I have two sisters and I'm not attracted to them in any way, but this show still moved me because I simply have knowledge and common sense about what an incestuous relationship would mean in regards to the worries that many people have about it. For example, possible genetic defects from inbreeding are often the reason why people despise everything that has anything to do with incest, but in reality the risk of any major mutations or serious illnesses is only about ~1% higher with inbreeding because the dominative gene alleles are most often the "good" ones. Besides, modern homo sapiens have been studied more and more with each passing century, and scientists have found out that hypothetical inbreeding could even have bonuses over outbreeding, since humans have been exclusively outbreeding for so long that even actual positive genetic traits have begun to be lost through the mutations that occur within each new generation. This is partly due to the bad living habits nowadays. And it's not like s*x is the main point of any relationship, for fuck's sake, so why even bring it up? If you want to talk about it, you need to recognize that inbreeding is not as much of an issue as people think, and now, science has advanced to the point where there is a high possibility of harmless genetic corrections to remove defects in people. Also, love isn't something you choose, obviously. It's an intense attraction that cannot be explained, and there's a billion little variables that play a part in the natural function that is attraction. Even a 12-year-old with a good upbringing can understand that with their severely underdeveloped frontal lobe. So who's to say whether or not the love between two siblings is inherently wrong? If the two take all of this into consideration and are smart about it then how is it bad, really? I mean, siblings know each other the best, have many similiarities in behaviour and most likely have the same taste in many things, so wouldn't they be the perfect match for each other? Especially nowadays, as romance among the younger side of gen-z is quite literally dead. I have nothing against it, assuming that both parties in the relationship are in it completely by their own choice. Grooming due to the power dynamics engendered by age difference is always a concern, but as it happens just as much in regular relationships, it's not a good argument against incestual relationships. It's necessary for people to know that while there's always going to be bad in the world, you can't punish everyone to make yourself feel morally better. So personally, no objections what-so-ever. I mean, isn't being against it kinda like being against respectful LGBTQ people? Everyone used to think gay, trans, bi people etc. are sick in the head, and incest is thought to be the result of confused feelings or deranged people too. My guess is that some people just are like that -"sis/brocons", as people call them. They probably can't explain it themselves either, because it has so much to do with those small events from a time long forgotten... BUT! Despite all of what I just typed down, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't confess to my sister even if I was physically/romantically attracted to them, since that's just the social norm I've grown up to see all around me, and I'd probably be scared to do it because of that. Yeah. My 9x9 would have FMA, Steins;Gate, AoT, Re;Zero and March Comes in Like a Lion, so 5 at least out of 9 would be pretty vanilla. Then again, I still keep up with RWBY even tough I know it's really bad (and arguably not even anime).

There's a subtle difference between "Put up your 9 favourite anime" and "Put up 9 anime that best represents you and your taste/love for the medium". Connor took it as the first whereas everyone else understood it as the second.
@@lightcloud__ I can't say I agree. Any opinion is annoying when someone is trying to be edgy, but most people that like pop stuff aren't being edgy, nor do I see why it would seem that way. If anything, it's the people that list off unrecognizable properties that would think they're edgy. Some people just aren't big cinephiles, such as myself, or some get into genres late. I would talk movies/TV with anyone as long as they aren't being elitist. The only thing I agree with is that this is a podcast with anime buffs and so they should have more anime to talk about, which they do. But for this episode, they're simply talking about their favourites. These shows are popular for a reason. Has nothing to do with lack of personality. To be fair, season 1 of Oreimo had no incest, it was genuinely a funny little show about an Otaku girl who is afraid her hobbies will lead people to shun her. Then season 2 dropped and the protagonist had every girl in the show suddenly wanting to fuck him. The tone of season 1 and season 2 is so incredibly different.
I'm a nostalgic kind of person and I also suffer from anxiety, so I have a tendency to rewatch my favorite shows. Watching new things sometimes fills me with anxiety, especially if I have to worry about characters dying, and I have no issue being spoiled about dark events happening in a show. Conner has talked about being a very goal oriented person, and hearing him talk about the past, I get the feeling he doesn't dwell on it too much. It's kinda like how his 3x3 square represents his favorite anime while the others chose more what represents them and their taste. For Conner, they're one and the same, and given how successful he's become, I think him having high expectations of himself plays a role in his tastes and how he views himself.
According to their anime tastes, I can clearly say that: -Joey is the otaku (in the japanese meaning of the word). -Garnt is the weeabo --Connor is the normie

