’ve dined at. Elegant, yet simplistic cuisine at its best. Steve‘s got great taste - pun intended!
I cannot eat pork for some gastrointestinal reasons, but next time I am in NY I will dine at Balatto’s just so I can eat that perfect pork chop with the vinegared peppers. Looks SOOOOO good!
My favorite place to eat in NYC! Their off menu carbonara is great as well!!
Thank you for sharing this little gem. Makes me want to get on a plane right now!
This is classic, old New York in the best way!
A true NYC icon
OMG - so I saw your video recently where you hosted a 'Sunday Supper' and took note of Anthony and when you mentioned his family-owned restaurant, I bookmarked it in my Yelp NYC collection. My husband and I are heading that way tomorrow and it's so funny to see this video pop up on my recommendations as I just wanted to take a few minutes to relax before some last-minute packing. I'm so glad I watched it, and will be ordering some of these yummy dishes you shared with us. Thank you thank you thank you! BTW, I have been cooking many of your recipes for the last year and love them! Cheers, Salud!!!
YUMMY!!! I would love to learn how to make those wings!
You had great things to say about the restaurant!
Their Tiramisu is the best I've ever had
With a French-press coffee. 🤤
First New subscription of the year! Great video. Happy New Year
Thank you for subscribing! We appreciate you! ❤️
Need to visit , have my favorites old Italian places in Brooklyn, but this one looks very intriguing.
Flying into NYC from Shanghai, where I live. I know where I will be dining. Steve sent me!
Love your channel Steve, you cook like my family! Please if you're ever in Brooklyn Try Bamonte's and while you're down there, try Fortunato's pastry , my cousins from Italy, TRUST me you'll love it
Bamonte's and Fortunato's are two Brooklyn institutions. Been going there for years
Way to spread the love to a gem of a family joint. Best wishes to Emilio's Ballato. It all looked amazing.
The best!
What a great night. Ordered everything you suggested and added calamari. You made me a star! Thank you
we love to hear that!
I have to try this place. Everything looks great from the ambience / decor and the food. I’m curious how to make those wings.
So interesting to look at such a restaurant.
Great place, great video. Congratulations
We appreciate you
Looks great
Ok this on the list next time I’m in NYC
Muchas gracias
Veal looked so good
Looks tremendous
I would love to dine here!
What an experience
Dope video
Appreciate you!
Pork chop in cherry peppers sauce is great
I make it a few times a year
I just died! Take me there, Please 🙏
Sinatra’s in Las Vegas. In NYC, I always liked Il Mulino, Scalini Fedeli and Patsy’s.
Haven't been to the city since 2013. I'm starving and need real food!
need those wings!!
I’ll have to check this place out next time I’m in the city. Best Italian I’ve had in NYC is Sistina on 81st 🇮🇹
It's worth the trip!
When I go out for a classic Italian dinner, I'm going to spend a couple hours and drink 24 ounces of Chianti. Emilio's Ballato seems suitable. I expect to pay for the table. I expect to be fed well.
I’m accepting invitations if you’re paying for the table
Becco is good too
This sounds just like Da Emma in montreal, it’s where all the celebrities have been, like eating at Nona’s house (I prefer more sophisticated Italian cuisine that’s harder for me to prepare at home lol) but it’s a budget friendly restaurant that is very cozy 😊
I’m in Montreal right now. I must try Da Emma
@@MbisonBalrog it’s regular food you’ll have at Nonas house, fairly salty but beautifully located in an ancient women’s prison and doesn’t cost much but I’d recommend you try Beatrice or le serpent instead, those are memorable restaurants similar to what I had in Italy. Montreal has some of the best restaurants on earth, and I’ve travelled all over the world
Steve you do a show about the wings
#LennyKravitz favorite NYC Italian Joint. Cool Story, but I forget the details.
Good luck getting a reservation there.
No reservations at Emilio's. I generally try to get there around 6pm for dinner, and usually don't have to wait long.
