Here's the video breaking down how the reactor works: • I turn Plastics into F...
I believe with the world wide crisis we are facing now, we require a world wide solution. And this is why I believe we need decentralized devices such as this Reactor. Think about it, even if there is just 1 reactor in every community, that will put a huge dent in plastic waste and pollution.
Due to this, I do not wish to make a singular specialized Reactor, once I master and complete this one, I want to make all different types, of all different scales and sizes.

    Some thoughts:
    1. Plastic pyrolysis is a well researched topic. It’s historically been very uneconomic to reprocess it at scale.
    2. It’s not that simple to make fuels from plastic. For gasoline, you must have the proper octane or it will ruin your engine. It could make a decent blend stock though.
    3. You are likely making a lot of olefinic gases. Probably better suited as plastic feed stock rather than fuel.
    4. The compounds you’re making are likely very unstable. Put them in a fuel tank and they will oxidize in a few days I would recommend hydro treating.
    5. For your safety and please consider adding pressure safety relief and back flow prevention on your apparatus.
    6. Lastly stay motivated love the enthusiasm.

I believe that as energy gets cheaper from newer technologies like nuclear fusion, it will be economical. Isolated communities would also benefit a lot from it because of a way to dispose of the majority of their waste. There are those Liberian dudes making an entire business of that in Liberia because fuel is so scarce. With all things considered, you make some good points, but I believe that there are a lot of applications for it considering the constant need for gasoline in cars and the piling up of stuff in landfills.

Aren't the main challenges just the energy input and material sorting? Nowadays, these issues are solvable. With solar energy and AI-powered sorting, his machine can achieve net-zero emissions. Historically, emissions released into the atmosphere were a concern, but his machine addresses this by collecting all the carbon char and gases.

@@chillchilli2671 As a process engineer with my entire career in energy and chemical processing. You are, without question, oversimplifying the issue. Energy is still expensive whether it be solar or wind. Nuclear SMR’s may be energy dense enough to solve the energy issue. Sorting of raw feed stock is crucial but I can promise you AI is not going to automagically separate PVC and fiberglass from HDPE plastic. It’ll take a process unit.. process units cost money. Issues like water saturation will also need to be addressed. The water will take an enormous amount of energy out of the process further decreasing margins. I’m not saying it impossible just improbable. The apparatus works but add in the pre and post processing energy required and you’re stuck with high Capex and razor thin margins. The pay back period and ROI will be very low. I’m here to tell you that the majority of people take energy for granted and don’t realize the amount of work required to get it to your home or in your car. Looking at his setup/plans I guess he’s using about 4.2 kilowatts of electricity. That’s a lot considering his diesel yield looks to be about half a gallon.

@kotataylor1310 I have been thinking about what you said. It is true he has made a fundamental error in his energy calculations - there is a video where he claims to produce almost twice as much energy in fuel and he puts in in electricity. The flaw is that he is comparing the two. As per the 2nd law of thermodynamics, you can only convert fuel energy (heat) into electricity at an efficiency of around 35%. So that means he would have to get around 3 times as much energy out in fuel versus electricity put in to break even in energy terms.
However he is onto something and this is exciting, electricity varies in price through the day - when the solar etc is running hard and demand is low, the price drops indeed at times can even go negative (yes they pay you to take the power). So if he uses power to run his process when it is really cheap, generates fuel, stores it and then runs a generator (I'm thinking a gas turbine) when the price of power is much higher (during the evening), then you have created a battery - taking power at one time and delivering it back at another time! On rough calculations you would need to be able buy the power at a maximum of 2/3 the price you can sell it for to make this break even. Interesting!

Young gun you’re smashing it, some of the pieces look rough as, but that adds to the beauty showing your time and dedication to this build.
Are you using wind and solar to power with DC to bring energy costs down? DC can be done without a battery pack for pulling charge directly.

After say that, you all look like not so smart people, first of all, the plastic problem is only one, recycling and use it again to make products.
Using plastic as fuel is so dumb and wrong on many level.
      1) world first country are everyone running away from fossil combustion.
      2) pollution.
And the best part is i didnt see any comment about how he call: " this is natural gas" " this is diesel " " this is jet fuel"
I mean, cmon, atleast take your product to a lab and show the chemical composition.

Hey, I was wondering what the chemical composition is of the plastics you are using? If they only contain Hydrogen, Carbon and or Oxygen, this is awesome. Though, I am wondering if the plastics happen to contain inorganic elements like what methods or preocedures do you intend to use to make sure that they can still be used for pyrolysis that would leave us with fuel mixture only consisting of hydrogen, carbon and oxygen?

how many batterys and solar panels do you think it would take to run continuously
i feel you come somehow track how much energy you put into creating fuel on each run and get a decent estimate
and if you have a estimate im sure alot of people including myself would be willing to crowdfund the panels and batterys
and if it can be proven to be efficient at a small scale i know you could get funding to make a even larger one
i would like to see a future where entire plants are running these machines and the Earth is saved from all the plastic waste
    God Bless you
