It is, actually. I did testing. The problem with the swords was that they had very few surface layers. What the hexagons do is stop the shell from collapsing. Most of the strength comes from the surface layers. If those swords were printed with more outside layers, they wouldn't have snapped as easily.
@@sea_kerman There are a lot of problems with the sword in terms of printing and while the shells are one I would say an equal culprit to why they came apart so easily is because of the way its layered, the layers are clearly printed going up the blade ( you wouldn't get the hex pattern he shows otherwise) which means when the blades strike each other ( or even just swung hard through the air) the force is going to try and separate the layers which by the looks of the break this is exactly what happens, while thicker shells can strengthen this flaw in printing it is better to print in a direction such that the force cannot be applied this way, in this case printing such that the layers run parallel to the length of the blade rather than perpendicular. Also the Hex pattern itself is a problem of this the pattern is designed for caring about compression only and the infil is crazy low for a piece that long, for something that is going under these forces you want a larger infill and ideally if the printer can handle it more complex infill patterns that can handle 3d stresses.
I found both of your channels separately. For Jaza, I was just looking about how to color and found his stuff. I don't remember the video, but it was long before I wanted to start writing a book. But what I colored THEN turned into the character that I wanted to write a book for, so when I started researching online for stuff, I found you. Fun fact, there's a whole school of swordsmanship that centers on the "berserker wild overswing" with a katana specifically, called Jigen-ryu. Obviously it's got more form to it than just "wild overswing", but the principle of strong overhead cuts is more or less the same. In the 1860s, a lot of users of this style fought on the Emperor's side during the Meiji Restoration, and the things their opponents say about their style are fascinating. Probably the most interesting is from Kondo Isami, who said that their overhead strike must always be dodged, never blocked, or you risk having the guard of your own sword driven into your head. It's rather interesting how Japanese swordsmanship styles maximize the efficacy of the katana as a weapon.
@@Danturan I mean if you want another source than Kondo, look into Kirino Toshiaki, another notable user of it at the time. Since the Satsuma domain was one of the primary factions in the Bakumatsu period, users of this style were very common and prominent, but none so infamous as Kirino

"We're brothers."
Then came the realization that they sound exactly the same.

he did manage to get a hit in before breaking, mostly they break after crafting
And at 9:28 as well.
You guys need to do more collabs, this was hilarious
for sure
Yes!!
Hell ya
Definitely
I came here from Jazza's channel after he spent 5 months making his chain mail... This video was Hilarious!!!! Thanks Mate!!
You're evoking some serious memories of making a set of riveted mail when I was a blacksmith. Months of work in my off time out of the shop. I think 3d printing and making a set takes just about the same time, if you're doing it by hand.
Me too
Jazza: "stop making this weird"

You two should do collabs more often. The videos end up being, like, ten times funnier than usual.

That sounds wrong though
My wife will get a kick out of this. She's a big fan of jazza
Eh! That's our household too! I'm sharing it to her messenger.
ive found these you tubers independently years ago and im just now finding out that they are brothers WOW
Same!
Your personalities shine when you're together. The trash talking back and forth isn't something we can get from either of you on your own. I love it lol. The sexual innuendos omg lol.
What I expected when I clicked: super serious testing of armor and long detailed explanations
What I got: two bros playing around and laughing a lot
was not disappointed :D
Well it said feat. Jazza so what did you expect!
Mr_ O _Blue_Ninja true.
Ok but why would you expect that??.
Shad's mail removing technique is legit. I have seen many medieval manuscripts and artworks depicting knights or men-at-arms in mail hauberks doing so.
Suddenly all the medieval stuff on Jazza’s channel makes sense
Jazza: I only agreed to this to break your swords and sabotage your channel!
Shad: I only agreed to this to trick you into stabbing yourself in the back!
....brotherly love.
...and trash 5 months of work. Don't forget that bit.#justiceforGIJoe!

I didn't fully accept this as reality until halfway into the video. At first I thought they were joking. I thought hose might be random photos they claim is them. IDK it just was such a shock. But their interaction seemed natural enough for be to finally accept it.
Yesss, i only realized it when i looked into the comment section!
And the two being Mormon (although I think Jazza is no longer?) make sense now.
I watched both of them before the collab and just thought it was a coincidence but now it all make sense.
You guys are the best brother duo, you both are very talented
The plastic mail did hold up better than I expected. I thought it'd just shatter, but it took slashes decently
Omg I watch you two guys completely separately and then it turns out you're brothers??? This is better than that moment when you realise that most of the Greek heroes are related because Zeus!!

An interesting couple of brothers. Both feature a genetically inherited talent for youtubing but one shows you how to draw swords while the other will explain, in excruciating detail, why everything you've drawn is completely wrong.
This is overwhelmingly accurate.
But which ones which? I can’t tell XD
@@nitrous_god -- That's the beauty of their symmetry: it's both.
One will complain that your shading looks too basic and your design is plain and lacks inspiration, expression and character. Then you fix it, take it to the other brother and he will suffer a nerve-collapse from the useless, unbalanced, dangerous, pointy sculpture you just sketched out and turn it simple again.

Why it that siblings can bring the idiocy in each other out so easily? Lmao 😂🤣
Sometimes it goes to far i.e the Paul bros and the ksi +deji family ....
Because they know exactly what buttons to push😂
Only if you´re the same gender... or the chances are higher, I think. I never had a relationship with my sisters even close to other people with their same gendered siblings.
Vinmister 111 kinda helps that Jazza is just like that 24/7.... love him so much 😂
Siblings, if they're close at least, sort of know what fascinates and excites each other and have probably talked about it before, so it immediately becomes just like any other conversation, which can lead to energy, which leads to shenanigans.
Jazza: "You can't have it filled cause that's a waste of plastic"
*Proceeds to break multiple swords of plastic*
Filled is strong
although that's true he can technically reuse them
You understimate how much plastic it would take to use 100% infill it would cost quite a bit more. Also the 16 hours turns into a few weeks...
@@Krytern more like months unless you have multiple printers
@@richardhicks5031 Yeah you're right it really would take months. I don't care about people giving their opinion about something but if they know nothing about it they really shouldn't act like they do.

Pros: very strong, deadly
Cons: take days to construct
3D Printed Sword:
Pros: takes a few hours to construct, only requires plastic
Cons: 9:28
thats a pro in my book

The moment the enemy realises whats going on they are gonna fall over due to laughter you just gotta survive till then

They just need three more for. . .
FIVE GUYS!!!
9:29 Damn. This should have been an actual technique in medieval combat. Instead of attacking as you normally would, just launch your entire sword at your opponent, letting you keep the grip and pommel so you can end them rightly.
Nick Bullinger Throwing your sword is really common in fiction, and it works in real life. My mom didn’t stand a chance.
Not gonna lie had us in the first half
It actually kind of was, Vikings, when they would swing at their targets, would slightly loosen their grip, letting the blade flyforward, and then grab the blade again, giving it some extra reach.
This is one of the coolest things ever, ive loved both of their channels for years and im just figuring out they are brothers, biggest mind explosion ever

Those 3D printed sword are secretly brilliant though. You can just snap the pommel off to end your opponent rightly as quickly as possible.
