  • The breath is our tool to influence the autonomic nervous system. How we breathe directly affects the nervous system, the organs, and the muscles in the body.
The breath should be the first thing anyone looks at to improve mobility, range of motion, and overall movement quality.
Addressing the way we breathe can influence and help the body to heal from many disorders and diseases when practiced regularly and with proper guidance.

I found this very interesting. Pausing after inhalation/exhalation is something I’ve found myself doing unintentionally for a long time. I will pay attention and see what triggers it!

This is super! Pranayama practices seem to have the reputation of being some esoteric way to portal to another universe or simply a waste of time. It's neither! Pranayama is so crucial to a complete yoga practice, but is left out in most modern yoga classes. Thank you for being brave enough to teach us.

Here is a comment from my husband who is an engineer (he also likes your yoga and practices with you regularly): it's amps that you are running through a circuit, not voltage. Voltage is like the tension that enables the amps to run through a system. Best to you Tim and thanks for the great classes.

Breathing in and pausing is no problem. When I breathe out completely and then pause my brain starts screaming "take a breath ". All in all, I find breathwork very calming though. Look forward to tomorrow. Thanks Tim.

That was the first time someone explained jalandahra bandha like that! Wow! that makes sense bowing - the prefrontal cortex to the heart and I'm not sure I got your your words but I saw it as opening up that limbic brain to the calming balancing effects of prana. This is exactly why I came to this video this morning. Currently, I'm so excited about some creative projects that I was up late working on them and up early working on them could barely settle myself during meditation I was so excited to get started again. Which is all fun and games until the body crashes. At this stage in my journey, I need to flow in balance day to day. Ride the waves of enthusiasm but not overdo it and leave out downtime and self care and life maintenance. Namaste, Tim and thanks for all you do for all of us.

Hey! I´ve been practicing yoga the last 20 or so years, fairly regularly and follow the contious community. But I´ve never had any wow experience when it comes to breathing. It´s neutral, and feels like nothing special - or a lot of effort for nothing. What is the wow feeling suppose to be like?

Hey Elisabeth, Pranayama should be a separate practice to really get the feeling. The more you practice it the more sensitive you become to what is happening. Try first thing in the morning to see if it makes a difference. 😊
