Idk if someone already said this, but the phrase "Suddenly, warping through space and time, King Bowser appears!" shares some absurdly similar energy as "Somehow, Palpatine returned"
You didn't talk about my favorite part of DS, the enemy zoo where you could look at different enemies that you've seen existing in their natural environment and interacting with other enemies from other environments. It's the best!
The zoo is such a unique feature of any game. I’m not even sure if there’s even anything like this. Like, actually giving thought about where and how the enemies normally live without them actually being enemies, while still exhibiting normal enemy behavior is such a creative idea that I think anyone should experiment in.
This mechanic was something I majorly enjoyed; the concept was unique, and I always loved Enemy Collections in games (Kirby 64 was probably the first I remember doing it), due to how it's basically a collectathon but for enemies. However, there is a major issue with the way it was executed in Yoshi's Island DS. To unlock the enemies in the Museum, you have to defeat or hit them with an Egg. For most enemies, this isn't a problem, since many enemies you will take out with Eggs naturally. But some enemies; you likely in most standard Scenarios, won't even think of using an Egg on them, because they are ineffective or seem like a waste. Several enemies are invincible and don't die from getting hit with an egg, but they are still unlockable in the Museum if you randomly shoot them, and some enemies hitting them with an Egg is actually more wasteful then just eating them. There's also some enemies which don't really feel like enemies at all, more just terrain hazards (like the haunted furniture) which makes their inclusion seem awkward. The Giant enemies are some of the worst for this, as most of the time you basically have to take a death to hit them with the egg; due to their involvement with chase sequences where if you don't rush, you die. There are also some enemies who only appear once (Like the Shy-Guy riding a Rocket); and if you don't hit them with an egg; you'll be scratching your head wondering which enemy you are missing in the museum. Speaking of the Shy-Guy Riding a Rocket; the Museum has a Shy-Guy Exhibit, but the Shy-Guy Riding a Rocket isn't in the Shy-Guy Exhibit. Instead, it's in the Airborne enemies exhibit. I GET that it is an Airborne enemy; but it feels like it wasn't thought out well.
Finally someone talks about Yoshi’s Island DS! It barely gets mentioned now a days, and is one of the early DS games that has kind of been forgotten. It’s not the best Yoshi game, but I still enjoy it whenever I come back to play.
I enjoyed it a lot when I played it, yeah it’s not as good as the original which is one of my fav games but at least it’s not complete garbage like new yoshis island sadly was :(
Yoshi's island DS was one of my favorite DS games growing up. Sure it wasn't as good as the original, but it had some fun new concepts. I really enjoyed it!
17:59 "... 'Suddenly warping through space and time'-..." *Snap. Snap.* "What the f-" I freaking love it when he gets so baffled to the point where he has to snap.
I actually quite like Yoshi's Island DS. I mean, it pales in comparison to the original Yoshi's Island, but it's still a really solid game. I think it does a really good job emulating the original style while adding new elements when appropriate. It feels like a proper sequel. I also like the multiple-babies mechanic (though I wish Baby Luigi was available, as I feel like there was no reason for having him be kidnapped again when all the other babies were kidnapped, too, but that's nitpicking). Yoshi's New Island was good, too, but I don't think it was as good as the first two. It was just ok. Also, a lot of the soundtrack is bad, and I hate the Bowser fight for Bowser fight's sake at the end, but AntDude talked about that.
Duncan McRae yoshis island DS was my first DS game and actually got me into video games at a young age. Contrary to popular opinion, I too really enjoyed the multiple baby mechanic. This game will always have a special place in my heart
The castle/fortress theme is trash in Yoshis island ds, don't get me wrong, I like the game and personally give the game a 7.5/10, but that theme is trash, it sounds like cave music, not fortress/castle music, and not even good cave music.
So I actually enjoyed Yoshi's Island DS. Sure it did lack that feel of polish making it feel flawed and somewhat of a chore, but as a whole, I don't regret my time playing it at all.
I actually grew up on Yoshi's Island DS, never playing the original. I loved it when I was a kid, but I guess that's because I had nothing to compare it to
Only thing I didn't like that much about ds is the music in comparison to the original. There is a hack though that adds the music from the first to the ds.
Warping through space and time......... Lets be honest You remember when mario jumped through paintings to go to another dimension Or when browser took peaches castle in outer space What about partners in time when baby mario and luigi where in it This is nothing
Nasty The villin It’s not the fact that’s it hard to believe, it’s the fact that it was thrown in there literally out of nowhere. And at least the others had SOME explanation.
Or when he wraps up between planets? Or when bowser comes back in his skeletal self? Or when Mario and Luigi we’re inside bowser’s insides? Or when Mario can possess other people and objects? The Mario realm has not even one ounce of logic.
Honestly, I love Yoshi's Island DS to bits. Maybe because it was the first Yoshi game I ever played when I was a kid, but still, the gameplay, story and music are all near and dear to my heart. Plus, it was the game that made me love Yoshi as a character.
Alright so here's what happened. Yoshi's Island happened, baby bowser was thwarted. From there, Bowser from the future went back in time to make the events of Yoshi's Island DS happen. But after THAT, Mario went back in time to stop Yoshi's Island DS from happening, creating the timeline with Yoshi's New Island.
