First time a saw a megalo, it was exactly there on ragnorak. Had no idea what I was looking at but I know a predator when I see one. So I pumped it full of tranq and tamed it up, and when I tried to ride it it just fell asleep right under me. Five minutes of research told me why Lmao.

Hey, I have a funny story about my first encounter with one! So, I was actually on that same beach you started at *in the video,* with my T-Rex, named Winter, and my dodo, named Rex. Anyway, I was going up the hill and saw a floating dinosaur that looked like it was asleep. At first, I was confused, but whistled my tames to be passive, because a part of me thought, "Cool, Free tame!". So, I started shooting sleepy arrows into its butt until it woke up with a roar and started charging me. But, just before it got to me, it knocked out! It ended up being a level 24, and once it woke up [as my newest dino boi of course~], I named Her "Naps" [yes, original, I know]. But what I had NO IDEA about, was the saddle I needed. Apparently, the saddle for the dinosaur has an "c" instead of an "s", so when I tried putting the saddle on, _nothing happened!_ I'm was sad, but once I found out that I could make the Naps sleep, my life was completely. They looked so cute XD Hope you liked my story [Liked as in thought it was cool, I'm not like those people to fish for likes. I ain't about that life .v.]

I personally don’t use bio toxin, I use toxi-bion for my tranquilizing shock darts! Shocking tranq darts, on the other hand, I agree require bio toxin. 👍🏻
Good to know that about them spawning near Viking bay now.... after my first encounter with one that killed a 150 Trike on my 3rd attempt at taming it. I'd gotten it down and it got, hit, so I let it get up and heal before knocking it down again. Put a taming pen around it, gets up and I knocked it down again only for my Saber to agro on it as soon as I jumped off (rookie mistake) got it up a 2nd time, let it heal up, and knocked it down again. Was at 90% and a megalo dropped into the pen from the cliff above. My sabers survived the encounter but all that was left of the trike was pile of mejos.
South East section of Sanctuary on extinction is where those Dino Doughnuts are. I decided to make them my near by targets after an incident with them as well as kapros. They are the "Bad Touch" combo. Nothing like getting your mount yanked from under you by a megalosaurus and getting yeeted off the nearby cliff by a kapro.
Love these guys on aberration. Fluffy, happy, well rested, and filled with murderous intent. Plus all you need to tame 1 is a tree and a club... Least that's how I got mine.... Also idk about you guys but dinos with short feathers are like always some of my favorite to use. Namely morellas and megas on scorched and aberration respectively. It's only true for 1/2 of the story arms but still, half is a good amount...
I was on ragnarok and found one sleeping and made a stone trap and all I used to knock it out was a bow and trank arrows and I fed it just raw meat and it did not take long to tame at all
Just found 2 of these guys in my first cave on fioudur (however you spell). Tamed an aberrant variant and I love it. Only was a lvl 95 but she’s cute haha
3:15 omfg thats why there was a megalosaurus on my beach i mean i wont complain, i did lose a parasaur and a trike (which did end up encouraging me to get much higher level dinos, so i think thats a good thing) but when day came i ended up making a trap and taming it, wasn't particularly high level but i did manage to tame it probably when i was like 20 levels away from the megalosaurus saddle engram
Wow, on my very first Megalosaurus encounter, I just found another taming method by mistake! Was on Akirah (my best Ravager), trying to lead the Megalosaurus into the taming pen, but let it get too close and it snatched Akirah out from under me! Luckily, Akirah is level 236, fully imprinted, mate-boosted, with super high health, and I had him on Passive for the taming process. So while the Megalosaurus was holding onto Akirah and trying in vain to eat him, I just pelted it with shocking tranq darts until it fell asleep! Woohoo! A bit scary, but effective! (Edit: I realized it wasn't my very FIRST encounter, as I do remember seeing a couple of them in a cave or 2 on The Island, but they were rare and not very high level so my OP Thylacoleo was able to eat them pretty quickly.)
Tamed a lvl 7 Megalosaurus (Bow & Tranq Arrows) on Ragnarok this morning with no prior familiarity or knowledge of this dinosaur so, essentially, learned everything you just said the hard way. One thing you forgot to mention, if you force them to work during the day then they'll soon fall unconscious and are out of commission for almost an hour real time!
Also repeat a two day taming cycle. Knock it out the first day, knock it out at night, wake him up with stims as soon as the morning kicks in, KO him again, pretty much insta tame.
When people say things like “a thylo won’t fit”, my question is, can you Cryo it, and then throw it out once inside the cave past where it couldn’t fit?
i really think you deserve more followers you make very good content that’s informative and funny and you make videos for beginners that have no clue what they’re doing when I first started ark i didn’t even know that you have to make a taming pin for dinos.
I really hope they have more of a role in Extinction than they do on the island and Ragnarok because these guys are just so cool and I don’t play on Aberration anymore.
I think they missed an opportunity on Extinction to at least let your Aberrant Megalos to be always awake in the Sunken Forest if you transfer them to the map rather than have normal sleep cycles like they do above ground even though it is day all the time on the map technically.
Funny story on ragnorock Viking Beach two I Just finished building my thatch base and when it turned night time I wanted to explore a bit longer when I saw it in the dark I thought it was another one of the friendly creatures but it noticed me and Chased me back to my base I hid in my thatch hut hoping I was hidden and safe but yeah...as you can probably tell That didn't end well
My second tame (after a dilo) on my first time playing ragnarok was a 130 Mega, I kited it to a trap during the day and knocked it out almost dying trying in the process, I thought it was going well till the first night and the next 3 nights and days I spent desperately trying to make more narcotic and tranq arrows at my base down the beach picking berries by hand, I almost killed it but barely managed to starve it down enough for prime from a low level argy with a sliver of hp. Only a 130 but at night I swear it would still beat my 145 giga in a 1v1, those things are absolutely savage.
Luckily I've never seen one of those on scorched earth during my solo playthrough but once I transferred to aberration I had a very shocking surprise out of nowhere when it almost got my raptor 🤣