I can relate to Connor the most tbh. I legit can't remember what happened in most anime I've watched. Also huge W for having Kaiji on there. Almost nobody talks about that show. An easy 10/10. Also it feels like the others were tryharding to put shows on their lists that most people wouldn't think of, meanwhile Connor just went with 9 shows he loved, without putting too much thought into it, which honestly makes his list more genuine.
I love how in every single episode, Joey and Garnt are the two oversophisticated weebs either fighting with each other or ganging up on Connor who just represents the common folk liking to put in some good anime every once in a while.

Odda has straight up admitted that when he starts an arc he knows how it will end. But as he writes it, characters and situations will develop that he didnt think he would enjoy expanding. He ends up writing alot more for those arcs. Thats why dresrosa was so long. He also ties everything up really well. Mans a legend

Honestly watching this again, Connor was given an L by 2 anitube veterans not properly explaining the game to him. Seriously props to him for sticking to his guns and defending the choices despite this. They really could have done better pointing out that it isn't about an anime being good, just personally influential shows/movies. It's clear that they had an understanding like that going in, but Connor was stuck on 9 best animes in their opinion. I could have seriously seen Connor pulling out a joke all Jojo 3x3 intially given how he talked during the episode.

Okay, sound editing nerd here- I've just gotten into editing my own videos, and the degree of skill Trash Taste shows is phenomenal. Like, I'm watching lips and counting- tongue click, tongue click, breath- totally silent in broadcast. Connor adjusts his mic at one point mid sentence and the levels stay dead consistent throughout. Hats off to whoever is in charge of all that.

MHA is just a very mid show, season 1 was ok, season 2 was weak and honestly very boring, season 3 had the same issue, I didn't even bother watching season 4 because there wasn't a single character I gave a shit about I didn't like or love a single character from the series. It was all just a meh series to me.
I liked season 3, kinda ig. Season 2 sucked if you actually seen the fights, some literally lasted 30 seconds. But I think its way more fun to pick a favourite character and just follow through it through the series. I picked Tokoyami and was pleasantly surprised in season 3.
Hey i agree with Garnt the way producer and studio staff handle the romance aspect between the MC, other girl and his sister is perfect it make you root for each of them. 7 out of 10 is an anime that's rewatchable and good enough to own. It's a compliment on my list. Some anime I've gone to rewatch end up with lower scores sometimes. It sucks but it happens. Negima's second anime is victim to this. I liked it but found the jokes fell flat and studio shaft made a bonkers story of their own that had a few pointless bs episodes before actually attempting anything resembling a plot. I'm still a bit bitter lol.
I watched Brotherhood recently, I give it an 8, it’s very good, but the hype killed it for me, it got me burned out of it, if I had less expectations, I would have liked it more.

That's one of the shows that got me into slice of life anime alongside korê ha zombie desuka and the one with characters who don't know how to make friends(forgot the name). I don't really care about the incest part. who the fuck cares if they like each other? The only reason incest became a Taboo is because of genetic issues from inbreeding.
I feel like we have to take into account that most of the Western human population has a kneejerk reaction of disgust to incest themes. Personally it's something I enjoy in my media, and I felt Oreimo is one of the best we've got when it comes to this despite its faults (most of which weren't the author's fault, and came about through the publishers shutting him down), but even a degenerate like me can't reasonably expect most people to judge the show and LN fairly. Honest-to-god incest is just one of those things that people from the West often can't handle.