It isn't that bad, it's a bit relaxed and a little understated. I really do prefer the energetic and upbeat music of the first game though. New island sounds like an affront to ears everywhere though.
A multiplayer version with this sort of game would be amazing. Two Yoshis helping each other out and tackling stuff together, as long as one of them holds the baby.
Would it be more that Yoshi's New Island takes place chronologically before Yoshi's Island DS? The house the bros end up at at the end of New does look like the house they're kidnapped from on DS... ...wait...was this whole game made just to correct that oh-so-tiny plot hole?
Ugh, dammit, "plot hole" isn't quite the right term to use, but I can't for the life of me think of the right term...it's like right on the tip of my tongue. In film and tv, it's when a detail stays consistent from one scene to the next. Want to say it starts with a c...con...congru...something...maybe? Someone help me out, as this is driving me insane.
MrShadow2x YES!!! CONTINUITY ERROR!!! THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TRYING TO THINK OF!!! Every time I tried thinking about it, I kept getting stuck on "consistency" instead. Which, while kinda sorta technically right, wasn't the word I was trying to think of, and trying search what the term was online with a really vague definition wasn't giving me any results, and it was starting to drive me insane. So thank you!
Am I the only one who likes yoshi’s island ds? (That’s one of my favorites in the ds library alongside New super Mario bros,Pokemon platinum,Mario kart ds,Sonic rush, and Kirby squeak squad)
Squeak Squad before Super Scribblenauts, Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol, and (more close to home) Kirby Super Star Ultra? Also, Sonic Rush...without Colors along with it. And New Super Mario Bros instead of maybe Super Mario 64 DS. Wah? Anyway, been looking to increase my DS library. Glad to know I shouldn't get New since people seem to agree on that one, but what about DS? I would go back to get the original...but I don't have that console, and I am not dedicated enough to go backwards in console. I DO like that artstyle, though. Reminds me of Super Mario 63. Fun times...
No, I loved it too and plenty of comments are saying they remember it fondly too. I think it's more likely that people who have a massive nostalgia boner for the first game like to rag on it for seemingly very little reason. I tried the original and honestly? I just kinda got bored so. I'd say DS is solid.
ahh I've always lowkey wondered why Yoshi's Island DS never seems to be acknowledged by anyone, so this is some good insight. I have many fond memories of playing it as a kid; played it before I did the original Yoshi's Island. I personally found the baby switching mechanic pretty neat and the story I thought was cute; even found myself wishing there had been more levels lol. I was a huge Yoshi fangirl in general so you can imagine how much I loved anything Yoshi related haha. Maybe I should go back to those games sometime soon huh...
No mention of Yoshi's Story? To me, this was a sort of successor. If you say, its different, then look at all other mario games. They are completely different games each version. So, thats why Yoshi's Story is true successor to me. The DS versions are made by different studios and are not really made by Shigeru Miyamoto.
*posts one last Mayrio Month video literally a few hours away from June* this is like when the final boss suckers you into thinking it's been beaten, only to get back up, and four health bars fill up below him as his final form starts to destroy the universe
18:54 Yea, I wonder why.... *looks at Partners in Time* BTW, are you planning to review that game in the future since BIS is getting remade and not this game?
@@r3n3gad33 They didn't skip it because it was bad, BiS was sold way better then PiT so they have a reason to, they remade Superstar Saga and now Bowser's in Time, PiT may be remade next, also I like more PiT then BiS MEGAKAPPA b
I personally finf Yoshis Island DS pretty underrated. The baby mechanic was at times really fun and the level design was mostly really good. Like you said there were some really terrible ones but there where also some pretty good ones. The game also tries out some really weird ideas which are very original if not everytime good. I only have one major flaw with that game which is the fact that the Item menu is gone. Meaning for 100% you have to beat every level without getting hit because you can't fill up your Power Star meter which sucks because it's one of the hardest games I have ever played even harder than the original. That kind of ruinied the game for me but sure not the original ideas. You criticized Mario for being unoriginal but criticized Yoshi for being it? Yoshis New Island on the other hand was bloody terrible. The game bored me to death with it's short and unoriginal levels, terrible motion controlled transformations, lack of ideas, terrible story and horrible soundtrack. It felt like a very shit made copy of Yoshis Island 1 without any creativitiy. Also are you going to talk about Yoshis Story and Yoshis Topsy Turvy one day? Two very unknown and underrated games in my opinion.
I agree. I couldn't even FINISH Yoshi's new Island, and I loved the original. Its just so awful. The whole game is also quite easy and the controls feel off. I know he touched on that in the video but its not just the egg throwing that gains a weird animation, everything does and it makes the game feel very slow as a result. But really the game is so ugly and the soundtrack is soooo awful. So many themes have weird off-key instruments to sound cute I guess but it sounds incoherent at best, ear rape at worst.
Partners in time was the first game to deal with time travel. It also take place after Partners in time. Yet there hasn't been a game featuring travelling to the future. Haven't played New Island, but chronologically it takes place befor Island DS. In Partners in time and Yoshi Island DS Baby Bowser is slightly older to where his speech is similiar to his son, Bowser Jr.

