I bought two of these knives, one for me, and one for my hunting buddy. We love them. I used mine for field dressing, skinning, and butchering a deer I harvested this year. Thank you.
I have 6 of the Smaller ones ranging from the middle 1970s to 2020... So what? 45 years of so of using the smaller ones. 2 Of these Bigger ones arrived Yesterday! Wow! Finally! A Sharpfinger made for my 6'2'' Gigantic Manpaws!!! I have ALWAYS had at least 2 with me, 1 on you belt, and an extra in my pack when camping or hunting! SWEET! I had no Idea that these existed! I Can't wait for Next year!
I love those knives!! I have all the original Old Timers when the steel was US made steel. I have the big deer slayer, sharp finger and the drop point.
I have the regular Sharpfinger and it has always been the most favourite of all my knives. I have also had it the longest. My uncle gave one to me and one to my brother for helping through the haying season. Perfect payment for endless hours of a 12 year old pitching bales of hay. It has become the centre piece of my collection. Now this one comes along. It will make my collection some time soon. I love it.
I have an old Sharp Finger from about 40 years ago. "Sharp" is a good descriptor. That tip is so sharp that one day I was done using it and put it back into the sheath and felt something prick my leg. I had put the tip right through the back of the sheath and into my leg and never felt any resistance as the knife penetrated the leather.
I have one of these knives , was my uncles he carried it hunting for as far back as my memory can recall at least 30 years. I use it for skinning big game it holds a razors edge and I must admit whatever he paid for it , it was well worth it.
Probably so , I remember him carrying it as far back as the late 1970's , the blade is Carbon steel for it will rust it not kept lightly oiled. The blade is only stamped Schrade then the model number.
Took a little extra calibration on the first test huh. Testing target filled with fluid, great idea. Keeping it state of the art as always! Sweet knife, cool video!
I found a pair of the US made 70s vintage ones with the small one for $80, and love em. I had a small one years ago and was disappointed to see that they're making them in China now, which is basically disposable garbage and was really lucky to find them 💩
Say Heah Brian, I have a Schrade Scrimshaw SharpFinger, and a DeerSlayer, both made in the U. S. A. but I git a SharpFinger with a Guthook that's a more recent Schrade, I think the plastic handles are called Derlin.
I read that the SharpFinger was Sony Berger Fav to carry, If it's good enough for him, It's good enough for me zoom, zoom. But seriously, My DeerSlayer which is a much larger knife than the SharpFinger, But the same exact style, It's one of my Fav's from back then knives, It was used alot and served me well on alot of camp outs. It's really a good one, Back then the steel was 0170-6C which is the 1095 CroVan, That's why I'm always saying "I wish they used the CroVan instead of the plain 1095" , Those knives were awesome, You should see how sharp my DeerSlayer still is and always ready to serve. Infact just about all the carbon blades used that steel, I have Westerns and Camillus, Ka-Bar in that steel, That's why for the life of it, Why don't they use it anymore ? Infact Cold Steel U. S. A. made knives were Camillus made under the CarbonV, It's not that expensive, But holds a edge like no mannyanna.
Love your videos!! Very polite and humble! Keep it up. ONE QUESTION: HAVE YOU DONE A REVIEW ON THE SCH503B FOLDER? I would love to see what people think before I buy it. Thanks for all your reviews!!
Hey Brian, would you mind doing a video to compare the original and the large sharp finger side by side? I love the style but I'm not sure which size to get.
Brian I've always used a big blade, a very plain but beefy 10" spear point knife, but I'm going to give a small blade a shot and it's down to this or the schf56L and I would be very interested in your opinion on which of the two would be a better light use companion knife for outdoor/bushcrafty type stuff or if you have another suggestion in this price range. I'm on a fixed income and super tight budget so getting both is unfortunately out of the question. Thanks for your time and for your great videos. Keep on batoning!
I have two of their fixed blade knives and one of their folding knives and like them very much. I don't have that particular model, but some in the same family though. Their knives are nice, but made in China and I wish they was American made though.
If you're deer hunting and that's the blade you have when a cold front you didn't expect blows in you have a chance I reckon. I keep this other thing in my pocket though it has a really sharp spine and some lighter fluid....
Love the Sharpfinger! Have it in brown, orange, and 2014 collectors edition ( one to use and one in the tin. I too wish they would do it in a carbon steel, but the stainless works! Great hunting, camp and fishing knife! NowI will have to get the large to add to my collection! Thanks Bryan for sharing!
I HATE the handle material. the cr13mov or whatever it is didn't hold up very good either. then again I was batoning a skinning knife but seriously it's full tang so why not?!? my Mora holds up better than that thing did. maybe that's different but they'd have to change the handle material first :)
+TheGrizzlyHillbilly honestly, I try to keep my personal FB for family stuff. I wish I could comment and message people through my Survival On Purpose page.
I haven’t needed to find any in quite a while. I just pick up the piece I’ve had laying on the ground for the last 4 or 5 years. ;-). I’ll see what I can do.
+Jameson Dancy if Taylor brands had not done that when they bought the rights after the original company went out of business in these designs might have been lost forever.
Sorry Brian but I'm not impressed with this knife. Found one laying in a yard some time back and after cleaning and sharpening I tossed it into a drawer with my other junk knives. (one man's junk is another man's joy) I would like to ask about survival/camping/etc. for senior citizens if you have time to share with me. I'm 70 but still love the outdoors even though this body is less than perfect. Tks,,,MikeC

