The uv resin will bond to pla but not after the primer. I've used resin to bond pla prints. I also recommend a uv pen light for curing the resin. I use cheap paint brushes to apply resin
Hey Frank. I use meshmixer to cut models and add rods too. I found that making the hole in mm isn't too bad as long as you can easily convert it to inches so you won"t have to use tape on the threaded rod
Something I learned from Adam Savage is that Baking Soda works just like the activator for CA glue. It also hardens and fills the seams much better for bigger props.
th-cam.com/video/7XYPnHODt1E/w-d-xo.html other stuff works also but you have to look at the temps with thiner models. actually spraying the graphite powder with CA shoulda also work
Wondering if putting the filler primer on first is what made the resin not react properly 🤔 tempted to give it a go when I finally get my Arc trooper helmet printed. That's if the extruder ever arrives from Sydney lol
i bought the ender 3 max, thanks to your recomendation, i am happy with it, and so i want to ask you a question, i am 3d printing kratos leviathan axe, but i notice the parts to be hollow, but like 1 inch diamater hollow, what can i use to strenghten it, metal rods are not that big, and i don´t seem to find something that fits :p, what would you recomend?
Heyy Frank. Your an awesome builder for the cosplay Iron Man suits. After the creation of mk 85, now you're in the process of making mk 39. It's a kind request as a fan of yours. Can you make more Iron Man suits, the House Party Protocol from Iron Man 3? The one which Tony stores his armours in his basement. After the completion of mk 39, can you make these too? Just a humble suggestion😁
Do you think the graphite rub would be a good paint color to paint a Mjolnir hammer with? I’ve never heard of it until this video and it looks like a good match
Hay Frank, when doing a graphite rub are all gloss blacks equal, all of my attempts are not as metal looking as your stuff, using the same graphite powder as you but they look way darker once done.
Hey Frank ,can you touch the blade with out the graphite coming off on your hands? i tried this and it kept coming of on my hands even days later. I thought maybe i did something wrong.
I was wondering how big is this sword cause I’m currently (more like thinking) of building astas demon slayer sword and if I wanna be actuate it’s about 4.5 ft long and I wanna see how I can cut down the sword putting it in peices
Awesome! I got one question you said 0.8mm channel isn't that too small? And ideally what channel diameter and rod diameter would you use? (metric) Keep up the good work!
I know this is probably a silly question but, have you ever had your PLA gear melt in the car on the way to a con? I understand if it was left in there all day, but like, en route, in a container? I'm debating between that or switching to PETG
@@FranklyBuilt thanks bro the MK85 build as been a fantastic journey and I've love every video looking forward to see the rest 🙌 I'll always watch your video 💜
@@FranklyBuilt thanks for the quick response. People are starting to remove layer lines with resin. I know you attempted that here but are you gonna try it later on as well?
@@FranklyBuilt Once all the parts are printed how long does it usually take to glue, sand, and paint? It seemed like a single day's work, but that could have just been the video editing.
Aww amazing, Sorry another question am also at a completely at a crossroads, I’m also looking at a cr 10 v2 would you say it would be better than the CR 10s pro v2? Amazon certainly thinks so lol.
Hey I just discovered your stuff and it's really cool! I'm looking into getting a printer for stuff like DnD figures and small models. You should totally look into making some anime stuff! Maybe the Attack on Titan swords?
Thanks for the video Frank! LOVE THE BUILD! you really brought that thing to life!
Hey that looks so awesome!!! Hey could you try making a wolverine mask and gloves with retractable claws?
I second this one! The Wolverine cowl is badass!
That would be sick!

That's super fun. I'd love to see more MOTU stuff. She-Ra's sword, Man-at-Arms helmet, etc... keep up the great work!

another great video!
this is on the top of my list of things to make when I get a printer
Nice. Working on this myself at the moment, and She-Ra’s sword to match, though resin printed on a Saturn.
Sometimes I use superglue and baking soda to fill in small holes/gaps. Try it out if u haven’t already.
That came out super good. Nice work 👏🏻👏🏻
That is a fantastic looking HeMan Sword.
Looks Amazing.
That post credit blooper tho… 😱🤣💀
When I was young, I had a plastic illuminated one!!!!!
Pretty cool! Nice job.

Hey there, super cool as always , hey is there a tutorial about adding metal rods to swords? Mine always break even with pla molding

C'est le genre d'impression à réaliser avec la CR-30 ;) - Beau travail en tous cas! ^^
Frankly built, can you make videos of you having fun engraving your products with a hot Knife Cutter?
Extra content
Love it!!!!!!!!