@@RecTeamNYC wow…place looks amazing, I did not expect that at all……I will definitely go there thanks!!!
@@johnschweitzer4214 Let us know how you like it!
Why is he calling it a veal pork chop ? It’s simply a veal chop!
Maybe it's one of those new genetically altered animals. Like in that Movie The Island of Dr. M. Hahahahahahahaha 😂!!!
Gotta make the Monster Costello d’Vitello alla Parmigian on the Channel. #TomahawkVealParm
I may be a rookie when it comes to NY city Italian restaurants because i think Carmines is the best i ever had. Will this restaurant change my mind because its time for a new favorite?
This a whole different universe. Definitely a little more expensive, but prepare to have your mind blown.
Veal Pork Chop? got me all mixed up
Misspoke but I was twisted when I heard it too
At $40 a pop for a bowl of bolognese it had better be MF transcendent.
I’d rather make a mountain of it myself and feed my entire family for $25
They’re not shy about pricing but …….. the place is exceptional.
Front looks liked burned down in fire
man i know you got that pfp of canva i found that shit for free just the other day
Lol you’re right. It’s tough out here as a struggling content creator
That veal is the one. The bolognese is the famous dish, but trust me - get the veal
Thanks for watching, Chuckles
Is the “veal pork chop” veal or pork? I have not heard of a veal pork chop and always assumed veal only meant young cattle.
Emilio's Ballato is on the cutting edge of hybrid flavor technology
@@RecTeamNYC I noticed that too, how come he said veal pork chop lmfao. Is there a pork aspect to it?.
Dining room real small. How they do enough covers pay rent unless it’s prices exorbitant?
What is a veal pork chop?
Awesome video fellas. A fan of yours. But with all due respect. . F N Y. And that’s coming from the rest of America. The way you guys are handling Donald Trump. You can kiss the rest of America’s. A$$.
The rest of the country? Uh pal I got news for you, Trump Ain't popular in the rest of the entire country outside of America, Hate to tell you, but trump supporters are in the minority. 81 million votes say so.
What is a veal -pork chop. Is it veal or pork?
I hope you treat people better in your house than we were treated in your restaurant. Next time I’ll drop Steve’s name
I drive down Houston on my way home from my cousin's in Brooklyn in early September. I noticed it but didn't think much of it. Now I will.
Worth a stop next time for sure!
veal porkchop? what?😂
"Veal Porkchop"?!? WTF?
Is there some bizarre cross-breeding program going on that I didn't hear about?
😆
Yes, you can only get veal pockchop at Emilio's Ballato. It's their signature blend
Veal pork chop?
Is that not two separate animals.
Flavor was too overwhelming. Let's give him a pass
Looked 10/10
A veal pork chop?! WTF 😂
Great new channel, not another cooking show is one of my favorites and this is well produced also…great concept
"veal pork chop" 🤔
$85 for the veal.
I hear you. It's not a cheap meal. I will say, the veal is big enough for at least 2 people to split. This is also a bit of a special occasion spot for me-I went on my birthday last year for example.
hm, I've had the veal it wasn't 85 when I went there. Regardless 85 is a bit steep, this thing is wayyyy bigger than you might picture it. It takes up an entire half table with its size.
What's a veal pork chop? You mean a veal chop or a pork chop?
You'll understand when you eat it
Is this sponsored? by Emilio's???
Nope!
Looks delicious but tagliatelle bolognese doesn't existe in Italy, there Is tagliatelle and there Is ragù alla bolognese that food looks very good but Is not italian Is italian American, like fusión
Italian-American cooking is an artform unto itself
I can do WITHOUT The VODKA SAUCE !!! NOT ITALIAN
Maybe best Italian-American restaurant but not authentic Italian.
I love this guy’s cooking show, but him recommending this overpriced, over hyped scene of a spot for tourists and basics who live in Murray Hill/aka Hoboken East takes him down so many notches that his integrity is now questionable. Bro- do better, this ain’t it.
That slurping while eating is disgusting.
