    I just figured this out about the index finger few days ago. My shots lack of power due to holding tightly the handle with the index finger. I fixed this, and my smashes and other overhead shots become better. But it took me 2 years to realize this problem :(. Your videos are very helpful, the best channel that I've found on the Internet. Keep the good work. Thanks for the great video.

    I just watch this video last night n try this kind of grip when I play this morning. I am amazed, I feel that my smash gets more powerfull, my reaction time gets faster, n my defense becomes more solid. Such small details, but change my game a lot. Thanks Coach.
    Greetings from Indonesia🇮🇩

      When we write, we hold the pen with our thumb and forefinger. The same goes for spoons and chopsticks. This means that the thumb and index finger are the most sensitive and quick fingers.
      On the other hand, if you need to lift heavy objects, use your middle and ring fingers.
      keep in mind Each of your fingers has a different role.
      controller, power generator.
      Keep practicing and make it completely yours.

    라켓을 엄지+검지로 컨트롤 한다는 것만이 정답은 아닙니다. 이와 반대인 그립을 사용하는 사람도 분명 있습니다. 나중에 이를 비교할 수 있는 영상도 만들어보겠습니다. It's not only right answer to just control the racquet with thumb and index finger. Some people control the grip with the middle and ring fingers. I'll make a video to compare them later.

      그냥 새끼랑 검지로 꽉 잡는 그립을 추천합니다

    hi Coach.. when playing doubles.. and ur partner lifts the shuttle high up in the air, what defense preparation grip would u use? would u prepare by using the grip in 1:58? or full thumb back hand grip?
    I love ur content and thank you in advance Coach !!

    • @full-swing
      @full-swing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unless it's a shuttlecock that comes in front of your face, it's almost impossible to use your full thumb.
      When I first teach badminton to beginners, I refer to the full thumb as the backhand grip for convenience. Even if you tell me about various grips, not only beginners can't do it, but they do it because they think it's difficult.

    • @jkw6196
      @jkw6196 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@full-swing Thank you for replying Coach... so should I just prepare my defense with the grip uve shown at 1:58 ? because what happens when the opponent smash flat at u and u want to block or do a backhand push? if I'm using the grip at 1:58 .. would I be too slow to respond?

    • @full-swing
      @full-swing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I mostly use that grip. Changing the grip itself takes time and causes inaccuracies. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to make every stroke without changing the grip frequently?

      Um...well. I don't know because I haven't seen it myself. I need to know how your fingers work and what power they can produce... I don't know right now. However, I think it would be better for you to know the principle of exercise first than the technical one. I will make a video about this.

      In that video, you should highlight the importance of the "gap" in the palm of the hand. In western world, they use hand shake as an analogy of sliding the racket into the hand to hold the racket but ignore the gap in the palm. Often there is no gap in the palm of the hand when you observe a western player's hand or the grip in the hand.

    When using Forehand grip do my index finger needs to be straight or bend round? For smashing

    • @full-swing
      @full-swing  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it would be a good idea to bend your index finger a little and hold the grip.