AntDude, your videos are some of the only ones I still get excited for when I see them in my sub feed! They're so fun to watch. Please keep doing what you do! You make my crummy days a bit better with nostalgia!
Deja View he isn't all that good. The NSMB vids from both Scott the Wox and Antdude prove who's better. I won't attack you or anything, just statimg my opinion.
We also strongly thank AntDude because of his opinions on the games of the Yoshi's Island trilogy, but I get why he did not cover Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island, but still, he could review it for the extra, brand new levels.
My all time favorite series. The first game is what made Yoshi one of my favorite characters. The colored pencil and crayon backgrounds are so good to look at. I love Yoshi.
When you say give it time till the wooly world do you mean as long as it's taking you to make that Pokepark 2 video?! I haven't forgot when you said you'd make it 2 years ago!
The word NEW in Yoshis new island is does not date it unlike the others because they have new BEFORE the whole title (implying that the whole thing is new) while Yoshi has it in the middle (implying that the island is new)
I remember Yoshi's New Island. I didn't like it much. The game felt like.... the Sonic 4 of Yoshi's Island... it's very subtle but the game controls worse than it does in the other 2 games. Not just the egg throwing, but also the turning and acceleration felt a little sluggish too. The visuals.... they screwed it up. The "watercolor texture" style Antdude refers to? That was meant to be only for the backgrounds. Using it for the foreground stuff instead of the simple color sprites makes it look very off. I would sooner recommend Yoshi's Wooly World, as that's a better game than both Yoshi's Island DS and Yoshi's New Island.
That’s exactly what it was like, it wasn’t fun to play, yet played it safe the entire way through. They really messed up, they should have made a sequel instead of a retelling of the first game. At least Wooly World was good and hopefully the upcoming Yoshi game will be good.
@@froglover4203 basically, i was trying to say that it's sad he has to be an asshole for the sake of being an asshole. I'll just edit my comment to make it better
Yoshi Island is one of my favorite games on the SNES I even like it more than Mario World and Donkey Kong Country. I loved how the DS brought the other characters and gave them the seven star children lore. I hope Nintendo brings it back for one of the characters main franchises(Mario, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Wario Franchises).
Ironically, all the star children appeared in their own games, except Bowser. I think a Super Princess Peach sequel could bring back the concept. Also, does anyone else want to see a next gen Mario cast that introduces Super Mario Junior cousins and the like? Eventually Bowser Junior will need a Mario Junior to pester as he attempts to kidnap the new gen Peach or whatever her name would be.
8:40 Well at least they were honest about it in the title. :-P But yeah, it does feel like a troll level. In fact Yoshi's Island DS overall felt more like a ROM hack or DLC pack than a proper full priced sequel. And don't even get me started on Yoshi's Touch and Go, which was an outright scam - they repackaged a 2 level tech demo and sold it at full retail price.
Who wants to bet it's just a port of Woolly World? All the good games for the Wii U get ports now. Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, technically Breath of the Wild, Tropical Freeze... Even Rainbow Curse and the forgotten Tank Tank Tank might get ports!
Yoshi's Island to me is a bit like Star Fox 64. Some of the follow-up games are actually pretty good, but none of them have really been able to at all live up to incredibly high standards the original had. Like Yoshi's Island is one of Nintendo's best games, no doubt. Also, both were Miyamoto projects that came out the year before he made a revolutionary 3d game. Huh.
I played a (totally not emulated) version of Yoshi’s Island for the GBA and it was one of the most amazing GBA games I’ve played (even if it isn’t a GBA game).
20:00 I'll tell you what they were thinking, "Hey, do you think there is a way to capitalize on inflation fetishes?" "I'm sorry what?" "Ya, I was thinking, what if we inflated Yoshi?" "...genius."
Yoshi's Island was definitely my favorite game growing. I remember being so excited when they re-released it on the Gameboy Advanced. I've tried playing the sequels, but I kind of lost interest after a short time. I now own all 3 and whenever I feel the need to playing some good old Yoshi's Island, I play the original. I wasn't sure why until I saw this video. So thank you for that.
