Always loved that knife, had one i carried inside tackle box for years. Skinned squirrel and many trout bream perch catfish crappie and bass . Never had to sharpen it only used a strop to keep the edge good. Made a great salami and cheese cutter having lunch when fishing on the lake.

You could cut up a chicken or a pork shoulder.
I have one these I bought around 1985. They used to be full flat grind. With 3/16" thick tang. They used to have delrin handle scales. I replaced mine 10 years ago when they got a little melted. I put some black micarta on it with brass pins. The old ones had a nice square spine.
I've never used mine for skinning. Just a general use field knife.

Brain, I know that this is 6 months old, but so glad to hear they are being made in the USA!!!! I have that Sharp Finger, the Drop Point and the Deer Slayer from over 40 years ago from the original Schrade/Old Timer/Uncle Henry. I hated to bad that they went out of business and then another company bought the rights and started having them made in China. I had heard from someone when I posted my video about a month ago showing my Old Timer and Uncle Henry collection. Of course, mine have been used and I retired them after the original company went out of business. I am going to have to look this company up and see what they have now. I wonder, do they still come with a Lifetime Warranty? Thanks for your review. Juddie - J & J TOA

Nice little skinner. Seeing how you like the smell of fat wood, did you know you can make incense from pine resin found on pine trees? One way is to take an old spoon, put a piece of resin in it, hold it over a candle until it melts and produces a little vapor and it smells good. They make little candle burners that do the same thing with what you put in them to use as incense.

This is the first of your videos that I really didn’t like.
Because of the thick blade stock and the many curves of the blade it would have been nice to see you skinning something or at least get your impression of how the knife works after using it as a skinning/field use knife. I’ve seen the knife on Amazon and if it only functions well as a “skinner” then it’s not worth the $60.00, I already have the old timer “improved muskrat” 2 blade folder and two 5inch folding hunter knives that I use for skinning and quartering deer, is the sharp finger better or worse than other vintage knife patterns for dressing game??

Old timer / Schrade are owned by Taylor Knife Co. which is now known as Taylor Brands. They own Schrade, Old Timer, Uncle Henry, and Imperial; and Taylor Brands was purchased by Smith and Wesson. So Smith and Wesson makes all of these knives now. I doubt they are having the American made ones contracted out to anyone considering they own so many damn knife companies now.

Wanted to let fellow knife nuts know of an experience I had with Old timer. I sent a couple emails for a directions to send a knife in under warranty. No response, so I printed return form and sent in knife with filled form. Three weeks went by so I sent an email to see if they recieved (tracking showed they did) nothing, over next few weeks I sent a couple more emails, nothing. So I put it to the back of my mind. Yesterday, my knife was left at my house, opened box and my knife i sent was in box, with notning else, not repaired, no paperwork, explanation....nothing. it has vertical blade play in open position, so when you cut the blade moves under use, both blades, knife is a 94otb, bone series. So no, I will be skipping on the generational series until they get their act together. And I buy alot of knives, and influence many others on knife purchases. Fail, American outdoor brands (oldtimer)

Had one for over twenty years. Decent skinner, useful utility, but the sheath is not secure at all. The box shape of the front of the sheath is hard and way too wide, and it does not grip the blade or the handle. Foolish design, but pretty, I guess.
