About NYT Cooking:
All the food that’s fit to eat (yes, it’s an official New York Times production).
The fact that they're doing all this in an hour while narrating it is so impressive!
Make Sohla and Ham an Iron Chef duo!
I think to some extend it may be helpful to narrate this. Potentially makes it easier to stay focused
We just witnessed two people open a Michelin star restaurant in one hour. Tweak this and that, get some more tables, and I’m gonna be lined up to eat!
And they had to wash some dishes meanwhile 👌
This is easily my favorite episode so far. Not only did their creativity just explode over all the possibilities, but it really broke away from the "Ham does the dinner and Sohla does the dessert" pattern. This is full last-minute-high-school-project mode right here.
I also like that they had someone else taste their food and just slump over in foodgasm. I think theyre so technically gifted that they just critique
The fun bit was how they came up with a theme for themselves. Peanut butter could be a normal episode, but the PBJ angle was really creative.
Last minute high school project that somehow managed to score higher than that group over there that started working on theirs a week prior.
Yeah, this was reaaallly inspired. Like the ideas just pile on each other spontaneously. I’m a third of the way tho, so I’m not sure yet if they succeed lol
I want a never ending season of this. Sohla and Ham are the best!!!
Yes! 1 million episodes please.
I imagine them in their 90s, barely able to move, and still doing this, just maybe a 2 hour limit instead of 1.
forreal! its like they were made for this type of show
There were made for each other
these two are SUCH a joy to watch, I would love to see many many more episodes of Ham and Sohla just vibin together and being creative and bouncing ideas off of each other :')
I'm so glad they decided to go with this format. I think after season one with Sohla going over time but also using Ham every episode, they gave this a shot and it was money. Like you said they're fun to watch, and they like to take thing completely over the top and it's hilarious.
@@savingpyro
Yeah their relationship really feels like "I married my best friend" lol
Yes but vegan because now a days I feel like meat is a cheat in the creative process of food these days, kinda like a shortcut of deliciousness and would be for of a challenge for sure. A great learning experience at the least?
OMG please give me more of these two! Haha. To see them brainstorm is life.
@@savingpyro There's a production team that knows what people want.
Sohla calling raisins 'later grapes' was so entertaining. Love watching this duo in action!
"I felt very supported by you" - aw man, Ham is so lovely!
The fact that this is the first episode where Sohla and Ham seemed remotely stressed or really pushed for time shows just how incredibly talented they are.
Never stressed.
They weren’t even stressed in the gingerbread competition! Ham went home to walk their dogs halfway 😂 They are so talented and skilled. I always imagined this is how people trained for those Iron Chef or MasterChef competitions.
There's something really cool about seeing people who are really good at their jobs, just showcase their skills. The talent and creativity of these two are amazing. To make so many dishes, that looked really good and might actually taste well in such a short space of time is mind-boggling. I don't know what else to say about them, except I hope to get a invite to dinner from them one day 😁
For sure! That's how I feel about watching professional ballerinas and gymnasts too.
Keys to great tasting menu: "Everything needs to look a little bit stupid and really pretentious, and everyone's hungry at the end." 😂
The classic move after enjoying a tasting menu on a special occasion is to hit up the drive through on the way home still in your formal wear.
She's not wrong! The one time I did a taste menu thing, I ended up going through a Taco Bell drive-thru on my way home.
It's a funny quote but I feel like the hungry part usually isn't true unless you skipped a meal in preparation for it or something.
Like yeah, each course is tiny and they're stretched over a pretty long period of time, but they're also likely a lot richer than what you'd normally eat and when you're talking about 12 courses it tends to be a lot, sometimes even too much.
Now that's what I call fancy.
reminds me of a really fancy chinese banquet where you end with a big bowl of rice or noodles to fill up at the end. i think tasting menus could take a page out of that book and give you a heap of fries or something to load up on
I think my favorite part was the beginning where they were bouncing ideas off of each other. You can see how much food excites them. But my actual favorite part was watching them cook together in such perfect harmony. And also my favorite part was when they debriefed at the end and gave each other sweet compliments. This is an excellent series!
Over the last couple of years of watching sohla and thinking, “her husband has to be awesome because she is such a vibe” and I’m so happy Ham has gotten some air time because he is such a vibe too
And the two of them together are a double vibe.
@@vigilantcosmicpenguin8721 An ultra vibe if you will.
@@PandaBearNead a resonance.
An interference pattern
I love how Sohla just casually mentions she has a peanut allergy at the end!!
I too have a tiny peanut allergy, would still eat this meal
i have a minor peanut allergy too, but might risk hives for a few days to eat a peanut butter tasting by these two. 😅
@@parkersweeney6891 Would you have to use an epi pen afterwards? Or just feel gross for awhile until it wears off?
@@videoket No epi pen, but would have messed up my energy and digestion. Maybe given me throat/tongue irritation. I'm more allergic to mango, no epi pen, but will give me itchy throat/tongue immediately. Naked swapped their green juice blend and I knew after the first sip, massive mouth/ back of the tongue irritation.
