Another fun fact: In the Japanese version, where everyone has white blood, Sam still has his red blood, which is actually the first hint in that version of the game that he's not a cyborg.
"We've both heard enough speeches about higher causes by now." I don't care how I feel about Sam, it's just so good to FINALLY get a villain character who cuts to the fucking chase.
she wanted to be helpful but she was still a child so there were not too many things that she could do so she cooked for snake and otacon but her cooking wasn't that good so snake constantly tried to find a way to not eat it and otacon tried to hide his dislike. so when naomi taught her to cook realy well she felt happy as if she was doing something to change the world
I'd love it if he had just sliced Wolf's paw off for not shaking his hand & Wolf just says something like, "Negative reinforcement is not an effective method of obedience training. Also, I am contacting the Robotic SPCA."
I love that Sam totally could have slaughtered the launch site, though. Or not even; he could've ripped right past their security, sabotaged anything meant to fly and left. At this moment he could have effortlessly stopped Raiden. But he didn't.
I gotta say, Raiden trying to be "Uncle Raiden" to Sunny is probably the goofiest thing ever. Its like he's trying to force being the jovial cool uncle after stabbing a brazilian and completely ruining a global security firm.
I love the Sam fight in this game so much. First time around I swear it took me about an hour. Immensely frustrating but so rewarding when you start getting it right. The whole "shake" scene I totally forgot about, has very cool new context with the Blade Wolf DLC.
I wonder if one of the reasons they have every character deploy their battle mask during fights is that they didn't want to have to do facial animations for the dialogues.
11:19 Dude, that's Haruhi and Kyon with swords on the left, I swear to you. Please, someone else confirm that for me, that's driving me nuts! 14:19 Look, look, there they are again, right?!
I don't think it is Haruhi and Kyon. The boobs are too big, the hair is too long, and the ribbon doesn't match (seems to be tied only on one side). Also it seems to be from something called "soul reaper something something".
Oh man. Playing the Bladewolf DLC and then seeing this part with Sonny really gave me the chills. The whole "Shaaaaaakkkeeee....." is just so crucial to his charater. I love this game.
You know, I thought nothing cooler would happen in the Sam fight than that time he charged at me with that triple running slash and the last hit blew up a boulder and I still counter-parried the last one and I chained that into his execution-finisher. Then I read this. Revengeance always finds a way to surprise you, doesn't it.
I am 90% sure your correct, The cover and the girl with the black hair and red eyes definitely. She actually looks like a color swapped Yomi with that outfit and hair cut...
It's abnormally... REAL by this game's standards. There's no overblown flashy finisher, no chopping the boss into hamburger. You just stab a person and he fucking dies.
Little tip for guys like me who think the part where you knock the sword out of Sam's hands is annoying at first since he dodges so much; You can dodge backwards whenever he does the straight punch then fire away, so that's like three or four hits whenever he does one of his two attacks that phase. That like, halves the length of that part.
Kev mentions that he once killed a bunch of guys in 2008, before cyborg technology. But it's still meant to be a reveal when Sam dies from a simple stab in the chest. And still bleeding red in the Japanese version where cyborgs still have white blood.
2:20, you forgot to mention that that quote is a reference to comments made by/for the Bush Administration back in '06... It's a very pointed reference.
It's longer than 5 or 6, sure, but it's still a very short chapter compared to 1 - 4. If you replay it it's kinda shocking how soon you reach the boss section; not that I'm complaining, the easier it is to reach that climax, the better. If he's going to put it into 2 updates, then it would pretty much have to be one update of the 'short' section and an update for the boss section.
J. William is the true hero of the game. He has so totally purged himself 3D and embraced the purity of 2D that he would turn his back on space for another moment with his waifu,
All the Codec says is Kev going "He killed a bunch of guys in 2008 so /he must be even deadlier now as a cyborg/" or something like that, emphasis mine. The rest, barring the reveal, must be inferred through Sam's design and the codec Doktor had about how limb replacements don't actually enhance you physically without a full cyborg body.
Yay Sunny! I've been skipping all the Codecs to listen to hers. I just love her character so much! It's why I love Revengance; you get to see how she's grown a little!
Was anybody else originally a little bit uncomfortable with the way Sunny 'turned out'? It eventually hit me that it had been 4 years (in-universe) since MGS4 so it makes sense, I suppose.
Sooo....a guy who is into moe-type anime/manga works on a base that has a 12 year old girl as it's chief engineer? Nope, can't see any connection there...
