Some of the advice like around 3:35 with "Take the right amount of steps" sounds so oversimplified and unhelpful but it's such genuinely fantastic advice that was helpful for me to hear! The editing timing up with the demos really makes the lessons you give super effective. You are really great at physically demonstrating mistakes and improper technique and you are also really great at demonstrating the proper technique a minute later. I feel like sometimes other badminton videos I've watched don't show much of a difference between the two 😅
Great videos - I'm an intermediate level with a couple of years of playing badminton. I can relate all the mistakes to myself, and will definitely help me.
Great video, not many videos on youtube cover the dos and don'ts like yours. If you have time please do videos on game strategy, that will set your channel to a much higher level. Thank you
For doubles, the most basic and important strategy is to go sides when you lift or clear and front-back when you smash or drop. And also to always be quick to pounce on drop shots or net shots which are too high.
Wow... the best video I have seen till date... you have helped me out finding the mistakes I do... you have given me answers to all my questions... Thank you...
I'm an intermediate player and i always make mistake sin footwork this video helped me to to learn how to recover fast from one shot to another and have fast movement in the court. And if you habe rime please make a video on how to pay trick shots and also how to change our shots in the game and strategies for other shots .
Hello Jacobs Badminton. I really like the videos on this channel. and I want to give a little suggestion for the video format. I wish there was a part where the wrong way and the right way were brought together in the same frame (side by side). I think this is very helpful for other viewers to better understand the content of the video. Thank you.. Hopefully this channel can be more successful
The key point here is a tight net shot, after which a fast push cannot be hit. High clears will provide enough time to move, so the main focus here is a returned net shot.
How do I do my splitstep when my oppenent does a deception shot to me? I struggle to get the right splitstep direction in singles, cause i get wrong footed all the time. Great videos btw.
Lechro, glad you enjoyed it. Your is is based on what shot your expecting and antipating what your opponent will hit. Of course that comes with practice and experience. If your not sure where the shuttle is going you'll need to do a dead split (Square and on the spot) and adjust as you push off.
Hi Steve, If you study Lin Dan's movement (yes I know he is a rather exceptional case, but!) he will often walk, run back from taking a shot deep in the corner rather than chasse. Rare as it may be, it clearly can be done effectively. Lin Dan is often an exception to the rule! 😆
Simon, not sure if you listen to the whole video but yes I agree he would walk back in certain situations, like after a clear or high lift. Don't think you'd see him walk back after an attacking drop shot.
Love it but this one is quite tricky to see the difference. Would be better if u put the don't and do side by side at the end of each clip or smth, overall superb content!
I'm going to try out these tips... I'm 5'3 and have short legs, and I refuse to believe that my inability to cover the whole court (especially one end to another) is due to me being tiny..... how much do you think being tall provides an advantage to cover the court faster?
Having a great height like reduces the footwork to a measly level. In your case, I guess you have to train your reaction speed or play off intuition if your footwork skills are maxxed but still isnt helping
First one racket leg is back on the recovery, where we should have racket leg in front after a tight net to be more prepared to the the shuttle with a jump movement.
I don't why but whenever I am playing game how much ever I try my left foot will only come while playing net shots or lifts, but during practice my right leg will come forward. Can anybody pls help me with this
I agree with this guy but in last step I think it's not quite right because when you do any tricks the shuttle near your body will make your trick become more hard to guess
I know what you mean but to trick your opponent and make it deceptive I think you need to make it look like your going to take it early first and I don't think we did.
Does the round-the-head recovery contrast with this video from a few years back? th-cam.com/video/Qj-5vA1uFSQ/w-d-xo.html Dunno who the young assistant is in that video! 😁
Sometimes you will pick things up subconsciously from watching others and won't think too much about it but everyone is different. Others might have to really focus on it a practice footwork to make it part of muscle memory.

Easily relatable! Thanks for this. Also it’s interesting how you can replicate the mistakes for the video very well!!
Great video, not many videos on youtube cover the dos and don'ts like yours. If you have time please do videos on game strategy, that will set your channel to a much higher level. Thank you
Thanks Umang, means a lot to us. That's a great idea, I'll add it to our list for future dos and don'ts.

Haha, glad the tips really help you. We just try to make videos about the usual mistakes players we coach make.
his acting is so good when he plays like a bad player :D
Your videos really help intermidiate players to become advanced, the small details which coaches never teach. Love your videos.❤

Great to hear!

Very nicely explained, just the right video for me.

lol if you really watch badminton not just Lindan’s highlight, you can see everyone just walk back after doing high lift or clear
All the videos content are good. The best in TH-cam badminton world 👍👍
Thanks msk means a lot to us.

I am not able to makeout what's the difference in the foot work for the first set

This must be more appropriate for a singles player ?
Apart from the last one is it mostly for singles footwork yes. Hoping to do some doubles soon.
give us side by side comparison...🙂
Hopefully we'll do that in future videos
Nice video. Nobody makes videos like this.
Brilliant,
3:13 - splits
I do a lot of panic steps!!!
split step is important
I'm definitely the "don't guy"
haha, well that fact you recognise it will help you correct these mistakes in the future.
Does the round-the-head recovery contrast with this video from a few years back?

Dunno who the young assistant is in that video! 😁
Yeah that's young Daryl helping out.
전위에서 다리 위치 유지,후위에서 복귀도 다리 위치 유지 하며 너무 과하지 않게 돌아가기,라켓과 몸의 적절 거리 유지
Fancy Footwork guys
Thanks Wayne, Easy for me but Daryl is a try hard.
actually, when you get used to the game. Your body naturally adapt the footwork.
Sometimes you will pick things up subconsciously from watching others and won't think too much about it but everyone is different. Others might have to really focus on it a practice footwork to make it part of muscle memory.
Nice
Thanks very much
Drop Shot: Because smashing the ball straight into the net is just too mainstream. Let's aim for new lows, people! 🤷♂️🎾
I saw that now I become a cricket player😊😊😅😅
Gud vdo
Thanks very much

Whose style are you talking about?
