Having a good defence, and being able to defend powerful smashes is VERY important in badminton! So hopefully this video helps you master your defence 🏸💥 PS. We're not liable for any damage to your court or body (6:05) 🤣
I love this channel. I live in a small Indian city and doesn't have access to high level badminton coaching. This channel helps me a lot . You guys are doing a wonderful jobs giving this coaching tips to amateur badminton players like me all over the world. Thank you🎉
love to see the editing features like at 0:20 and new content, shows grey and jenny are here to provide valuable insight. cant wait for your next video!
I really needed this. It arrived just at the right time! You're surely a The Simpson's worker! You predict my thoughts too well and accurately😅 awesome video as always
Hi, just saw your mixed in the first Bundesliga against 1. BcBeuel this weekend and how you smashed them away. Your videos are really helpful, keep it up!
Another great video from both you! :) :) :) I've been recommending your videos to the beginners of our club!! :) Also, can't wait for your collab with Linus :) :)
Thank you both, very helpful as usual, which breakdown the checkpoints for good defence and the idea of even pre and post defence. Cannot wait to try it out in tonight's game.
I watched you guys' videos on good defence, and I am greatly improved, especially with the tips about short swings. My friend wondered how I defend their powerful smash, haha.. won't tell them this secret. Yet, I am having another problem with defense which is I tend to lose the shuttle while moving backwards, this video might save me later. I will try to implement your advice on this.
Appreciate this video a lot. Came here after I watched how to do smash which I'm not so good at but this video really helped me to defend against most smashers. Best defence is a good offence 😊
Hi Greg and Jenny, I have watched many of your videos. They have helped me improve my skills a lot, bringing joy and motivation to me to play badminton. Some other old people and I are usually not in good physical condition, so how can I still improve my skills and enjoy this sport? For example, teachers will teach us about hitting harder and higher, but it seems not suitable for us. Can you give me some advice?
Hey guys, it was great to meet you in guernsey - the training was great and I really feel like I’ve improved in both drives and smashes! You were both so genuine and friendly, as in your videos, which is great to see in a world of fake TH-camrs nowdays. Thanks again guys, your training really did help me improve and was super fun
Good vide and helpful tips. A couple of things you missed though: - Lifting center is actually good - or at least better than you make it seem, as it reduces any cross court angles your opponent could hit. MS player Chen Long often did this and it's partly why he was able to return so many smashes. If you lift to a corner the angle can be very acute towards the other corner making it hard to defend against. However if you lift to the center, the angle will be less acute making the incoming smash easier to block. Even if this does require slightly quicker reactions, cutting 50% of your opponent's angles is huge for defense. - A good baseline level of hand-eye co-ordination and delicate racket control is needed to apply the tips in this video. If you are not naturally gifted with both, it'll be nigh on impossible (if not totally impossible) to apply the tips given in this video.
Glad you enjoyed it ☺️ As we said at the start of the video, this is aimed at doubles players, so lifting to the centre definitely isn’t a good option because then it isn’t clear to either player who should cover the middle! Hope that makes sense!
Great video as always! Quick question. What if the lift is played in the middle? Should the person who played the lift shift more towards the middle and cover the middle and their side? Leaving your partner to cover just their side? I find myself and my partner in that situation quite a bit and was hoping to get more insight on where we should be positioning.
Thank you for the great explanation! Sometimes i see pro players taking a very low defence stance with feet far apart. Is it advisable for amateur players?
Hi Folks ! Great job as always. Just one think that I have difficulties to adapt is your camera settings. Sometimes you both appear to be left-handed and sometimes right-handed. All your videos have the same problem. Could you please change it such that you both appear as right-handed persons so majority of the population could follow ? It would be great improvement to your videos ! 🙂 All the best and many thanks for your nice work !
Hallo Jenny and Greg, is it possible that sometime you give a review how to hit a shuttle or the way you should hold your racket when you hit back that it's shown in slow motion. That would really help also because we would like to use some of your training videos for our own badminton facility and improve our skills to play better. I really like to watch and listen to both of your great insight lessons. Keep it going!!!!!!!!! Greetings from Jurgen living in the Netherlands
Thank You so much!I have a friend who can do Jump Smashes extremely well and needed this, also can you make a video about timing all shots, like a video with how to do every shot that has time stamps, I know it’s a big request but please do it
Amazing tips on smash defense! Cant help but notice you guys moved on from the old thruster! Are you going to do a review on the new racket in the future? 😎
Hey Greg and Jenny 👋 you guys are doing amazing amazing work .its really help us to improve our game. i have one request to you. please can you make a video about how to kill close drop shot or shuttle above the net without big swing to not touch net. i always fear to kill the shuttle at net can you teach us some method to overcome this .
I could assess when playing games who has the best attack and try to minimise their attacking opportunity, especially if a player has a good smash. Try not to give him smashing opportunities or a lift right at the back, as if he smashes from the rear court, I can counter-attack it because the shuttle travels slower and it gives me time to counter attack if the smashe is not directed properly. He could be in trouble by smashing from the rear of the court if the shots are not carefully placed.
hi! would you consider making more racquet reviews? it would be a great addition to the variety of your content and i enjoyed a bit of your racquet reviews. maybe you can?
Very useful tips, especially the positioning of your feet. The other thing also helpful is not to lift the smash returns half court, as this would invite even more steeper and powerful smashes. Returning the smash like a drive so that the opponent does not have the opportunity to smash again.
hey guys I really love your videos they are helpful but I would request you guys to make a video on how to play a left handed opponent because they have the advantage
Parts of the technique definitely can be applied to singles yes, especially when you have played a short lift and your opponent is about to hit a powerful smash! However this video is more doubles focussed. In singles you have to cover the whole of the court so the technique and tactics are different.