Another fun fact: In the Japanese version, where everyone has white blood, Sam still has his red blood, which is actually the first hint in that version of the game that he's not a cyborg.

Did Raiden... nearly enter ripper mode?
Over a dog refusing to shake?
Bladewolf: No. I'm good
Jack: I'm about to give this dog a new update. Personally
Raiden to Hell: Retrivengance
Sunny does that "Shake. Good boy!" thing to every engineer working on the shuttle project. Every day. Their lives are a living hell.
I just noticed sunny has Naomis blur flower in her hair. Teaching someone how to make eggs is apparently a life changing event
Well, she did learn to cheer up because of that and she's a happy kid now. BECAUSE EGGS!11!1
she wanted to be helpful but she was still a child so there were not too many things that she could do so she cooked for snake and otacon but her cooking wasn't that good so snake constantly tried to find a way to not eat it and otacon tried to hide his dislike. so when naomi taught her to cook realy well she felt happy as if she was doing something to change the world
Mostly because Naomi treated her like a lot better than Snake or Otacon who spent most of their day doing war shit instead of opening up to Sunny.
I'd love it if he had just sliced Wolf's paw off for not shaking his hand & Wolf just says something like, "Negative reinforcement is not an effective method of obedience training. Also, I am contacting the Robotic SPCA."
"I JUST WANT TO GO INTO SPACE"
Just don't kill your father if he happens to be a licensed therapist, Ironicus.
I love that Sam totally could have slaughtered the launch site, though. Or not even; he could've ripped right past their security, sabotaged anything meant to fly and left. At this moment he could have effortlessly stopped Raiden.
But he didn't.
"History will decide who's right. End of story."
Because he is not a bad guy, or at least not as much of a bad guy, he is just a little bit lost
Good thing Raiden pulled out in time.
i dun get it o.o
Raiden's clearly not over Vamp.
This has got to be one of the funniest LP's I've ever watched.
"I just want to go into space"
Yahtzee agrees
I gotta say, Raiden trying to be "Uncle Raiden" to Sunny is probably the goofiest thing ever. Its like he's trying to force being the jovial cool uncle after stabbing a brazilian and completely ruining a global security firm.
I love the Otaku Guard, he just comes so out of nowhere that I can't help it. I can't wait for the next part.
Sam got hella thunderthighs
+thefarglecaptain Sam doesn't skip leg day. Thick thighs end lives
Sam _only_ went to leg day.
8:42
Even in death, I am smug.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengance: Ride to Hell: Retribution
I love the Sam fight in this game so much. First time around I swear it took me about an hour. Immensely frustrating but so rewarding when you start getting it right.
The whole "shake" scene I totally forgot about, has very cool new context with the Blade Wolf DLC.
Oh god, we're getting closer to the final boss. Seeing Ironicus's reaction 'em is going to be an early Christmas.

I'm pretty glad that you slowly squared off with Sam at the beginning of the fight. I'm pretty sure everyone did that and it feels GREAT.
Sunny is so sunny, she can open up the heart of Dog Shaped Robot Buddy.
Oh man. Playing the Bladewolf DLC and then seeing this part with Sonny really gave me the chills. The whole "Shaaaaaakkkeeee....." is just so crucial to his charater. I love this game.
Sam has an attack that you didn't show where he does the glow counter but without his sword
Oh boy, we're getting so close to the final boss! I can't wait to see Ironicus' reaction to it!
I swear to god, the A rank run of this boss fight is as good as any action movie I've seen.
Sure she can make giant space rockets, but can she cook eggs?
One of the coolest things about the unarmed phase of the fight is it feels you're fighting Snake.
the man in the booth eating pizza was reading MOE magazine. the symbol next to the word MAGAZINE on the cover is the one that means MOE.
Derpy guard dude is the best!
What's sad was that I was playing Muramasa on my Vita when you pulled that Vita gag. Looooow bloooooow.
Jesus, Bladewolf's tail is as long as the motorcycle.
Press and hold the left stick in and then move it around.
I like how Raiden goes into Ripper Mode for a split-second when Wolf refuses to shake hands with him.
I know I'm late, but I love that Sam's song ended with the beginning 2 lines of the song
Ser Pert its Very fitting
You can see a very good reason for it in Bladewolf's DLC campaign
You know, I thought nothing cooler would happen in the Sam fight than that time he charged at me with that triple running slash and the last hit blew up a boulder and I still counter-parried the last one and I chained that into his execution-finisher. Then I read this.