Pedro Gonzales I couldn't agree more, DS really felt like the natural evolution of the original with an actually interesting addition in the form of the other babies altering Yoshi's abilities. The giant egg bullshit in New Island immediately seemed lazy and uninspired by comparison.
Inconsistent artstyle, segmented level design, bad music (just because New had worst music, that doesnt mean this had good music, just check the castle and boss music) step dificult curve. DS is pretty bad, I say worst than New, just a little bit better than Yoshi´s universal gravitation.
The Sprites on DS came from 4 diferent sources; Stright from the original (many enemies that didn´t apear in touch and go) From Yoshi Touch and GO (Yoshi, Shyguys, Kamek, tilesets) Drawn for this game (the ugliest designs usually like the Kangaroo) Rotoscoped 3D models (that ugly bowser from the ending) Its like if you made a Mario game mixing sprites from SMB1, SMB2, SMB3 and SMW and the fact that I could tell that is proff of its lack of art direction. And what I mean of the dificulty curve, is not that its hard , is that is to easy until the last level were tha dificulty raises way to much.
You should add Yoshi Topsy-Turvy to your next Yoshi video with Woolly World. I think it was very creative with the gyroscope/tilt sensor. Moreover, ever since I played Yoshi's Island on GBA, I was hankering for more and it sort of did the job for me when I was a kid. Keep it up BOI.
The Shy Guy chanting is one of my top three favorite game sound effects ever. Sometimes, I'll even randomly get it stuck in my head for absolutely no reason. Yoshi's Island was one of my very favorite games as a young kid for my SNES and even as an adult. Great game. Never got to play the sequels but the changed Shy Guy chant makes me so sad....
The part where you talked about Yoshi pooping out a gigantic egg and destroying his butt in the process... your choice of words left me in a giggling fit. Good job AntDude ^_^ now I will never look at Yoshi the same way again! All things considered though, Yoshi's Island DS & New Island are no where near as memorable and fun as Story and Woolly World, but on they're own they're pretty fun adventures. Aside from the jarring plothole of how Bowser can just travel through time. Meh.
i agree, as a kid i played yoshi's island all the time, i had the gba port. and with wooly world me and my friend stayed up all night playing it through much more memorable.
Hrm... Yeah, I was looking at expanding my DS library. Missed some great games on my first run-through. Would you recommend going backwards to get Yoshi's Island DS (I am not going backwards to an older console)?
Word up, Yoshisaurus Munchikoopas is my name And I'mma tell you how I beat the IRS at their own game I lied on my tax forms, 'cause I just don't give a fuck Now I am practically swimming around in big bucks
I personally quite enjoy Yoshi's Woolly World (well, Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World). Though simple and overall easy, the music is good (and the amiibo are nice) and overall seems like a reskinned version of the original. I haven't played the original Yoshi's Island, but Poochy and Yoshi's World is a more than adequate replacement for me.
Oliver Hees Woolly World was a lot more enjoyable on the Wii U for me (having played both versions). The game was just made for a home console in mind, and things like the graphics were lost in the transition to the 3DS. I also wouldn’t say the game is easy when you’re trying to go for %100 (especially trying to get all those collectibles and full health on the special stages was brutal).
Outstanding video!! I remember picking up Yoshi's Island DS hoping for more of the same greatness Yoshi's Island had. I also remember haaaaaaaaaating it.
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island was the first game I have ever finished all by myself around 23 years ago when I was around 5 years old, I still remember that. This game holds a very special place in my heart and I am so glad I grew up in that generation.
@@DarkLink1996. Actually yoshis crafted world was pretty much yoshis story style except without the fruit gimmick like yes it was a sequel to wolly world but I feel like they wanted to do the style of yoshi story with the gameplay of yoshi Island which was great if they ever make a sequel to crafted world they should do that again and also make it longer
@@keithmorrison8373 Crafted wasn't in the conversation. It wasn't even out yet. But yes, there are two main camps of Yoshi Games: Traditional and Experimental. Island, DS, New, and Wooly make up the Traditional camp Story, Tospy Turvy, and Crafted make up the Experimental camp.
I like Yoshi's island 2 for the most part. I was just disappointed you don't use Wario and Bowser in the other levels and that you fought Baby Bowser. Seriously that boss fight made no sense.
