As someone who used to play competitive badminton, this is a very good video. Sadly I had an operation years ago on my humerus from a different sport entirely and I could never play badminton the same again. Tendon gets inflamed and hurts :(
@@JacobsBadminton thanks. I still can, just far off competition level since smashing inflames the tendon joints alot. I play it at a much more leisure pace now :) keep up the good videos!
That's some AWESOME simple tips. Considering all of us got habits stances this help to see where the gaps in defenses are and how to use the attacking shots effectively. Mine has been to have the foot in the wrong position (instead of facing the smasher) so peoples above my level can easily exploit the gap where others got trouble finding it in doubles matches.
You should also take note at 0:35 in your do example, you are leaving your racket side foot behind. This is causing you to lose power. The power of your smash starts at your feet. You should be pushing off your right foot and shuffling it to the front as your left moves back. This starts the twisting motion that begins to build power. If you leave it behind your upper body is working against your lower body.
Thanks Mike and yeah he knows. Hopefully in the others he was doing it correctly. He just wasn't putting in the effort and focusing on showing the main point of that section.
I've subscribed to a few channels regarding badminton tips, but this channel is of quality and straight to the point. Time to unsub the other channels and focus on this one. Keep up the good work 👌👌
Muy buen video .... definitivamente hay diferencias entre el buen golpe y uno no tan bueno . Lo que me doy cuenta es que Lin dan da el paso diferente ... ya lo explicarán.
I have a question to my jump smash what foot should i use mostly to jump my dominat foot or my non dominant, cause mostly when i use my non dominant i have some good jumping and nice power while in my dominant im having a problem on hitting shuttle
know that when you strike the shuttle your other shoulder that is the non racket arm shoulder should be significantly lower as you are trying to REACH upward. Otherwise your shoulders are gonna hurt.
The elbow needs not to be straight, otherwise it may hurt the joint. It’s the position where you hit the bird affects the angle of your smash. If you feel the smash will be into the net, that means your opponent had a good clear and return a clear or drop is a better choice.
Great videos guys! I'm currently playing doubles and was wondering if I am pushed to the back of the court and cannot make a smash without being off balance, should I just make a clear (when opponents are front and back) and / or drop shot (when opponents are sides)? Thanks.

@@JacobsBadminton Thanks, any tips for not missing the shuttle when its very high, i loose it in the light as lighting is terrible and too bright at my local centre and it blinds ur eye, also when i try to hit a smash it ends up going out the court lmao.
What can I do if I cannot jump anymore because I have sufferred from a knee injury and even it was already 2 years ago, I still feel that my knee sometimes bending inward. Now, how can I have a powerful smash?
I'm too nice to smash towards my opponents body.. 😅 Always going for a cross or down the line instead. Tbh, I often lose a point as I prefer long rallies rather than going for an early kill.
Hello! Thanks for these tips! Subscribed! Perfect timing as I recently upgraded my racquet and feel like I forgot how to smash as I get use to the racquet haha 😂 I love the do's and dont concept. Slightly different and unique to most other channels. At least the way you present it, with do's and don'ts broken into segments, rather than all's the donts first, then going into technique breakdown thereafter. I think detailed technique breakdown is great as well, but your videos are probably resonating for some like me who's is maybe high beginner, looking to enter intermediate level. Wondering if you could please consider making do's and donts for doubles tactics? E.g. do and don'ts for basic rotation directions, who takes which shots, how to setup shots for your partner, what shots to take if you notice your partner moving in a certain way, when to apply pressure vs when to prioritise defence, court awareness and positioning that best supports your partner, shots to prioritise at the back vs front court in doubles, etc.
Hai glad your enjoying the dos and don'ts. It's on our small list of videos we are looking to put together. We are aware people are asking for more doubles content, just take more organising and asking friend to step in and help out but we will get there thanks.
Not everyone's movements will be same. And in this video itself back hand correction shuttle height varies, so the shots shown in this video wont work for the same if you try in real time..
You don’t want to sacrifice power for angle unless your doing it deliberately. As steep as you can with maximum power for your full smash. Techniques we talked about will help make it steeper without losing power.