The megalosaurs I've seen on Ragnarok don't wander, they just stand still forever, and several of them have even been standing around during the day. What could be wrong with their AI?
My tribe mates just tamed a tapejara and all three of them where chilling with the tap when a level 50 megalosaur came picked the tapejara they just tamed out mid air, and killed all the three of them in the same place. Yeah, I remember why we dont go out at night.
I found this to be a quick and easy tame raw prime is the fastest way to tame it I also have my night speed at 0.4 and my day speed at 0.1 it takes hours real time for 1 day night cycle to pass so if u trank it around the time it wakes up u will have it before morning

I once brought my parasaur over to the big cover thing in Vikings bay and I saw one of these guys and he killed my parasaur so I brought some tranq arrows and flipping tamed that thing.
I just found a bunch on the outside part of the city on the right bottom side..between the snow and dessert biomes..theres a lower level of the city you can get to there that has frogs, sarcos, kapros, scouts, and a ton of megalosaurus!
So from what i see people use Rexs for the tek cave. But the down side the Rexs fall off into the lava. So I'm breeding these mini Rexs to see if the size will make a difference.
So I do this thing where I take a small creature and breed it’s health way up... and use it to face tank Megalosaurus while I tranq them. It’s a safety precaution. 😂

When he says their rare, he means it. I’ve only found 1 in all of my ark caving. It was a lvl 100 (max level for my world is 120)
On official they are more common since the server is like 6000 days old so it has already spawned them, mostly in caves tho

I have been in the chitin cave numerous times on the island and I've never seen one of these guys. Makes me wonder if they were disabled.

If he's in a net right before 20:20 hits and you knock him out before night hits he will stay asleep with sleep debt and tame up easily at night

You can get a thyla in this cave you just need to cryo it until you get past the point were it doesn't fit and uncryo, there's no risk either

I once brought my parasaur over to the big cover thing in Vikings bay and I saw one of these guys and he killed my parasaur so I brought some tranq arrows and flipping tamed that thing.
I was walking around aberration and I saw one walking around and I knocked it out with a slingshot because it got stuck on a rock
Can someone explain more detailed on why you need to knock him out twice and has to starve it?

I just found a bunch on the outside part of the city on the right bottom side..between the snow and dessert biomes..theres a lower level of the city you can get to there that has frogs, sarcos, kapros, scouts, and a ton of megalosaurus!

Hey cool thing. If you enter the spawn commands you can replace the normal creatures with aberrant
So from what i see people use Rexs for the tek cave. But the down side the Rexs fall off into the lava. So I'm breeding these mini Rexs to see if the size will make a difference.

So I do this thing where I take a small creature and breed it’s health way up... and use it to face tank Megalosaurus while I tranq them. It’s a safety precaution. 😂
