I love the tip at the end about taking off the lower strut bolt instead of removing all the boxes on the top to access the upper driver side strut bolts...definitely going to save me time...thank you!
Although that seemed to work just fine, a bit of advice for others... in my experience (1 1/2 ball joints replaced) start with upper out, lower out, then lower in, upper in. Going in this order lets you use the tool the way *i think* it was intended, putting the pressure screw through the top hole to work on the lowers.
Quick tip, be aware of the alamite (grease fitting) position before removing and, if necessary, position it for easier access upon reinstalling. Whether it's yours or a customer's, you'll be making someone's job a bit easier. Never a bad thing. Blessings to All 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing this; I felt like an idiot because when I was installing the new ball joint I did the opposite and damaged it…thank goodness for a warranty.
Reminding the greas tip should be installed for easy access, he installed it facing in and won't be able to get to it, other than that great job and thank you really help me out installing my ball joints on my f150.🙏🏾💙🙏🏾
Nice and simple instructions thank you so much you just saved me a couple hundred, do you have any thing on how to replace manifold pipes on 05 trail blazer ls
Thanks for this, saw this kit on the bay and wondered if it might help to replace the honda civic VIII 2.2ctdi front Lower suspension ball joint... Probably, I'm still a bit worried as the arm is alloy and curved, what do you think?
According to manuals, what you call cups are actually adapters, and what you call adapters are cups. Basically a cup looks like a cup - a cylinder with a closed bottom. The smaller flat thingie is an "install cup adapter" (you can stack it with the install cup)
To do the top you need the catcher on the top, then use your spacers with the hole in the middle for the bottom. Once spaced out ok on the bottom use the ribbed one to attach to the press. 👌
Wow thank you so much I haven't even watched it yet I'm going to follow up with this because I have to go and I really want to pay attention. Weird part is I've never used a press tool and I've done all kinds of brake jobs and control arm jobs. Don't even ask me why it's intimidating but I'm going to watch this because you seem like you're ready to really walk us through it and there's too many videos to waste time on so thank you. I have my lower ball joints along with struts control arms Etc but honestly since mine is mounted in the knuckle I might reuse them if they aren't that bad. I can't imagine they're good with a completely torn control arm bushing allowing everything to slam around but we will see. Right now someone is like why the hell would you leave them in there if you have the ball joints to replace? Well time is one thing energy is another and my back is absolutely trash when it comes to jobs like this I might be in pain for a week after this. Another is if it doesn't look like I need them I'm just not the kind of person to replace something like this if I don't need it. Honestly though for the record I'm a really disgusted with the engineering these companies choose that is obviously intended to make things hard for us so that the industry can be held up. People think this is a silly statement but if you were a trillionaire and your success relied on a network of dealerships and shops and those dealerships and shops start going out of business because everybody can fix their own vehicles trust me it's not logical for them to make things easy on us that's why you literally go insane when you go to fix something and you get the tool you need and you get down there and there's something in the way that had two to three inches on every side and could have been somewhere else but they chose to put it right in the way of your socket. oh I love the pulley tensioner scam. Two square feet and they want to put something right in the way of your tensioner so you can't even do a belt job without a couple hours of preparation
Weell good thing no one was talking to you... Yah thats reality kid. People are busy and don't live on the internet. Ok maybe just some of us, you know the ones that fund the world around you. Lets see 8 minute video or 30 seconds of speech to text so I can go back to work? Thats what I thought. You cant even drop a comment that pertains to the video. Might want to take inventory on your own life if you have one. @@oo0Spyder0oo
Great "How to" video as always, mate! A quick question - before changing the ball joints of your jeep, do you happen to capture a "How to check your ball joints?" video? That would be awesome!! Stay safe and healthy there. Cheers, Chris.
Just rented a “ball joint separator” from autozone so I can remove the ball joint from the knuckle to get to the suspension and he gave me this, what a fucking idiot
😡 don't rent this tool from auto zone, they don't have NONE of the adaptor cups that sits on top. Now I'm stuck waiting to oreillys open in the morning. Gonna b late going to the alignment shop now! Still gotta do the passenger side SMH 😤
Exactly! The amount of force, even using lots of PB blaster on the rust, can be enormous. Some say to use an impact gun, some say don't. I've had to use an impact intermittently after soaking the area in ATF and acetone. Rinse and repeat. Sometimes it's easy and often it's not. Rust sucks!

Glad it helped!

