Gintama deserves the place it gets on all those lists.
It's amazing, especially when you go deeper into the philosophies of the characters and how well the side cast is developed
Also as of now since the first episode of chainsaw man is out, THEY COMPLETELY nailed the fujimoto feel.
Mappa did not miss, they did this RIGHT. Cyberpunk edgerunners was gonna take anime of the year for me, but if chainsaw man continues at this quality/gets even better, then that is definitely gonna take that instead

Chainsaw Man's trailer actually made me get into manga. I thought the concept was so outrageously insane-uhm, I mean creative. Pair that with the level of hype even a anime norman like myself could see, and I had to go pick up the first volume. Now I'm really enjoying the fresh medium. I read American comics for years off and on, but this is totally different. All that said, I'm wondering if you're right. The anime has a big ask attached to it.
I 100% agree with how you feel when it comes to the Chainsaw Man adaptation. I think Mappa will do a great job, but in my honest opinion, Chainsaw Man feels like it works best as a manga rather than an anime. There is just a certain feel for Fujimoto's art style and paneling that I don't think can be captured in an animated format. The first episode was good, but to me, it just didn't hit like the chapter did.
I actually love the cinematic style that they’re doing with shingo yamashita and also in the op too
2011 is definitely my favorite anime year of all time. I was 14 or something and going through Steins Gate, Gintama, Future Diary, etc. was amazing

I was 13 in 2011 and god that year blew me away. I had mostly been watching garbage shonen before that, but I really started widening my scope that year and I found a ton of my favorite anime because of that.

I have one problem with this list. I wouldn't mix movies with shows. They are completely different worlds. It's a bit like comparing the best dishes from different restaurants on the same list where catering service is compared.

I know nothing about Chainsaw Man beside the first 2 episodes.
But seeing how the opening is riddled with movie references, its clear they really enjoyed themselves making it.
Episode 1 was decent just like most anime's episode ones, it is to build the characteristics of the main character and what the series is about.
Episode 2, same thing but unlike all the other animes I've seen. Chainsaw man was the first ever anime I've seen THAT is riddled with irony and sarcasm. The humor is and the delivery was nice. Denji's first thoughts on Hayakawa was "hes probably into that revenge shit" which honestly reminds me that most anime's rivalry is that the other person's motivation is just revenge. And Denji's monologue reminds me of Light's monologues from death note, not too sure why.

my personal pick for anime of 2022 will probably be Mob Psycho III or maybe To Your Eternity (if it's as good as the first season)
it can be scary seeing how much anime there is and how much new stuff comes out all the time. still, i definitely try to push myself out of my comfort zone by watching new anime alphabetically, after Bleach and One Piece finish up (that alone is a scary realization, both of those shows are ending... yikes...) i intend to watch an Anime starting with P, which my instincts say Pokemon, but i dont want to go down that road if i can find something else.
