Fr bruh, I loved Pokemon Legends Arecus and I wanted more of that. I THOUGHT Scarlet and Violet would improve on that formula, but no Game Freak and Nintendo fumbled it. Then comes Palworld, it scratched that itch I had for a modern Pokemon game.

I love pokemon, but the current state of the games are absolutely horrible and the community has got even worse. They simp for garbage quality assurance and make excuses for a lazy company.
The community has constantly attacked any type of competition despite how quality it might be. Palworld has been the highest profile creature collecting game to release since the disappointment known as Scarlet and Violet.
I hope palworld is the first of many games to take on pokemons monopoly, there are so many great series that deserve that spotlight more than the current state of pokemon.

Considering that it is 3 different companies working together to create the pokemon games and bring them to market i seriously doubt its as simple as nintendo getting someone else to make the game. I expect that would be a break of contract of some kind and result in some major lawsuits.
Nintendo has very little say in the creation of the pokemon games. Their role is publishing, distribution and marketing for the games.
THey would have made Masuda hire more employees and work with the rest of TPC to give Gamefreak more generous deadlines if they were being smart, let's be honest.

As a Pokemon fan, I absolutely adore PalWorld! Pokemon just hasn't been all that interesting to me since White/Black, and here's Palworld giving me an open world adventure and the freedom to do whatever I want, however I want! Here's hoping this lights a fire under Pokemon to get them to create something new and exciting for a change.

Now faced with some competition, Game Freak actually has to put more time, effort, and love into their games. “But Palworld’s sprites are a blatant rip-off of Pokémon.” Just do a side-by-side comparison of Dragon Quest 1 and Pokémon Red.

Yokai Watch is a terrible game to reference as 'cribbing from Pokemon's design' since every monster in Yokai Watch are BASED on creatures from Japanese myth. So, at best, you're saying Yokai Watch borrowed ideas from one of the same places Pokemon did. Which is... 90 ish percent of what PalWorld did.

Streamers did have a part to play in popularizing the game. On the other hand, Palworld's gameplay loop has proven to be addicting enough to maintain a considerable playerbase. Will the popularity die down? Of course, that's the natural cycle of popular games. Will the devs ignore it afterward? Unlikely given how they now have lightning in a bottle and with the records the game has gained. Overall, none of this drama or any future cooldown of popularity will stop me from enjoying this game way into the future (with breaks now and then), and I believe Im not the only one to share this sentiment. I look forward to Palworld's development and its impact on the gaming industry.

@@Kratos7560 Similar to No Man Sky they just keep updating the game almost non-stop. They've added so improvements, new content/events and new features that there is a stark difference between the launch version and the current one.
I guess they don't have a bigger media presence like No Man's Sky so I rarely see their new stuff in the news. I mean TH-cam would recommend me TH-camrs getting excited over an upcoming No Man Sky mega update. SOD2, however, just announced their big updates on Steam like a regular patch announcement.
Followed palworlds development and release date for 2 years after seeing a trailer for it and it did not disappoint. I always loved Pokémon from gen 1 but palworld gave us everything we wanted. It’s so satisfying beating a Pokémon you don’t like with a blunt object.