@@parkersweeney6891 i just have a peanut intolerence. So heartburn and nausea, not hives and itching. Would definitely be worth it.
this series brings me SO much joy to watch. Sohla is so fun to watch on her own, but watching her and Ham bounce ideas off each other and get really excited about every creative foodie adventure is just like a big warm hug
And love each other! Seeing them work together is so cozy and fun
i LOVE how they really lean in to the challenges!!!! like sometimes i feel when people do challenges like this they really try to 'get around it' in some way - like when rie does 'make it fancy', sometimes it feels like its a lot of other ingredients to hide the thing she's making fancy. but here they're just like. this is PEANUT BUTTER. they really highlight that it's peanut butter and they are INSANE and make five courses instead of two. i LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!
Not leaning would be boring to watch. Sohla and Ham have energy and talent that makes this amazing to watch. And being able to eye ball a lot of this stuff? WOW!
I feel like their restaurant experience really came through in this one, with the sounding off and just the sheer level of multitasking going on. Really great!
I have learned throughout this series chefs are seriously efficient, fast, wizards of multitasking and speed! Holy cow that's hard work!
@@evercuriousmichelle I wish more people got a look inside of a well trained restaurant kitchen. These two give a great example of it, but it goes beyond that. Because they are only working on "one ticket" (aka one table), the communication is just about that one ticket. But when you have multiple tickets and multiple stations (aka grill, sautee, fryer, garde manger, etc), you have to memorize what each of them say about the tickets you are working on so everything is timed correctly. No good kitchen wants to serve food that's had to sit waiting under the heat lamp because somebody messed up their timing.
This series has made me realize that no one else from the BA kitchen could do this.
No lies detected
They could
Brad could...but these two are way more entertaining.
@@bonnafide2606 brad would make a balcony fried sandwich and call it a day
@@ellendeg303 possibly 😆
This show is so good yall better keep giving sohla and ham their coin for this magic!!!
After the Bon Appetit debacle, I'm sure their contract with the New York Times is air-tight
I loved the closed feedback loop communications they used to accomplish this.all the other episodes were casual and fun. This is the first time we have gotten to see them interact and perform as commercial chefs. It was eye opening (in a good way).
I love this show because it really showcases the skills of both these chefs whilst tapping into their creativity. The perfect package, I can’t express how talented these individuals are.
I'm so glad the producers and everyone involved were smart enough to say 'Hey, this works better. Let's bring Ham into it.' Honestly, I love these two together.
Those baby eggplants make me want to cry from how cute they are
❤
This has been the best episode by far- seeing what makes Ham and Sohla tick as a couple and the way that communication translates on a professional level was such a joy!
the fact that sohla and ham exist and are able to do shit like this is just absurd. like wtf. how are you real people? these two are a delight
This hit like 24 straight minutes of Sohla and Ham speaking in their primary love language. More of this please!
Sohla: “It’s a delicate balance”
Also Sohla: *measures sugar with hands
I guarantee she can measure more precisely with her hands than you can with a cup.
Ham: “we won’t be ahh like hanging out and having cocktails in the middle of this” …
Sohla: “should we make a peanut butter cocktail if there’s time” …
**both get excited** 😆😆😆
BESSSST IDEA!! 🍸✨🥜
They did not have to go this hard, they could have easily stuck to the 3 course formula, but that's the kind of people they are, and I think that is so cool.
The serene chaos of these two brings me so much joy and I need more.
Serene Chaos is so accurate lmao, serene chaos wrapped in a warm chocolatey hug.
This is by far the most elevated food video I’ve ever seen on the tubes. Sohla and Ham are themselves are the epitome of symbiotic food pairing.
Just trying to imagine how productive I could be if the two halves of my brain communicated as well as Sohla and Ham do
I love how Sohla and Ham explain things so well while cooking so masterfully and being so kind to each other - while also keeping the atmosphere lighthearted and fun. Also, they're both so humble and sweet and talented. They're the true definition of a dream team 🙌🏽
This was beautifully written! My God 🥲 and sooo accurate.
This is insane. How the hell did they do all of that in an hour?? This was amazing to watch, i’m in complete awe.
The end... I could FEEL the love and support through my screen!
"I have a tiny, tiny peanut allergy..." Good gravy! I loved the formal presentation at the end. I would have been raising my hand to be on the receiving end of their effort. Like everyone else who watches these, I love the way they work together. So respectful, supportive, and appreciative of one another.
"I felt very supported by you." So wholesome. Too many feelings. 😢♥
This series is unadulterated joy. Just a couple of food geniuses having a good time. Love it
I cook for a living and always watch these two with my jaw dropped. They are so amazing at what they do. I love the addition of Ham to these videos. Great stuff!! Thank you NYT.
