San Diego: Freeway Vegetation Fire 07072024

LOCATION: EB Hwy 94/ SB CA-15 & Home Ave exit

DETAILS:
A fire of unknown cause broke out along the side of the freeway in a vegetative area. The fire grew quickly, and heavy smoke was crossing the freeway traffic lanes. Firefighters arrived and stopped the forward rate of spread. The Home Ave exit from eastbound Hwy 94 was closed for the firefighting effort.
Twelve hours before this fire, an illegal RAVE party was held in the storm channel tunnels below where this fire took place. Several hundred people were in the tunnels. The CHP broke up the party. Party-goers set off fireworks in the tunnels and the storm channel.

I've seen numerous idiots throwing cigarette butt's out of their cars. I'm sure this has caused many fires.