It was a matter of time when Harman made a video about Palworld.
Harmon Smith is that one toxic friend that thinks every shitty thing his friend does is the best thing ever, so rather than encourage his friend to be and do better, he eggs him on and convinces the friend that he is in the right, which causes the friend to escalate their actions until it can no longer be tolerated by those around them.
The worst thing is that he has made his role here take up such a large part of his personality, he refuses to even let himself enjoy a game unless it is made by Nintendo or at least for a Nintendo console. Because of this he doesn't really pay attention to anything not on a Nintendo console. Hence how he reaches the conclusion that one can reasonably compare Overwatch and Splatoon.. In his mind, Overwatch has shooting, Splatoon has shooting, so they have to be the same kind of game right? He's probably never even seen footage of Overwatch to even know that it is a significantly different game than Splatoon. And I'm ngl, I kind of doubt he plays much Nintendo games either so he probably hasn't actually played much of Splatoon. My reasoning here is that if he actually did play them for very long, he would have far less time to make his videos, so he would have even less of an idea of how Overwatch compares to Splatoon.
He's closer with the Elden Ring and Dark Souls comparison since they are both Souls-likes, but whatever accuracy he had went out the window he compared Dark Souls to Skyrim, and it's such a weird comparison to make since they have nothing in common and Skyrim is one of the most rereleased games ever, and being designed for mass appeal and with a low difficulty.
Then there is the main comparisons of the video, that of Pokemon to Palworld, Temtem, Yokai-watch, and Digimon. Each of these games are very different from Pokemon. Despite this, Pokemon fans often just count them all as clones, even though quite a few of these IPs are very different in their games and even in the structures of their stories. Digimon in particular doesn't have the monster collection in most of the games and the anime. Much of the time the human characters get paired up with a single digimon that grows over the course of the series through their bond with their partner (note that they are considered partners not owners or masters of the digimon).
The games tend to be drastically different from what Pokemon games are. The earliest ones were closer to those old tomogatchi pet toys where you raised up a digimon by feeding it and taking care of it's other needs. Digimon games also sometimes had mechanics like aging and death from old age. Yokai Watch was also quite different from Pokemon and though it wasn't as big in the west, iirc it was very big in Japan. Even despite the difference in gameplay and the fact that the monsters were all designed based on yokai, Pokemon fanboys still often argued that it was a clone or that it stole from Pokemon.
Another one people often accused of stealing was the Megami Tensei series. Like Yokai Watch, the clear inspiration for the "mons" in Megami Tensei series should have made it clear it didn't steal but that would also take 2 brain cells to figure out and some of these pokemon fanboys are sharing just one.
Another interesting part of the conversation is that some of these IPs came before Pokemon, it doesn't matter to Pokemon fans. They assume that Pokemon not only created the genre, but also the idea of monsters in games to begin with. Even more hilarious is that Pokemon has some designs that are straight up ripped off from Dragon Quest. Whatever similarities Palworld mons have to Pokemon mons, Pokemon beats with the similarities between it's mons and DQ's mons. Pkmn fanboys either haven't seen these comparisons or they are willingly ignoring them.

Ive been having a blast on palworld....and the roadmap has me excited and im not even close to being done with the game still like mid gameish dont even have a rifle yet lol, i dont even like survival games but this game dug its claws in deep lol played it for 10 minutes on gamepass then just straight up bought it after that lol.

edit: If you wanted a more serious answer... beyond the concept of "catch monster in ball" nothing is relevant or comparable to Pokemon.
Poketpare have even cited Rimworld and Factorio as direct inspirations for Palworld, and the actual gameplay loops swap between Ark Survival, and factorio; You focus on survival, and survival requires Pals that operate as automation. THE FACTORY MUST GROW, THE FACTORY MUST GROW, THE FACTORY MUST GROW
As for the Rimworld inspiration; butchering pals, eating pals, "condensing" pals; killing, capturing, and butchering humans... the lore tablets even directly cite eating pals, death, drugs, corruption, and inhumanity in general.
Also, a really neat little detail, some pals are obviously omni or carnivore; and will walk up and eat "dead" pals or humans.

