Cyberpunk edgerunners was gonna take anime of the year for me, but if chainsaw man continues at this quality/gets even better, then that is definitely gonna take that instead

Pair that with the level of hype even a anime norman like myself could see, and I had to go pick up the first volume. Now I'm really enjoying the fresh medium. I read American comics for years off and on, but this is totally different. All that said, I'm wondering if you're right. The anime has a big ask attached to it.

I think Mappa will do a great job, but in my honest opinion, Chainsaw Man feels like it works best as a manga rather than an anime. There is just a certain feel for Fujimoto's art style and paneling that I don't think can be captured in an animated format. The first episode was good, but to me, it just didn't hit like the chapter did.

Denji's first thoughts on Hayakawa was "hes probably into that revenge shit" which honestly reminds me that most anime's rivalry is that the other person's motivation is just revenge. And Denji's monologue reminds me of Light's monologues from death note, not too sure why.

Im gonna be honest, most of the shows you mentioned i have never seen ot even heard of in my life. The most obscure show that ive watched that was mentioned was chihayafuru, which is 100% the best sports anime.

I got into anime in the mid 2010's. Of course I knew about some titles and had even watched a few episodes here and there. Even when I started watching anime some of those 10-20 year old anime were still talked about a lot in the community. Now they just forget it after it airs for the season.