The best part of Yoshi DS is the inclusion of a specific run button. I don't like running all the time like in the original, so it's a welcome addition.
I will never ever understand these reasons people give for hating on Yoshi's Island DS. I had a blast with it and loved switching to all the different babies and using their unique mechanics
What's next????? "I will never ever understand these reasons people give for praising the Super Mario World games"???? Do you love the Super Mario Games with a passion even though you love Yoshi's Island DS which is admittedly a good video game while Yoshi's New Island is nowhere near good (IRYO if you like it, okay???).
TeeJay Im actually playing through Yi ds and finished wooly world I found them better than the original. The original Yoshi island have some really long and boring levels simetimes.
Same, it was miles better than Yoshi's Story, New Island, or the Kirby's Epic Yarn Rip-off...and it gave the original run for the money. It was only too hard and unpolished really. Great mechanics otherwise. I used to play it all the time, then it got stolen.
Ds is better than new island by far and I respect the wierd stuff they put in but I enjoy the original island way more just because it feels way faster.
Because it's conveying that this is a new game in a franchise; when Nintendo started slapping new on their products with New Super Mario Bros. on the DS, that was because it was, well, a brand new 2D Mario, something we didn't get for 14 years up until that point (not counting games starring characters like Yoshi or Donkey Kong that first appeared in a Mario game), so that was a big deal. There are probably better ways to convey that which don't become outdated than putting "New" in front of the title, but it works, so they did. Four times. It makes sense, since they're all in the same series, and you could argue that the New in the title can convey that this is a new series of 2D Marios, but that doesn't really work once said series becomes 10 years old. Of course, this can all be applied to Yoshi's New Island, being, as AntDude said, the first Yoshi's Island game in 8 years, and that number might as well be 19 since no one remembers DS. Nintendo seems to have lost interest in the word when the Switch era arrived, and the only things they made that used the word since was the New 2DS XL and New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, both of which are just new versions of stuff Nintendo made during their obsession of the word, and I don't think anyone minds.
Part of the reason why neither Yoshi's Island DS or New Island come remotely close to the near-perfection of the original is because they were both outsourced to other developers. DS was developed by Artoon, who no longer exists, while New Island was developed by Arzest, which tells you just how much Nintendo really cared about those two games. To me, Wooly World is the closest to a worthy successor to the original. I may not agree with every design decisions behind that game - I don't appreciate having to rub my nose against every square inch of every screen to find collectibles that used to be in plain sight in the original, and the bosses are just plain unacceptable - but it gets my respect for not rehashing the same plot for the fourth time while still remaining familiar.
well Donkey Kong and Kirby have been outsourced to other companies and those games were good so I don't think its that Nintendo didn't care about the Yoshi games and while Yoshi's island is great I think near-perfection is maybe to much credit.
yeah i very much disagree that being outsourced in of itself is a reason, but its very likely that nintendo heavily limited those companies's creative control over the game (a la, paper mario on the wii u)
Can you elaborate on why you dislike the bosses in wooly world because I have beat the original yoshi's island an unhealthy amount of times and the only problem I can think of is the reused bosses.
When DK was outsourced to other developers, they were honestly really cool. DK Jungle Climber was really good. it's just that Artoon/Artzest aren't too good. they can make a solid game, but it won't be too good.
Interestingly Artoon primarily consisted of ex Sega employees from Sonic Team and Team Andromeda, and Arzest is primarily made up ex Sega and Artoon employees.
The DS actually had a lot of titles many people apparently forgot existed (or are just criminally underrepresented on TH-cam as the main demografic making videos often didn't even own handhelds beyond the GBC). I mean seriously, how many people talk about Spirit Tracks, Megaman ZX Advent or GTA Chinatown Wars compared to other entries of their respective series? And these titles are good, awesome and extremely awesome respectively.

