I drove taxi on weekends in Toronto while attending college. Went to pick up a food order at a Chinese eatery on Danforth Avenue. While waiting at the side kitchen door I saw 2 Chinese workers use a pail right beside a crate of vegetables as a urinal. Lots of splashing. When done, they simply "gave it a shake," zipped up and went back to cooking. I left without the order and called my dispatcher who contacted the customer. She was grateful. I called the Health Department Monday morning.
Rob, a lot of these workers who work in these Chinese type restaurants are what we call here in the USA "just off of the boat" and have hygiene habits so bad it would make seeing a dog lick his ass look sanitary! My wife ate at a Chinese restaurant one time and got so sick we almost had to take her to the hospital and as a result a lot of these Chinese restaurants I'm very leery of eating at anymore. Unless its a hibachi grill where I can watch them prepare it myself I wont eat there!

No wonder Chipotle is having so many issues with their food. It looks like they have nothing but kids running the store. Damn! seeing shit like this makes Taco Bell look like an upper-class dining high-end restaurant!

I think they are painting the most negative picture with a few outstanding issues. The one I work at is very clean, all temps are correct, we dont keep old food. All meat storage if in the same cooler is individually packaged and completely sealed off as not to risk cross-contamination. They are doing a fine job of demonizing an entire chain for the mistakes of a few local stores.

I think places are more unclean when they use gloves works become lazy they use gloves hand to wipe counter and other surfaces and then prepare your food without changes glove I have seen this at Chipotle and pie Five
yepitzmi you’re right! Gloves are supposed to be changed between meats and vegetables as well, but they don’t do that at Chipotle (not the one I tried working at, anyway). You need gloves for certain jobs but they should be changed every 5-10 minutes or as necessary. And NO LONG NAILS OR HAND JEWELRY as bacteria can fester underneath and cause cross contamination as well

My late father read meters for a Toronto utility. This was back in the days when most meters were inside. He always had horror stories about restaurants, especially the Chinese eateries in the Spadina/Dundas, Broadview/Gerrard areas as well as all along Danforth Avenue. Mice, rats, dog sh*t, lice, rotten vegetables, etc. Do yourself a favour people. Stay away from Chinese eateries.
