Every strong warrior needs a fitting weapon! So for my Beidou Cosplay we obviously had to create her famous Blackcliff Slasher! Based on a 3D model from The BrunenG, Benni spent over 150h 3D printing the base and many more days assembling, sanding, and painting it to perfection! Thanks so much for following our Genshin Impact project! Hope you like the result!
Thanks so much to everyone for following this project, and also to the people who helped me along the way like ‪@bakkaCosplay‬ who made the wig, Denise Winter who made the vision, The Dangerous Ladies for the accessory 3D files, TheBrunenG for the Model of the 3D sword, @blackmaskedfox for the photo editing and my lovely husband Benni, who put so much work into creating my amazing sword and edited and uploaded all the making-of videos! I hope you enjoyed this journey! I hope I’m able to honor the Captain of the Crux! ❤️

3d printing is definitely not "cheating". As if there was such a thing as cheating in cosplay making. The sword came out incredible as always, as did the costume. You guys are both amazing. Thank you for sharing with us!

Right! Like surely a sewing machine would be classed as cheating or using tools to sand, make holes and cut stuff.

The point of cosplay is to make it come to life period so I agree not cheating at all.

This is so cool, the build turned out perfect ❤️
Also 3D printing is definitely not cheating. Yes it’s easier to create builds, but it’s like saying using Eva foam is cheating from using actual raw materials, lol. It’s just a quicker different method, cheating implies you’re not suppose to do it or that it’s wrong, which it isn’t 😂

Ugh, you are so right! You’ve opened my eyes and made me realize they were correct all along! But we need to take it a step up: we have to source and mine the materials ourselves, and also craft our own tools to forge the blades! *Everything* must be done by your own hands! Only then will it be fair for all!!! 😤(😂)

People saying that 3d printing is cheating very likely overestimate the process and underestimate the additional work that goes into the parts.
It's not press a button and be done, after all. (Or they are purists and shun it on principle.)

I'm also curious how heavy the sword turned out to be.
Also, I will admit that I used to think 3D printing was some kind of easy way out. That was years ago though. By now I know better. It's a lot of work especially when you make your own model's.

Wow this costume is absolutely amazing! You inspired me to such an extent that now that I am 14 years old I have already set myself a goal... He wants to be as good and high-ranking cosplayer as you are! It's a really wonderful feeling to be able to look at your costume making processes. And although I've been a cosplayer for 7 years, I've learned so much from you

Benni did such an amazing job with crafting the sword! From the planning to the paint and finishing 😍 3D printing is definitely NOT cheating. It’s just another method of crafting something with a different tool. It makes some aspects easier (like being able to use a form 3D modeled by someone else-work smarter, not harder lol) but it’s still not easy to execute properly. If Benni didn’t understand the process or have the skills, it wouldn’t matter who did the 3D model, bc there would have been so many more mistakes.
Huge kudos to you both and hope there are more collabs with Genshin in the future! I love the game a lot and your cosplays are always top notch 😆

And he totally didn't almost break the sword in half while sanding... No no no... :D This is your first project that I actually followed from start to finish on social media, and it's so awesome to see it all come together in a video like this! I binged all of the other videos too, of course, but I was not around when you actually did those projects. You two are awesome

I made both beidou's outfit and sword last year, so it's really cool to see how you guys crafted them both! We had similar approaches on certain components and different ones on others, so it really felt like comparing notes haha. Looking forward to seeing your future builds - would love to see you guys tackle more genshin ones (especially the weapons!) 🥰

I used to think printing was cheating. A few years ago a friend was telling me how far down in cost they’ve come (I was still thinking this is the 90’s and they’re thousands of dollars). Around that time I came around. I started on an Ender 3Pro and have since graduated to an Nep3Max. Definitely NOT cheating- just a different threshold of propmaking.

Absolutely amazing job! It's not cheating, there's just as much planning, work, and effort that goes into making something as a print as there is in making it from any other materials. 3D is still limited right now, and this is a good show of how much time it takes just to get each piece printed correctly, then you have to put it all together - it's work. But so worth it! I want one!!!

I'm really set in my foam making ways so a 3d printer has never been on my wishlist of tools (Dremel tools and accessories are always on my list 😉) People make brilliant things with 3d printers and to me it's just another style of building with different skill sets. It's been a little disappointing that many of the foam making channels I used to watch to get ideas turned exclusively to 3d printing but you and Benny have always created wonderful things with all your materials and resources available. Even If I don't have a printer, I can still appreciate Benny's painting skills 🙂

I don't think 3d printing is easier or harder than making something from scratch (or maybe it is easier but not THAT much easier), but it's mainly just an alternative way to make things imo. as someone who is REALLY bad at math and technical stuff and does not understand 3d printing at all, I have a lot of respect for anyone who can do it. also I just enjoy physical crafts more. not to mention the price of 3d printing- that arguably makes it "harder" than making something from scratch out of foam! I guess 3d printing is more like a way of being able to mass produce something or get it closer to perfect than something handmade, but handmade things also have their charm and making things by hand is more accessible. I have a friend who is into 3d printing and made a helmet from the video game we both play, and I'm so impressed by it but he's also really impressed by my handmade foam skulldog mask lol. also, he complains that the 3d print material stuff is too heavy and stiff for him to actually wear that helmet. 3d printing has its uses but I guess it can't fully replace good old eva foam :)