Duncan McRae yoshis island DS was my first DS game and actually got me into video games at a young age. Contrary to popular opinion, I too really enjoyed the multiple baby mechanic. This game will always have a special place in my heart
Duncan McRae it was one of my first ds lite games and it was hard as balls didn’t even think i beat it
First 2 sentences can be said about a lot of new Nintendo games
The castle/fortress theme is trash in Yoshis island ds, don't get me wrong, I like the game and personally give the game a 7.5/10, but that theme is trash, it sounds like cave music, not fortress/castle music, and not even good cave music.
Yoshi's Island DS was probably my favourite game when I was young, I found it tough but it was definitely fun
So I actually enjoyed Yoshi's Island DS. Sure it did lack that feel of polish making it feel flawed and somewhat of a chore, but as a whole, I don't regret my time playing it at all.
If anything, Yoshi’s New Island taught us something very important: Yoshies can’t sing.
uh... Yoshi's Story.
@@That_Lady_Charlie Their talent dropped.
TheMarionick but there are voices singing in the title theme of yoshi’s story, and im sure those voices are yoshis

Me too i feel like i have bad taste when he trashes it
Yea the original was better
Only thing I didn't like that much about ds is the music in comparison to the original. There is a hack though that adds the music from the first to the ds.
I played the original Yoshi's Island (actually a GBA port) and Yoshi's Island DS growing up and they're both awesome.
@@Mr.Face222 Same. I enjoyed Yoshi's Island DS and 100% it, but it left me less satisfied than Yoshi's Island GBA.

