    Big fire needs big water fast. That’s what deck guns are for. Knock down the bulk of the fire, then transition to hand lines. All they were doing was pissing on the bonfire. Let’s learn from this.

      If I may...I agree with you 💯 % ! But get rid of those automatic select nozzles Task Force Tips and run Straight Tip (or smoth bore) nozzles on your attack lines! Guys on the roof did a great job with the cut ! I'm assuming like everyone else that they were having hydrant issues 🙄! But if you have that much fire as you said go water...Go right to your tank water ! That's why ya have it, and use it through the deck gun from the street !! It's amazing how much fire you can put out with 750 or 1000 gallons can put out ! They finally got the job done and as long as all the brothers went home and the fire is out it's a good day Fellas!

      Fire can and have penetrated firewalls. The main purpose for these type on garages is to avoid going out in the weather to access the garage.

    • @bradmagnuson6963
      @bradmagnuson6963 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on when the house was built, as to whether or not it had firewalls. For example, homes built in the 60's, weren't required to have firewalls, because of the way fire laws, rules, and regulations were back then.

    • @ffjsb
      @ffjsb ปีที่แล้ว

      All you have to do is add 5/8" drywall over the existing drywall, and make sure that there's no void space in the ceiling between the garage and house. Also a good fire rated door. That should give sufficient time to stop the fire from spreading into the house. Unless of course, you have a Pennsylvania Volunteer fire dept. that responds to your house...

    • @davidlenzi3551
      @davidlenzi3551 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ffjsb better to use a duble layer of 5/8 fireguard drywall it has a higher fire rating than regular 5/8 drywall. I do agree that the higher the fire rating for attached garages the better. Many of the materials used in todays construction if treated with Ammonium Phosphate would slow fire spread remarkably. Add the use of rockwool insulation and the fire resistance to structures will rise making it much harder for fire to spread.

    • @ffjsb
      @ffjsb ปีที่แล้ว

      the people who commented about where you there I don't think they know the problem here. the truck driver engineer sure had a problem getting water to the nozzle. whether tis is a paid dept or volunteer, each man should be trained to know what his job is and the engineer should know that in the time it takes him to get hooked up that fireman on the nozzle will be ready for water and without hesitation charge that line. our dept trained for no lack of motion with out fault. if you were to hit a hydrant you charge as soon as you are connected and that engineer had better be ready with a clamp or hooked to the intake. that's where good training comes in

    This is a great type case for needing to use a deck gun. That might not have knocked down a fire this intense but it would have bought them TIME. Time they needed to deal with the water pressure issues, or get an alternate water source. Contrary to the old line from Backdraft, you *can* have a bad day on this job and nobody dies. I see lots of these videos always using the phrase “heavy fire”. How do they know how much it weighs? Who weighs the fire? What if you have a fire on the space station? No gravity, so it couldn’t be heavy, could it?

    all firefighters around the world should not be standing still when there are fire they should be pumping water onto the fire and getting it out within minutes of a arriving up to fire

  • @adams9264
    @adams9264 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I mean woo. This was a disaster. Defiantly need some pump training and train using other equipment that you have on your rig. IE a deck gun would has darken the fire down a lot if not all of it. And i dont know why people run while on scene. Do you train to run while on a active scene?? the answer to that is no. Especially with a ladder. If there was a grade to give fire departments after each house fire. I would give this job a 3.5 out of 10

      If you outlaw the attached garage, then you have to outlaw the kitchen, and the bedroom, and HVAC/water heater room, because fires start in every single one of these rooms.

    • @JB91710

      If the drywall is 2 hour rated and you have a good and responsible fire department, attached is fine. Based on that last part, detached garages should be the law.

    SCBAs, deck guns, and 2 1/2" lines were invented for a reason; use them! First arriving engine(s) must spot hydrants, lay in, and establish a water supply quickly. If not in a hydranted area, the first-in water tender(s) should nurse the first arriving engine(s). Next-due water tenders can set up porta-tanks to support ongoing operations. Big water quickly will limit fire growth and buy time to set up strategically placed handlines. IC should have coordinated a systematic sequence of tactics. These folks were running around without clear direction and coordination of efforts. I am a recently retired Blue Card certified instructor and have seen this circus scenario play out too often with improperly trained and practiced departments. I'm not saying these folks were not working hard and trying their best, but it is obvious they are in desperate need of training.
