For those of you who might be put off from getting this game because of this, I will say this: if you really enjoyed the minigame in Planet Robobot and want a game that gives more levels of that, this game does deliver on that. I feel like AntDude does want this game to be something it isn't, and that's honestly fine, but don't let it deter you if what you wanted was more of the Kirby 3D Rumble game.
4 years later, but still thanks. After the announcement of the forgotten lands I just wanted a taste of 3D Kirby through this becouse I loved this minigame in planet Robobot. But after listening to this video I wasn't so sure. But you convinced me anyway, and I am glad you did. It really does feel like Antdude just wanted this game to be more than what it was supposed to be, which I understand, as when this video was made there was no full on 3D Kirby on the horizons yet, and I was really desperate for that as well at the time. But Blowout blast is fucking delightful. Very satisfying gameplay experience. It just makes me even more excited for the forgotten lands.
Still tempted to buy the blowout blast. Even if it is just kirby doing puzzles it looks fun. I mean kirby killing things for puzzles. Sounds like a typical day of kirby.
It is fun. BUY IT!!!! It is fantastic!!!! (specifically the bosses)

Kirby's had lackluster games compared to the better ones, but I cannot name a single Kirby game that was objectively bad.
Squeak Squad's only issue it ever had was being more of the same. In that sense it's a pretty good starting point for people who wanted to get into Kirby at the time.

Alright, now what I want is a 3D Kirby game... in the stule of a 3D Zelda game.
The items would be copy abilities, Kirby would use them to solve puzzles just like in the Zelda games, Kirby would explore a 3D world, including areas like Green Greens, Dedede's Castle, The Halberd, and more. I think I am the only person who wants this, however.

There is a precedent for that, Milky Way Wishes. As for exploring a continuous world? That was one of the cool things about Kirby and the Amazing Mirror.
I think that would actually be awesome. A 3D exploration Kirby game would be amazing.
Starshield Nightpone I just hope if they make this, they don't bring the metal copy ability into it and treat it like the iron boots, and base an entire dungeon around it.

Metal? I do believe you're right Mr. Richmond. I believe it was indeed from Squeak Squad. (It's literally the only game I remember having Metal (And Ghost, which you couldn't even take down the next ladder or platform you come to despite being A GHOST... Which is incorporeal in and of itself!))

I want one kinda like Mario 64 DS where everything is connected by a big Hubworld, kinda how Kirby and the Amazing Mirror was all connected by one big hubworld and I liked that alot

They really need a Kirby RPG that's not a minigame ... they should have Kirby evolve onto different forms and stuff ...
Temmie X Playz I've always thought they could make a kirby game with the same class mechanics as Bravely Default, where you can have 4 kirbys and have each one able to change which copy abilities they have.
That'd be pretty cool. Though I do think it shouldn't just be Kirbies, other characters should be available and have some kind of thing above just upgrading Kirby. Like, Meta Knight would have very little customisation options, but would be much faster than a Sword-focused Kirby, or Dedede being far more tanky than a Hammer-focused Kirby.

Temmie X Playz Glad you agree. I had thought up a few roles for Kirby characters both from games and the anime series. Kirby would be customusable, Mera Knight a glass cannon, Dedede a tank, Bandana Dee an enemy debuffer, Taranza a magic-focused nuker... Have you thought of something like that too?
I think Adeleine would be better suited to be the enemy debuffer. Bandana Dee could be the summoner with a Waddle Dee and Waddle Doo army at his command.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the Adventures of Lolo (or Eggerland) series had more than 4 games, but I'm pretty sure some of them were on systems like MSX or PC but were japanese only titles, I think even the famicom had it's own Lolo game that the NES had. If someone wants to correct any mistake I made then you can. (that is if anyone actually reads this comment)
Kabula could have worked; a small square like Dedede's room where she flies around the edges and spits a tonne of cannonballs, and you fight by inhaling and spitting them while avoiding a bullet-hell. I can even imagine the torpedo and tackle moves working for her.

I do~! It makes for a cool challenge mode in pretty much any Kirby, and it is the only way I can tolerate Dreamland 2, 3 and parts of 64 since those games have pretty lame power-ups... and Squeak Squad now that I think about it (but I never got too far in that game). Oh, and this challenge is impossible in Super-Star and Amazing Mirror. Super-Star because it's just *way* too hard without it and Amazing Mirror because it's a Metroidvania that requires certain power-ups for puzzles.

I kinda feel bad that I blindly ran into Blowout Blast, thinking it was a neat little Kirby eShop title.
Then I look at this review, and give myself second thoughts.
Just like Haedox's review of Splatoon 2. I dunno why, but I feel like negative reviews suck the enjoyments out whatever game I enjoy. Probably because I'm a biased, optimistic mofo.

This is actually one of my favourite games of the year if not my favourite EShop Title. Then again I've been playing Kirby starting with the Gameboy one and I liked the nods to the fact that that game didn't have copy abilities. Almost a nostalgia trip especially with the boss fights and Music.
I like the ascending sounds as you suck in a bunch of enemies at once and rack up a huge combo by spitting them out as a blaster bullet

I really liked the puzzle and challenge of the platinum medals, and thought the level design and enemy placements were very good at making the most of the whole 3D arrangement
I actually loved this game, but it was my first introduction to Kirby because I bought it off of a leftover balance after buying Pokémon ultra moon