What about partners in time when baby mario and luigi where in it

Nasty The villin It’s not the fact that’s it hard to believe, it’s the fact that it was thrown in there literally out of nowhere. And at least the others had SOME explanation.

We can say, that New Island is a interquel between the Original and DS.
So the timeline should look like this:
YI -> NYI -> YIDS
Piotrek1113 topsy turvy
Where is Yoshi's Story in the timeline? It has Baby Bowser too.
It's called midquel
Honestly, I love Yoshi's Island DS to bits. Maybe because it was the first Yoshi game I ever played when I was a kid, but still, the gameplay, story and music are all near and dear to my heart. Plus, it was the game that made me love Yoshi as a character.
Totally same for me but after I played the original in gba and for me this two games are « Yoshi’s island » the 3ds game make me sad
Damn that looks canon.

A multiplayer version with this sort of game would be amazing. Two Yoshis helping each other out and tackling stuff together, as long as one of them holds the baby.
I lost it at the "Yoshi just... Destroys his butt" part. I can no longer stop imagining the trauma, and it makes me chuckle everytime.
Some word variation of conservation perhaps?
Are you thinking of a continuity error?
MrShadow2x
YES!!!
Awkward Silence i thought that house in yoshi's new island was the wrong house, almost as if yoshis island DS never happened...

Mr.Feather130 it was my first video game I’ve ever played. I’ve got quite the soft spot for it

No, I loved it too and plenty of comments are saying they remember it fondly too. I think it's more likely that people who have a massive nostalgia boner for the first game like to rag on it for seemingly very little reason. I tried the original and honestly? I just kinda got bored so. I'd say DS is solid.
@@Storm_LunaTic well the original yoshi’s Island is such a classic for a snes game besides the donkey Kong Country trilogy
ahh I've always lowkey wondered why Yoshi's Island DS never seems to be acknowledged by anyone, so this is some good insight.

RKR I usually like the 3DS’d movement controlled mini games, but the problem was that the games themselves didn’t have much depth to them.
I feel the same about YI DS, I love it and its flaws are minor at best, imo.
New however... Let's just pretend it never happened.
I mean we all have oppinions, and Ant Dude's oppinion of DS was clearly lower than yours.
The level design is really bad. The double screens makes things convoluted
I still think Partners in Time have the best appearance of babies...Especially baby Peach.

Alex Cipe Fair point.
Clorox Hammer Half life 3 is never happening.
It doesn't hurt that YWW seemed to take more like Yoshi's Story than Yoshi's Island.
That’s exactly what it was like, it wasn’t fun to play, yet played it safe the entire way through. They really messed up, they should have made a sequel instead of a retelling of the first game. At least Wooly World was good and hopefully the upcoming Yoshi game will be good.

The fact that Mario's been wearing that iconic red cap since birth makes this hilarious.
8:40 Well at least they were honest about it in the title. :-P
But yeah, it does feel like a troll level. In fact Yoshi's Island DS overall felt more like a ROM hack or DLC pack than a proper full priced sequel. And don't even get me started on Yoshi's Touch and Go, which was an outright scam - they repackaged a 2 level tech demo and sold it at full retail price.

Huh.

Oh boy I hope trilogy doesn’t include New Island. Time to prepare my ears for hell
The two are equally as awfull.
Nah, average at worst. Just because they don’t measure up to the original dosen’t mean they are bad

I haven't played the original Yoshi's Island, but Poochy and Yoshi's World is a more than adequate replacement for me.
Yoshi's wolly world and Yoshi's Island are completely different games, they have similar gameplay styles but the stages are all completely different

There's that word again "New". Why are things so new in the past? Is there a problem with the developers' creativity?

Yoshis island is my favorite one, but it is one of the hardest game I've ever played
Yoshi's Island is probably my favorite SNES game. Music and aesthetics did it for me.