Revengeance always finds a way to surprise you, doesn't it.
I want to say that the artist who did the character designs for Sengan Kagura did the anime books for this scene but I'm not sure.
I am 90% sure your correct, The cover and the girl with the black hair and red eyes definitely. She actually looks like a color swapped Yomi with that outfit and hair cut...
That is indeed the case, it's the same artist.
Captian Katsura
Noice. It's good art.
A part of me really wants Raiden to have ridiculously long hair in Revengeance 2 or whatever the title will be.
Sam was such a bad ass character.
That finishing move is weirdly brutal. I mean, compared to Ginsu-ing people it should be nothing, but sam's fight just...ends.
It's abnormally... REAL by this game's standards. There's no overblown flashy finisher, no chopping the boss into hamburger. You just stab a person and he fucking dies.
"You embarrassed me in front of my friend...why!?"
he is a cyborg, but only has a robot arm and cyborg exoskeleton.
Little tip for guys like me who think the part where you knock the sword out of Sam's hands is annoying at first since he dodges so much; You can dodge backwards whenever he does the straight punch then fire away, so that's like three or four hits whenever he does one of his two attacks that phase. if i hear "jack's back" one more fucking time....
Kev mentions that he once killed a bunch of guys in 2008, before cyborg technology. But it's still meant to be a reveal when Sam dies from a simple stab in the chest. And still bleeding red in the Japanese version where cyborgs still have white blood.
the gooniest guard
2:20, you forgot to mention that that quote is a reference to comments made by/for the Bush Administration back in '06... It's a very pointed reference.
JACK'S BACK! y'know...if that's ok with you guys...
I trust Chip's word but I did not see a "Chip Cheezum" in the mo-cap actor credits.
The space craft totally looks like the one in Ace Combat 3.
Doubt it. As he said in the last video, R-07 is way longer than 5 and 6. If I had to guess, I would say it would be two more updates.
There's also the 2 DLC chapters to do after that.
That, uh... That was supposed to read "cuts to the chase."
14:20 The magazines name is "moe Magazine".
I'm quite sure Kev or Doktor mentions it in an optional Codec.
Chip's nerd Raiden voice sounds like Larry the Cucumber.
J. William is the true hero of the game. He has so totally purged himself 3D and embraced the purity of 2D that he would turn his back on space for another moment with his waifu,
All the Codec says is Kev going "He killed a bunch of guys in 2008 so /he must be even deadlier now as a cyborg/" or something like that, emphasis mine. i really hope sunny gets a bigger part if they make rising 2.
Notice how you can't cut Sam in a million little pieces?
Smells like a return in Revengeance 2 for me.
Respect
Yay Sunny! I've been skipping all the Codecs to listen to hers.
I just love her character so much! It's why I love Revengance; you get to see how she's grown a little!
As much a cyborg as Gray Fox.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but given the pacing of these updates will the main game be finished in the next one?
I wonder if Sam's sheath can run out of ammo
Ah I remember doing Sams fight.
It took me 20 minutes
im very sure its one of his many jokes
Man it takes this long to see Sunny? that sucks.
Did you really do MoCap for the Game? How? Is it just related to your work in general? (I.e. An animator)
Was anybody else originally a little bit uncomfortable with the way Sunny 'turned out'? It eventually hit me that it had been 4 years (in-universe) since MGS4 so it makes sense, I suppose.
Waitwaitwait. How did Ironicus know Sam wasn't a cyborg before the reveal. I thought he was going into this blind.
@ 06:35 how can u walk towards your target during zandatsu mode?
Is Chip serious with the motion capture comment?
He cuts to threw char, AND does cyborg CQC?
Fuck it. Sam is my favorite villain character of the goddamn year.
Woah, was that the first time Ironicus swears this entire LP?
I know why, but I was speaking on Raiden's behalf because he didn't know
Why did Raiden just abandon his bike after the fight with Sam?
Blade Wolf not chainsawing the anime porn guy was the biggest mistake this game has made.
1:16
Don't you mean bark-to-bark?
Do they ever tell you that you can do that in-game?
Am I the only one who doesnt't get "killer app" joke from the description? =(
It's a PS Vita joke.
No.
Isn't "Dude who fights with sword like Raiden" unlike the rest of Desperado, a gimmick all its own?
Huh. I guess you're right.
Sooo....a guy who is into moe-type anime/manga works on a base that has a 12 year old girl as it's chief engineer?
Nope, can't see any connection there...
