IT'S GONNA TAKE A WHILE. Don't let the length of this video fool you. Just replaced the upper and lower ball joints (both sides) on a 2004 Mountaineer and it took me two days with the help of an older "Ford" loving family member. I'm not a mechanic but I can follow instructions very well. And even with all the shop tools at hand, had to use a blow torch to get all the old ball joints out. Then the post on one of the lower b.j. seemed to have gotten seized inside knuckle. Once we separated the ball joint from from the lower control arm, the ball joint post had to be overly heated and then pounded out with a sledge hammer from the knuckle. The ball joint compression device that I had available to me didn't have long enough rings so I had to cut a piece of pipe for it to fit over the length. 25 years of doing IT work does not help any with the physical requirements for this type of job.

Why bother showing the ball joint removal and insertion when you have replaced the lower and upper arms anyway.
How come when I did this exact job on my 03 it wasn't nearly this easy? Hahahaha