It's a classic design
I’ve been carrying mine for about 31 years. Because of the point, it works great as a skinner and caping knife. Great I’d. 🤙
Cool
I had the smaller one when I was young... glad to see them make a larger version.
+Roy Fernbach it's a classic

+Wheels gone Wild cool story
wow! great review. schrade has made the small sharp finger for 50 years and I still have mine from the 1970's. great design
+40belowful yes it is.

I've got the smaller on the 152 OT. Holds a great edge and it's just the right size for small game up to White Tail Deer. Can't beat one.
+Scott Hill it is a classic

Yours is probably a Made in the USA classic
Probably so , I remember him carrying it as far back as the late 1970's , the blade is Carbon steel for it will rust it not kept lightly oiled. The blade is only stamped Schrade then the model number.
Very cool knife. The smaller version was my hunting partners knife back in my hunting days.
+TraditionalBlackPowder it is a classic
I’ve got a 152ot and a 152otl and they are both my favorite knives
the sharpfinger is one of my fav knives! i now need this one haha
+TAC-HILL of course you do
Those are really very good knives. They been around for a long time. And you can't beat the price.
+hillbillybushcraft true
I use the heck out of mine. Especially, on vacation. I don't care if I loose it, and it works for about anything.
How did I not know they had this larger version? Thanks for the heads up Bryan!
+Charles Collier I don't know
Just got one open box for 16$. Super nice for that money. I hope they make a generational large sharpfinger!
Took a little extra calibration on the first test huh. Testing target filled with fluid, great idea. Keeping it state of the art as always!
Sweet knife, cool video!
+cwthemachinist sometimes it does.

Love this blade design and how the handle fits my hand. This is a sweet sweet knife.
Indeed.
I'm having a custom one made from 5160 spring steel with african blackwood scales and copper pins. love the design.
Cool
Great work, great budget knife! Have you thought about reviewing the 15ot deerslayer? Would love to see that.
I have the shorter one and it makes a really good edc knife.Since its cheap i aint afraid to beat on it like a more expensive one.
+John Harmon there you go
Not sure why I'm watching this, I own 2 of them. I guess it's because I thoroughly enjoy Brian's channel. Keep it up buddy.
Liam Ireland Thanks
Good job Bud. Thanks Bryan.
+RDLaw88 thanks
Nice !! I've had the small one maybe 30 years ?? great knife for sure !!
+Ray Walter I hear that all the time about that knife.
I know it's super cheap, but since I got my Sharpfinger three years ago I've treated it like a BABY. Good to see it has sturdiness to it.
another knife for my collection, good stuff brother.
+Wil Standridge thanks
just ordered it, thanks for the review.
+trustno1one11 thanks
OMG that is a sweet blade!
I agree
I have this knife and I love it!!! Great sheath too!!!
Yep

That is one cool looking knife.
+AAQsR I agree
Is there a small sharp finger and a large one? I wanna get one for Christmas and don’t wanna end up getting the wrong sized knife

I think the SCHF56L is the best choice for an all round budget bushcraft style knife, I really like that knife
thank you sir, I am going to get the56l, that one even sorta looks like the big blade I'm pairing it with.
great review
Thanks
That sounds good, but I would like to see a carbon version brought back.
+Matthew Jeffres that would be great
wow it is so cool
+Ali Ali yep
What a way to break that thin tip
and yet...
I have used the smaller knives for a very long time
Awesome!!
+The_kid ;-)
looks excatly like Condor skinner but with a different handle
+ChrissTheBurnedOne or vice versa
How do they measure a blade length ?
With a ruler? Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
I have two of their fixed blade knives and one of their folding knives and like them very much. I don't have that particular model, but some in the same family though. Their knives are nice, but made in China and I wish they was American made though.
You put more holes in the tree than Woody the woodpecker. Did I just date myself? Thanks for another great video.
+Bill Fisher I remember watching Woody before a movie. Now it's 45 minutes of ads

Too bad Schrade went the cheap China production route with these great classic designs, sad...thanks for the review though

Don't be sorry ;-) As for senior citizen stuff, I guess I'd say whatever makes things easier would help. Lighter weight is always good.