I believe what Garnt meant to say was. Oreimo is a good coming of age story that was good at showing a group of people with varying personality coming together to enjoy a common interest while learning to accept each other despite their personality flaws.
Saiunkoku is just a great show on its own merits. If you're not deathly allergic to everything shoujo I think it's worth watching. I'll take Fushigi Yuugi - The Mysterious Play over Ceres, Celestial Legend as my Yu Watase fix, though: solid 1990s adventure Iseikai, comedy, and 100% less incest. It also had a couple of 90s bangers and some solid character image song CDs.

We're late as fuck, but let me say something (please read it without your thick moral glasses, think about it and analyze your feelings before attempting to reply):
Whenever people see incest in any kind of context, they just immediately go "eww, no!" only because that's how society sees it and because they don't know the basic biology that applies to the moral questions often thrown around when incest gets brought up.
I have two sisters and I'm not attracted to them in any way, but this show still moved me because I simply have knowledge and common sense about what an incestuous relationship would mean in regards to the worries that many people have about it.
For example, possible genetic defects from inbreeding are often the reason why people despise everything that has anything to do with incest, but in reality the risk of any major mutations or serious illnesses is only about ~1% higher with inbreeding because the dominative gene alleles are most often the "good" ones. Besides, modern homo sapiens have been studied more and more with each passing century, and scientists have found out that hypothetical inbreeding could even have bonuses over outbreeding, since humans have been exclusively outbreeding for so long that even actual positive genetic traits have begun to be lost through the mutations that occur within each new generation. This is partly due to the bad living habits nowadays.
And it's not like s*x is the main point of any relationship, for fuck's sake, so why even bring it up? If you want to talk about it, you need to recognize that inbreeding is not as much of an issue as people think, and now, science has advanced to the point where there is a high possibility of harmless genetic corrections to remove defects in people.
Also, love isn't something you choose, obviously. It's an intense attraction that cannot be explained, and there's a billion little variables that play a part in the natural function that is attraction. Even a 12-year-old with a good upbringing can understand that with their severely underdeveloped frontal lobe.
So who's to say whether or not the love between two siblings is inherently wrong? If the two take all of this into consideration and are smart about it then how is it bad, really? I mean, siblings know each other the best, have many similiarities in behaviour and most likely have the same taste in many things, so wouldn't they be the perfect match for each other? Especially nowadays, as romance among the younger side of gen-z is quite literally dead. I have nothing against it, assuming that both parties in the relationship are in it completely by their own choice. Grooming due to the power dynamics engendered by age difference is always a concern, but as it happens just as much in regular relationships, it's not a good argument against incestual relationships. It's necessary for people to know that while there's always going to be bad in the world, you can't punish everyone to make yourself feel morally better. So personally, no objections what-so-ever. I mean, isn't being against it kinda like being against respectful LGBTQ people? Everyone used to think gay, trans, bi people etc. are sick in the head, and incest is thought to be the result of confused feelings or deranged people too. My guess is that some people just are like that -"sis/brocons", as people call them. They probably can't explain it themselves either, because it has so much to do with those small events from a time long forgotten...
BUT! Despite all of what I just typed down, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't confess to my sister even if I was physically/romantically attracted to them, since that's just the social norm I've grown up to see all around me, and I'd probably be scared to do it because of that. I am just another rat in the maze of human society. This message is a mere objection to that society: I find it odd (albeit interesting) how modern humans evolved and created a kingdom where it's a social taboo to have any closer relationships with relatives, even though this is something that happens everywhere else in nature. That's all.
Congrats for bearing with me and reading it all the way to the end! Most people would likely go "I ain't readin' allat" and leave it there. Anyways, think hard about this one; it may be a hard mindset to get into, and requires some open-mindedness. Let's have a Rogerian argument with this.👍

