my fav would be d-frag, it;s technically harem but the mc couldn't care less about the girls love, though most of them don't even love him, in the manga there is only 1 girl. What i like about it is the background/one-off characters are more important than the main cast.

the first three are peak for my sensibilities. my criteria for that is, if I have 3 friends who all have different schedules, and all 3 of them want to watch this show with me, but each friend is at a different point in the show... can I watch it with all 3 of them, no matter what point they're at, and get them all to finish it? if the answer is yes, it's peak to me. and I've literally done that with all 3 of these, successfully. Golden Kamuy is at the top because I did that with it 5 times and would literally still watch the show again.
also, some titles _would_ be on here if I didn't prefer the manga... Monster, Fullmetal Alchemist, Fruits Basket, D. Gray Man, etc. the anime are good, but for each of these, I would prefer to read it.
and yes, Chainsaw Man is recent, but that doesn't mean I can't recognize what I like... I hate the term "recency bias" because legitimately, I have trouble getting into shows I don't click with. I'm actually picky, not even willingly, but because I have ADD and bounce off of things for terrible brain reasons that are 100% a me problem. I know what I like because they're the shows that I'm actually capable of consuming comfortably. these 9 anime are all shows that I was excited to watch more of the whole time. plus a good amount of them are really fun to discuss in terms of themes and character analysis... I don't do that with shows I don't like that much.
To the guy who chose future diary…. I recently watched Future diary for the first time and it would’ve been so much better if the MC wasn’t such a whiny bitch. I liked the plot and most of the other characters were good, but if it wasn’t for Yuno I would’ve never finished it. It was so cringe at times cause of Yuki. He’s gotta be the worst protagonist out of any anime I’ve watched.
