Just want everyone to know this is more than possible. Do NOT be intimidated, you just have to start. Thank you so much for this video, gave me some self confidence and saved me quite a bit of money. Took me all of 7 hours lmfao but I got it done. Shout out to TRQ!!!!
Factory certified Ford Technician here. You can AVOID disconnecting the transmission lines by removing the cooling fan. Anyone trying to do this at home should avoid losing trans fluid at all costs.
Thanks for this very detailed video. I just replaced my radiator in my 2005 Explorer with a TRQ unit. Perfect fit, all went well. For some reason the heads on the push pins for the lower plastic shroud being removed at 14:00 were gone already (first time rad replacement). It was necessary to use a punch to knock out the pin bodies and replace with 1/4 inch sheet metal screws I had on hand on reassembly. Probably could have bought new pins at the auto store though. So just a minor tip, especially if you have no other transportation.
Thanks to the TQR team for this outstanding video. I really enjoyed following this very detailed installation procedure. I was able to do the work within 5hours. I would probably have been faster, but the transmission cooler lines are the real challenge for this operation. I spent a solid hour+ getting them reinstalled again. There are a couple of things I noticed worth mentioning. First, the radiator I got from TQR did not have holes for the skirt pins, which encloses the lower coolant pipe. After I drilled them out/added them I was able to install the skirt. That was the only difference I noticed between the original Ford radiator and the TQR part. Like I mentioned above the transmission cooling lines are the real kicker. While installing the clamp rings for the lines I came across another possible solution for disconnecting the lines and getting them set up again after radiator installation. If the hoses and rings are still in good condition but you cannot get the line connectors to open (you do not have the disconnect tool, they are corroded, etc), just simply cut the lines right in the middle of the rubber hose portion with a hose/PVC cutter. Before cutting, close the hose portion coming from the transmission with a vice grip or any other pinching device to prevent fluid from coming out. During the reinstallation process, use a 3/8” couplers from Dorman or any other car parts supplier to put the hoses back together. It should be rather simple since the hose pieces should be still the right length. I made the mistake, cutting the hoses at the radiator. As I learned later the lower line does not give you a lot of material to work with. Cutting them in the middle will make the coupler installation so much easier. Otherwise great customer service…
Just accomplished this and a water pump change.Your detailed instructions and clear video were essential for a relatively easy job! Especially your hints for the transmission cooler lines. Thanks!
Probably the best repair video I’ve ever watched thank you so much how are you made a video and 33 minutes I don’t know it will take me six hours to do this job but I’ve always been slow thank you
You are a mechanic God!! Systematic flow with tool and parts are unbelievable. Your articulation in oratorical skills are impeccable from Oxford College..lol..I made me laugh and work fun.
Great video guys, but one criticism: when you go from one ultra close up shot to another ultra close up shot - us guys who don't know what we are doing may not even know where to begin looking. An occasional shot from further out showing the engine bay would be helpful.
I found not quite enough space to remove and reinstall radiator in my '02 explorer ... i rented the fan clutch removal tool and found it much easier after the fan was removed. also found a 6" piece of hose looped onto the transmission cooler nipples would have contained the mess when transmission fluid drained out of the cooler during reassembly.
Just did mine today and was real lucky I didn’t have to pull the transmission cooler or mounting bracket lol. Was a pain wiggling it out and putting the new one in carefully tho!
Mine takes 16.3 quarts. As I put the coolant in the reservoir it overflowed at only ten quarts. Wish I knew this before hand and not wasted it. Hope this informs the next one not to do what I did.
Anybody know what tool to use to disconnect the transmission line to radiator...I know this fellow cut the clips do to his lines being rusted buy mine ain't rusted ...
I absolutely could not get the stupid thing back in the car, had to saw off 1/2 an inch off one of the radiator support tabs to get it back in and even then it was a battle. still had 1 1/4 inches sitting on the radiator support afterword, so it worked fine. I do have the dreaded "early production" 02's though.

I've owned my 05 explorer since 2010 before graduating highschool. 339k miles so far, this channel has helped me keep that beast running.
You just saved me $450 in labor. Thank you brother.

Love your videos. Very thorough. Much appreciated. You have saved me thousands.

great video very explained step by step most of videos never showed like you 👍
Holy crap. You are a life saver.
You are awesome. Keep it up
I found you at the right time because I'm working on my explorer 4.6 fixing my ac compressor, and radiator thanks
Mi a/c works now I got it 👍 everything is new
I like that clamp tool
Man you’re fast and intelligent thank you
Perfect timing my friends
Excellent presentation. Is there no need to ensure that the transmission fluid level is still correct?
Now what about the transmission fluid that drained out

Thank you so much I’ll be doing this this weekend but I’m sure it will take me 3 hours with a ratchet 👍😎
tHANK YOU FOR YOUR IMPRESSIVE AND TUTURIAL INFORMATION
Great and informative video, thanks for sharing

What is the part in the top left corner at 10:24? I have to replace that with the condenser and radiator but can't figure out the name of that part
🥇Excelente video muchas gracias por compartirlo 😎
I remember replacing this on my explorer around 2016? And it was a nightmare for me and my father.
Well detailed video thank you so much
Bro is talking so calm while i'm screaming on the inside because of how bad this design is...
Helped great thank you
Wow
You’re awesome buddy
GR8 video clip
Muy buen video
I can't seem to find whether this is for the 4.6 engine or the 4.0? thanks
YOU CAN EASILY DO THE JOB PROPERLY WITHOUT DISCONNECTING THE TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES. I DID IT.
Muy bueno gracias

I can’t get mine out to save my life. Been almost a week. Bout to bust out the saws all
Благодарю. Завтра меняю на своем авто.
Somethings in my eye.
And didn't mention anything about not being able to get passed the ac hoses on the passenger side
Thankio thankio thankio
Very detailed. Almost over detailed (that is a good thing) the presenter seemed a little monotone. Other than that it was great thanks
What a bad design