If anything, it's the people that list off unrecognizable properties that would think they're edgy. Some people just aren't big cinephiles, such as myself, or some get into genres late. I would talk movies/TV with anyone as long as they aren't being elitist.
The only thing I agree with is that this is a podcast with anime buffs and so they should have more anime to talk about, which they do. But for this episode, they're simply talking about their favourites. These shows are popular for a reason. Has nothing to do with lack of personality. I'm a nostalgic kind of person and I also suffer from anxiety, so I have a tendency to rewatch my favorite shows. Watching new things sometimes fills me with anxiety, especially if I have to worry about characters dying, and I have no issue being spoiled about dark events happening in a show. Conner has talked about being a very goal oriented person, and hearing him talk about the past, I get the feeling he doesn't dwell on it too much. It's kinda like how his 3x3 square represents his favorite anime while the others chose more what represents them and their taste. For Conner, they're one and the same, and given how successful he's become, I think him having high expectations of himself plays a role in his tastes and how he views himself.
According to their anime tastes, I can clearly say that:
-Joey is the otaku (in the japanese meaning of the word).
-Garnt is the weeabo

Say that after reading the My Villian Academia and War arcs as they basicly turned the manga from a Cousin's Birthday Party to a Cousin's Birthday Party that was set on fire by that one psychotic delinquent cousin everyone has and they did it for fun. I can relate to Connor the most tbh. I legit can't remember what happened in most anime I've watched. Also huge W for having Kaiji on there. Almost nobody talks about that show. An easy 10/10. Also it feels like the others were tryharding to put shows on their lists that most people wouldn't think of, meanwhile Connor just went with 9 shows he loved, without putting too much thought into it, which honestly makes his list more genuine.
I love how in every single episode, Joey and Garnt are the two oversophisticated weebs either fighting with each other or ganging up on Connor who just represents the common folk liking to put in some good anime every once in a while.

Odda has straight up admitted that when he starts an arc he knows how it will end. But as he writes it, characters and situations will develop that he didnt think he would enjoy expanding. He ends up writing alot more for those arcs. Thats why dresrosa was so long. He also ties everything up really well. Mans a legend

Honestly watching this again, Connor was given an L by 2 anitube veterans not properly explaining the game to him. Seriously props to him for sticking to his guns and defending the choices despite this. They really could have done better pointing out that it isn't about an anime being good, just personally influential shows/movies. It's clear that they had an understanding like that going in, but Connor was stuck on 9 best animes in their opinion. I could have seriously seen Connor pulling out a joke all Jojo 3x3 intially given how he talked during the episode.

Okay, sound editing nerd here- I've just gotten into editing my own videos, and the degree of skill Trash Taste shows is phenomenal. Like, I'm watching lips and counting- tongue click, tongue click, breath- totally silent in broadcast. Connor adjusts his mic at one point mid sentence and the levels stay dead consistent throughout. Hats off to whoever is in charge of all that.

MHA is just a very mid show, season 1 was ok, season 2 was weak and honestly very boring, season 3 had the same issue, I didn't even bother watching season 4 because there wasn't a single character I gave a shit about I didn't like or love a single character from the series.
It was all just a meh series to me.
I liked season 3, kinda ig. Season 2 sucked if you actually seen the fights, some literally lasted 30 seconds.
But I think its way more fun to pick a favourite character and just follow through it through the series. I picked Tokoyami and was pleasantly surprised in season 3.

7 out of 10 is an anime that's rewatchable and good enough to own. It's a compliment on my list. Some anime I've gone to rewatch end up with lower scores sometimes. It sucks but it happens. Negima's second anime is victim to this. I liked it but found the jokes fell flat and studio shaft made a bonkers story of their own that had a few pointless bs episodes before actually attempting anything resembling a plot. I'm still a bit bitter lol.

Watching Garnt stick to his guns on Oreimo was amazing. Man has solid points.
I feel like we have to take into account that most of the Western human population has a kneejerk reaction of disgust to incest themes. Personally it's something I enjoy in my media, and I felt Oreimo is one of the best we've got when it comes to this despite its faults (most of which weren't the author's fault, and came about through the publishers shutting him down), but even a degenerate like me can't reasonably expect most people to judge the show and LN fairly. Honest-to-god incest is just one of those things that people from the West often can't handle.
