This video boosted my smash atleast 30% or more.. many tutorial videos emphasize on the shoulder and elbow rotation but I always felt that if I focus on hand, the power I use is not equal to the speed of the smash like I use 100% strength but the smash speed is only 60%. Until I watched this video.. you teach the opposite way which is not focus on rotation of elbow but focus on hips and waist rotation.. thanks the coach to explaining where the power should be generated from and now my smash is really satisfying.. the speed is equal to the power I use... Thanks alot... This is the best and most useful smash tutorial.. hope to see a tutorial of jump smash!

Thank you for that Viktor Axelsen. I just started playing badminton at 24, instantly fell in love with the sport from the time I stepped foot on the wooden court. My smash mechanics were really off as I switched from playing volleyball and my smash was mimicking my spiking motion with the elbow stretched high for the whipping motion. But now I know what I was doing wrong.

It's the time that we come to know it's legit and reliable. That too coming from a record smasher like you for this video specifically 😂.

Thanks Victor, I had a good smash when I was younger, and shorter of course. I stopped playing for about 10 years and when I returned, I just could not generate the same amount of power I did when I was young. I am only 44 now, but I have started to work hard on my smashes and it has slowly started to come right as my condition improved. I will surely give this a try as one aspect I have picked up is that I tend to dip down just as I hit the shuttle. Now if I don't do that, then the power is there, so now I will focus on keeping my elbow high and turn my body a bit more, and then do a slight leap as I hit. Will reply tomorrow.

Remember this. I have seen so many player and people tell me, I want badminton rackets that can smash very powerful. I want power in my shots. Just to let you know, badminton isn’t all about smashing. Your footwork, technique, skill, experience, control and most importantly focus is even more important.
The more power there is behind your smash, the easier it is for your opponent to counter your smash as a good player knows how to ‘borrow’ the strength in your smash.

Thanks for sharing an informative video. I was thinking like you mentioned that opening the arms will generate more power. But thanks for clarifying here that body position is more important.
I had a shoulder injury and got operated few years back and I am still yet to generate full power when I am trying to hit a smash. Kindly provide tips on strengthening exercises for shoulders. Special note on your gaming style: I love your gaming style and reflex on smashes

Great video - noticed a big improvement in my game. Helped with timing too as to wait and tense yourself (Hodor for a bit) and then release...somehow ties in to easier pronation too! Thank youuuu!

    Hi,
You've really helped me recently as I was trying to pronate late but I've noticed you have your racket face almost pointing in a similar direction to your chest so your really wide. I have found this really helps me hit harder and it feels really comfortable. Thanks awesome video.

Is much easier to understand the flow of generating power than other youtuber's teaching smash. Thanks Victor I will appreciate it.
