    Z840 is still a valid choice by end of 2023. It took me a few hours to make my mind and a few days to find a good offer. I just bought it today. I am eager to unbox it and in the meanwhile looked at videos, hence I find yours. I share your enthusiasm and thank you for discovering, thanks to you, features that I didn't about.

      I own one too, I installed a couple of X5690 CPU's but I am using it for plotting and mining, it kind of falls behind compared to my newer Lenovo C30 workstations in terms of H/s but for what I paid I can't complain.

    Great video Jorge! My story began a couple of weeks ago when I helped my sister revive her old Z800. I was super impress with that computer. So I began researching and found your video. I'm now the proud owner (1 week) of a Z840 and agree with some of the users that this is best computer I've ever owned. Cheers from the San Francisco Bay Area.

    I have a GTX 1080ti (8 inch version) in my Z800 and it works great with 1100 power supply. Curious what cards people have tried in their Z840. I think 12inches is possible in these chassis but I haven't tried one of that length.
    Anyone?

      @stevietee3878 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm running a dual processor Z840 with a RTX 3080 TI installed, with no problems, you just need the correct power adaptors for the graphics card. I've also installed a Z Turbo drive Quad Pro with 4 NVME. M.2 drives inside as RAID for fast writes for video prodction, that is the same physical length as the RTX 3080 TI. I have my OS on another (single) Z Turbo drive NVME M.2. And 256 Gb of RAM. The thing is a beast and it flies.

      @JorgeMoralesAv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Erik, actually this is a very good question. What problem do you have exactly now? a CPU node with more cores than the other one? try deactivating hyperthreading, an NUMA disable. Restart, you will se only the physical cores. Restart, activate Hyperthreading and enable NUMA. That should work, and the task manager should recognize al physical cores and virtual threads, and the same amount of cores for each Node.

    • @JorgeMoralesAv
      @JorgeMoralesAv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Simone, yes it is possible, you can connect up to 3 P6000. You will need a Y-Splitter (6 pin to Dual 8 Pin). This workstation has a very high quality gauge. Officially from HP, each 6 pin cable support up to 250W. In my experience, i used to have two 3070 founder edition + 1 Quadro K6000 at the same time and 100% usage. Thanks for watching!

      PCIE 16x [P6000]
      PCIE 8x [EMPTY]
      PCIE16x [P6000]
      Now I would need to be able to SLI link them together.

    Hey dude did you know why the 970 EVO Plus is not recognized in this Workstation?

    • @JorgeMoralesAv
      @JorgeMoralesAv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Paco, as far all the graphics card that i tried on this workstation, everything works. But, when i had problems to recognize a GPU is because the slot configuration in which is attached. Do you have 1 or 2 CPUs? if you know for sure that the 970 is working on another system, then is just the slot configuration on your machine. They are slots that are for the CPU 0 and some for the CPU1, and, some of them, depending on the configuration, will not give you video signal. This is because the HP Z840 was kind of designed in mind of usage with TESLA Accelerators, and the PCIe configuration is kind of tricky at the beginning. I hope it helps and thanks for watching!

    The Hp Z stations are beasts in specs but for nowadays standards they are becoming obsolete....the cores counts is not the only thing to base your hopes on cause most softwares need higher CPU frequency take After effects for example even in 3D the number of cores will certainly help reduce rendering time but for modeling and viewport fast rendering the higher CPU frequency you have the smother your work will be .... i was naive to think that My Hp z640 with 56 core can be the right choice in 2020 and i was wrong now i'm stuck with a machine that coast me 1200 dollars with mediocre performance on a wide range of softwares....i wont recommend buying it unless you need it for a specific task that will use all raw power and all it CPU cores
