He's in his 60's. So am I. Work gets sporadic and difficult to get. Especially for gig workers.
I don't know how this fire started. But the jails have let out firebugs. And sometimes homeless people have been the most responsible for so many fires.

Two nearly-deadly house fires I ran to sounded just like that. First one was in a kid's bedroom, with the two 4-6 year olds wandering outside on their own. Fire was out the window, licking at the roof eves. Gently! I first mistook it for a backyard fire - until I realized it's midnight on a Tues.

@mikeconnor3602 Okay, but regardless, as a firefighter, every car/truck fire I've ever fought has been a gas or diesel vehicle, so your point is moot. Combustion vehicles catch on fire frequently without needing to be in a wreck. It's not really unless an EV's batteries get damaged in a crash that you really run the risk of them catching fire. If it does catch fire, then god help you but they don't catch fire just sitting there.

It doesn't matter where someone lives or who they are; losing a car right now can be absolutely devastating. I have seen two families lose their cars to fires and it had nothing to do with EVs and it was in the state of PA where having a car is absolutely essentional for work and everything else...it can happen anywhere. losing your car, your home, and then potentially your job because of no transportation....I don't wish that on anyone. A lot of people are struggling and lowered their insurance coverage to deal with the costs: this is happening everywhere. To everyone judgeing her for screaming about her car: it was 4am and this is what she woke up to. She saw the cars on fire and may have thought it was just the cars and hadn't spread to the building yet; reacting in a way that is seemingly illogical, or even overly hysterical for the wrong reason, is completely normal in a situation like this, epecially when you have just been jolted out of sleep. This is exactly why emergency response people have so many hours of active training; they have to train to react calmly in these situations. Fires happen everywhere, to anyone one, at any time, for many reasons and they always have. Bravo to the firefighters.

Working in the fire industry as a fire inspector, who regularly inspected and tested fire hydrants... I'm surprised how long it took them to get water on that building. Looked like some scrambling on their part but it does not take long to put the hose on and turn the valve over. I was timing them because it usually can be done within 45 seconds if you have experience. But in all my years, I have not ever seen or heard of fireman training with fire hydrants. I say this because hydrants are inspected by contractors who are licensed within fire safety industry.

Where else are they going to park? Besides, if the gasoline is contained in the vehicle, the vehicle is in good shape (no leaks and no electrical issues), and above all, no arsonists, it's safer than it looks. Not to mention keeping the area clean (no rubbish on the floor etc.) will go a long way towards that.

@@brianfancher2052 Yes, something happened all right. And that could be anything that would cause a fire. Perhaps an electrical fault with the car, arson, an electrical fault in the building itself, improper storage of combustibles, a carelessly discarded cigarette butt etc. Fires don't happen, they're caused.
Even if there are no cars stored in the garage, a fire can still occur. The only way it can't occur is to tear the building down completely and don't build anything there.

None of these are EVs. From left to right:
    BMW 528i
    Chevy Cruz LT
    Hyundai Veloster 2.0
    Subaru Outback PZEV
    Subaru Impreza hatchback (2012-2016 model)
For those who don't know what an Outback pzev is, it means "Partial Zero Emission Vehicle." It is not an EV. It is 100% a combustion engine. The only difference between a normal engine and a PZEV is that it claims to burn fuel more cleanly, and therefore does not produce emissions that contribute to smog.
Who knows what caused the fire. None of the cars look to be the cause; my guess is that it came from something in front of them (maybe a garbage pile or a garbage can, maybe a cigarette ignited the trash or a flammable liquid on the ground).
What I do know for certain is that none of these are EVs and that while, yes, combustion engine vehicles are many times more likely to burn in a collision, EVs are hundreds of times more likely to spontaneously combust or ignite while charging-especially if improper/inferior charging cables or outlets are used.

Attention: Kia / Hundai have recently issued "spontaneous combustion" warnings for their vehicles. No, not their EV's. Old gas ones from 2010-2020 ish. (I don't see one here in the video, but it is worth mentioning, for public awareness.)
"Do not park indoors or near any other vehicles/structures." This is only the LATEST chapter of the saga of the incredible, flammable KIA recalls. First, several years ago, they blamed the KIAs undercarriage (while driving on freeways!) fires on faulty fuel injectors. (Which would break off at freeway speeds and spray the engine with fuel.)
Class Actions / settlements have already occurred.
But now there's ANOTHER safety recall - this time, they blame faulty fuses in circuit boards.
The recall notice basically states "if the check engine light comes on, pull over and jump out of your vehicle immediately."
Not just EV's, but some gas-powered cars are extremely dangerous. Since KIA / Hundai have not controlled this issue for more than a decade - they are on my "never buy" list.