Hey man thanks! I don’t know if I will make more. They take up space haha
@@FranklyBuilt Its okay no problem😁👌
wow so cool!
Great project! Have you tried PLA Gloop?
Is there a technique to cut models up with mitred edges? joining mitres makes a much smoother joint and with a little filler joints are hard to see
in a cad program you could use a Cone shape for cutting. i think mechmixer can do it too
Mix baby powder and superglue into a paste, best trick I've learnt to hide seams
OH HELL YEAH!! 👍
Do you think the graphite rub would be a good paint color to paint a Mjolnir hammer with? I’ve never heard of it until this video and it looks like a good match
Actually. Yeah! That’s a sick idea
Can you clear coat graphite powder after it’s on? Any clear coats you recommend?
The voice actor for skelator is going to be at Cinci ComicExpo this year. Any chance you'll be there?
Nah sorry
Awesome. Hey Frank, have you done the Sword of Omens before?
Very nice!
How long did this take you to make and what printer did you print it on.
A few days and a few printers
Hay Frank, when doing a graphite rub are all gloss blacks equal, all of my attempts are not as metal looking as your stuff, using the same graphite powder as you but they look way darker once done.
No. You need to play a round with some different types
LETS GOOOO!!!
That’s a very nice plastic sword
oh sorry, AWESOME JOB !!!!!

What the best first 3d printer

Nah never had that problem. Just don’t leave it in hot cars
He has the power of greyskull!!
Very cool, have you made the Thundercats sword?
Another great video frank 👍 the sword looks awesome 👌
Can I ask how many more MK85 IRONMAN SUIT update have you got 🤔
Probably only a few haha
@@FranklyBuilt thanks bro the MK85 build as been a fantastic journey and I've love every video looking forward to see the rest 🙌 I'll always watch your video 💜
For someone who wants to get into 3d printing cosplay what would you recommend to start with?
Check some of my other videos I talk about a few. It varies
How many rolls of filament does it take to print an iron man suit, and do you have any tips on how to make paint look like brushed metal?
@Dominic Eason so I just went on a live stream with him, and he said 10 to 15 and that's including failed prints. Thanks though
About 13 is average
@@FranklyBuilt awesome thanks!
Damn that's huge lol....yes I know, that's what she said....mine is a bit smaller and more 80's action figure-like. Yours is pretty badass though!
wow
So for builds like this, so you only do one pass with the electric sander and then filler primer? Does that usually get rid of the layer lines?
Basically yeah but you can always do more
@@FranklyBuilt thanks for the quick response. People are starting to remove layer lines with resin. I know you attempted that here but are you gonna try it later on as well?
I plan too!
Man you are awesome, I wanted to ask how you deattach your jaw from mk85 helmet, could you show it in detail please🙏
I have. It’s just magnets
Hey Frank 2 questions here, why dont you use an airbruch and how long does it take to make such a cool prop. It look amazing :)
I have an airbrush just haven’t used it yet. Spray paint has been working fine for me haha
I know you always use the graphite rub, but how well does the metallic spray paint work out?
I don’t always use it haha I’ve only use it on 2 swords so far. All my other blades are metallic spray paint

Need a bit of advice, I am thinking of buying a CR-10s pro V2. I’m thinking of buying it off amazon. Is that a good place to buy it off?
Yeah very good. Great return policy
Aww amazing, Sorry another question am also at a completely at a crossroads, I’m also looking at a cr 10 v2 would you say it would be better than the CR 10s pro v2? Amazon certainly thinks so lol.
You should make the golden he man power sword next
can't find the STL file for this build link to niko industries does not go to this 3D model
How about a Ironman/ghostbusters mash up?
Where can I get the files to print One?
Can you make a video on how to measure and scale a helmet to your head
I kinda did in a previous scaling video
I was wondering how mutch print-time this sword needed.
How much would someone charge to make one of these, painted, finished, and shipped?
I’m not selling large swords yet. Shilling is too much
show us the blade after the drop! :D
Never lol
I really hope it didn’t break like the back of the iron man suit!!! I imagine dropping the back was a little more devastating…
I can smell the pla from here, or is that pancake syrup? You cooking breakfast?!
This guy gets it
When will you make iron man motorization part 3
Soon!
Please do a primaris helmet from warhammer 40k
Hey I just discovered your stuff and it's really cool! I'm looking into getting a printer for stuff like DnD figures and small models. You should totally look into making some anime stuff! Maybe the Attack on Titan swords?