Considering how absolutely horrendous and lazy the newest pokemon games have been technically and content wise. It's no wonder the PC crowd is eating this up like no tomorrow. It's filling the void that Gamefreak won't fill themselves because they want to be lazy or incompetent.
Palworld is completely different. The only thing that is SIMILAR is that you catch monster and use them in battle. Why does Pokemon get to have the monopoly in that genre. No one is allowed to make monster capture games? Souls like has become a genre and there are plenty of games imitating that play style but they aren't rip offs. As a Pokèmon fan, i want Palworld to reach 30 Million units, beating down Pokèmon Sword and Shield, as well as Scarlet and Violet.
Nintendo, TPC and Game Freak have become too complacent, and they need competition, as the rushing schedule has clearly debilitated its graphics and care put through the Pokèmon.
Can't pet them like in X&Y, Can't have Shiny Legendaries in Scarlet and Violet unlike the other games, Can't have the full Dex and all Megas since Sword and Shield, no Battle Frontier or PWT facilities after the jump to 3D, Animations get even more terrible with each Mainline release and Scarlet and Violet's still glitchy as all heck after the release, aside from having extremely unstable framerate.
Next time, I want an effective Splatoon competitor, because 3 is bad, thanks to those Tetris Block maps, Gatcha-like system that drains your in-game cash real fast, a Splatfest mode that sucks compared to Shifty Stations and a terrible reward system for its horde mode compared to 2.

Anyone remember when Square Enix released Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance in 2012 which had a monster collection gimmick where you could train them, feed them, and pet them in a separate menu? Why didn't Squeenix sue Nintendo for ripping that off in X and Y which came out a year later?

TL;DR: The current generation of gaming is ass backwards. AAA games suck and the indie titles are dominating the market. Palworld is just he most recent example.
I got Palworld because of the controversy and because a friend recommended it, I'm not big into Pokemon (never had any desire to even look upon it) but with the inkling of a possibly of this game getting shitcanned and liking what I had seen I didn't want to miss out. I booted it up and only intended to play a half an hour, 1 at most to get a feel for it. 4 hours later and I had to tear myself away so I could go to sleep for work. That friend also has only recently started playing it and already put 53 hours into it.
So yea, idk what Palworld has that Pokemon doesn't (other then guns) but they should really start taking notes. Hell, the INDUSTRY needs to take notes. It's sad this early access (clearly unfinished) $30 game feels more complete and less scummy then full-priced AAA games. But honestly, that seems to be the norm nowadays.

I still respect Overwatch's launch it's hands down the best modern release (including wow expacs) in technical terms. Like it was really smooth, bug free, and good server condition helped so much. I remember so many wow expacs that huge server ques, game is laggy once you get in it was painful. Especially before they implemented realm sharding on expac releases; the starting zones would be picked clean of quest mobs and resources tied to quests. Also Kaplin literally contributed it getting it's goty award to all the memes on social media. It's like he just revises history to fit his view its dumb I hope this doesn't carry over to the rest of his life.

The ONLY reason i brought the game on launch week is because of all the b*tching and complaining pokesexuals were doing. Im not into survival games in the slightest. Why do i have any allegiance to Pokemon. We never got additions to the Pokemon xd series. We probably wont get a legends Celebi and at this point they have been releasing and making us buy the same game since b/w and B2/W2 over 10 years ago. Pal world is what Pokemon should be right now if these guys were lazy and greedy. PalWorld has a new Stan in me for now on.
As someone who played world of final fantasy an appreciated what it did to the mon genre that people weirdly forget is also on the nintendo switch. Nintendo simps and pokemon try hards are only angry at Palworld. Because, the game actually dared to innovate and try something new. Meanwhile, what has pokemon on the switch improved? For those who say its a new open world game. Well pokemon park 1 and park 2 beat the switch games to that. If they say crafting was made back on gen 2. That wasnt crafting that was item trading side quests. If they claim you could ride a pokemon since gen 1 because sure which doesnt count since, thats a requirement hm move. As much as I never played Digimon. Digimon Cyber Sluth while being a visual novel mon game. It at least made the combat fun and actually made me wanna create strategies for battle. Which pokemon has failed hard to even do. I never once felt like I needed to plan out should I use a potion during a battle or swap a partner out. Theres just no planning or skill in pokemon anymore.
Now the game is close to what, 20 million copies or something like that? Between steam and Xbox over the span of 1-2 weeks. Imagine if they put it on PlayStation as well. They knew American markets would eat this stuff up, combining an anime franchise with guns. Not to mention for an affordable price.