The only video on TH-cam that I could find, that explained both. You’re the greatest. SUBSCRIBED!
Haha thanks mate! Not sure on the 'greatest' bit but glad it was helpful!! 😁👍

100%, top tip :)
Thank you for sharing this; I felt like an idiot because when I was installing the new ball joint I did the opposite and damaged it…thank goodness for a warranty.
Excellent! You have a *knack* for teaching. Thanks.
You are a real teacher. Thank you from Victorville ca :)

No sorry 😞
I always end up using all different combinations till it works. About time I get a real breakdown on how they aren't meant to work.
Thanks for the help spacer idea helped with the 2018 Jeep JK
I wish my Land Rover Discovery 2 Ball joints had zerk/grease fittings.
Thanks for the video!
Is the cup suppose to fit under the lip during removal too?
Thanks for this, saw this kit on the bay and wondered if it might help to replace the honda civic VIII 2.2ctdi front Lower suspension ball joint... Probably, I'm still a bit worried as the arm is alloy and curved, what do you think?
Hmmm I'd be looking for something as heavy duty as you can get :)
Did I miss it but I didn’t see how you used the tool to remove the ball joint.
Thank you and could you add the snap ring is it necessary needed or obsolete

You must be a distant cousin of Chris Fix on TH-cam.😃 Great video, too!
Not even in the same league 😆
I was hoping to also see which combo of pieces you used to do the top ball joint. Is that possible?
To do the top you need the catcher on the top, then use your spacers with the hole in the middle for the bottom. Once spaced out ok on the bottom use the ribbed one to attach to the press. 👌
Will this work for leaf spring bushings?
Yep sure does 👍

You didn’t have time to watch it because you had to go somewhere but then proceeded to write a frickin novel.

How many types of ball joint designs are there
Awesome prep on this video! Very well done
Thankyou ✌️
Would like to have seen you build it to where you got before removing
Great video thanks. Is a tool of this quality suitable/strong enough to remove and install smaller suspension bushings? 👍👍
Thanks 👍 Yep have used before no probs. Just need the right attachment in the set. Use some penetrant spray.
Will this work for a 2012 Subaru Impreza?
Love the Australian version of the Queens English 😂
😁
Exelente el video
Great video! Thanks!
What brand is the one in your video?
Very interested way of removing ball joint .

Fantastic video. Great learning tool.
What about retaining clip on top of ball joint?
Good video. Would have been nice to see you pressing it in and out though
Thanks mate, have a series of smaller fast vids in much more detail on the channel on both upper/lower and pressing in/out 🙂 Thanks for the feedback 👍
never tried on a car but on can-am spyder I usually just heat the crap out of were the ball joint goes and put it in by hand
Great "How to" video as always, mate! A quick question - before changing the ball joints of your jeep, do you happen to capture a "How to check your ball joints?" video? That would be awesome!!
Stay safe and healthy there. Cheers, Chris.
Sure did... Stay tuned should be the next one or two out :)
Are you using a regular driver or air tools to rattle that in/out?
Using an 18v battery driver :)
Why did u freeze the balljoint iv never herd of that?
Really gud video explained in fab details
I subscribed best of how you say muscles lol great vid thanks for the tips
Did you reinstall the old one by accident or did that new ball joint already have pre-rust? Haha.
Great video and instructions.
Haha nah just an old one for a demo, new ones were going in the new diff 🤘😁
I was assuming it was the old 1 also cause it was very flimsy
Thanks a lot really appreciate the information
How do you make them go in straight? Every time try to install my new ball joints they go in at an angle.
Just get everything dead lined up and take your time. Back it off and adjust after a turn or two at the start in need
great video ...many thanks..
Awesome, thanks!
Really great vid boss...
Don't forget the checkup retainer
Stupid auto spell check, Circlip

Let me know what other jobs you've used your Ball Joint Removal Tool for.. Keen to know!
Rubber Bushings!
Sertain presses can be used for ujoint aswell
Indeed! Have used this one for that as well, works well
Try it on a Ford Ba, no way it will press in straight with one of these at the beginning, hammer time.

Thanks
Thank you.
You're welcome Jeff!

Just rented a “ball joint separator” from autozone so I can remove the ball joint from the knuckle to get to the suspension and he gave me this, what a fucking idiot

In depth vids on the channel ✌️

Autozone fucked me😡
Not that straight forward. 🤠

It does indeed!
Thank you for the knowledge sir
Ok so at 2:47 you did not show the setup of the tool to press out the ball joint