I love how they’re like speaking the exact same haute cuisine trolling language…. Is their love language food trolling ?
They admit it’s stupid but are really knowledgeable and have a lot of respect for it at the same time
@@Steveofthejungle8 literally it’s the cutest , it’s like watching them speak a secret language
😂
You guys are the best. Nyt hold on to this show
I feel like there should always be a taster. Its so fun watching Ham and Sohla create such off the wall dishes and someone else getting to actually enjoy the product of their genius.
This sounds so much like surgeons in an operation, giving progress to each other! I feel like we need a cookbook of rough recipes at some point. All these efforts are something to celebrate. Always fun and great!
this was incredible, I can't believe how talented they both are like they really said let's show everyone what we can do on this one, and I really appreciate seeing them conceptualize this incredible menu out of nothing! the respect they have for each other is just goals 😩
Maddddd skills
This was amazing. My favourite episode of the series by a long shot. They are just the sweetest couple, amazingly talented and creative cooks, and a spectacular menu, even if there had not been a time limit. Within an hour is just superhuman. Loved every minute of it!
best comment! exactly my thoughts
16:29 “blender” “thank you blender!” My theatre kid heart enjoyed this.
the range and the knowledge these two have is INSANE
This episode was thrilling and their chemistry as a couple is just goals
This is my favorite Sohla show now. I love all of Sohla’s shows, but the teamwork between Sohla and Ham, their positive energy, their creativity, it’s so joyful. Thanks for letting us see a slice of your relationship and, of course, insane cooking skills.
Cannot express how much I’ve been enjoying this dream team tackling the series. Always loved how Ham would be contributing when Sohla was doing her solo challenges.
Oh my god both of you are geniuses. This is my favourite cooking series ever.
Watching these two cook together is like watching a dance or a symphony performance. This is wonderful, please give us more of this!
Can we please please PLEASE have more of these? Sohla and Ham together are a pure joy!
RE: The Martini - I once bought a peanut butter flavored bourbon and mixed it with grape juice. Easily the best cocktail I've ever had.
. . . I wonder if it would be possible to make peanut butter washed bourbon
Last time I saw sohla was in a BA video and honestly I love that she’s just totally blossoming here and really showcasing the talent she’s always had
Their energy is marvellous. Chill, yet focussed, uplifting, confident in each other. Beautiful!
Looking at Ham and Sola brainstorm ideas together and work so well as a team inspires me so much
I love their dynamics as chefs and as husband and wife. Love this show 💞
These two are the most uplifting, positive people! They keep "yes, and-ing" each other and it's so fun to watch! Thank you!
This show is why I subscribed. I am learning so much. Every show there’s a new technique that I never knew about. Amazing!
This was insane.what they have accomplished in an hour is legit extremely difficult. Their sheer talent is showing there.
Binge watching these... Absolutely love how you two work together, feed off each other's ideas, and get excited about it!
Sohla risking anaphylaxis for our entertainment makes me feel loved unconditionally
So glad they got a “regular person” to taste test. I’d imagine everything is delicious even when it’s not perfect - and that was confirmed.
This is the most oddly compelling food show I’ve seen in a long time. What original minds!
“i couldn’t have done it without you” 🥺🥺🥺 this is the best show on all of youtube!!
You two are the cutest ❤️ I love Sohla’s enthusiasm “if we’re done with that, let’s throw another course in!”
This is the first one where I feel like I'd have ideas for both a dessert and meal based on the ingredient. (Albeit much less wild and ambitious ideas than what they actually created!)
Please never cancel this show. It is the best entertainment I’ve seen in YEARS!!!! Geniuses. So inspirational!
It shows how much love they have for each other. They totally trust each other and their food elevates from that love and trust.
This is the best and most joyful cooking show on youtube right now. Bravo NYT.
Sohla Struggles to Open Things is my favorite spinoff show
I'm only 2 minutes in, and I love that right away they are like 'YES, I WANNA GO BIG! EXCITING!' like, with Jell-o it was such a fight to figure out what to make and get the minimum required for the challenge...so now with an ingredient they like, bare minimum isn't enough to express the breath of enthusiasm they feel.
7:15 agreed i rather see the whole menu than them struggling to make it it all in an hour
This was so wholesome! I’ve always loved their dynamic when Sohla was doing videos in their home, but to see them work together and show their true culinary magic is such a joy. Please keep doing these and compensate them well!!
I love seeing the thought process and them figuring out what they're going to do. Feels very authentic compared to scripted cooking shows. Looking forward to the next ep!
yes!
Hey Sohla, if you happen to read this; please consider streaming you guys cooking dinner every once in a while. We wanna chill with no 1 hour time limit, or snappy editing, just you two vibing and teaching us by being yourselves. Thanks for these videos, regardless, you're a treasure. 🏆💖
This was an EVENT. Thank you for sharing your creativity.
I love how they communicate and work together! #CoupleGoals
As a couple, they are the epitome of happiness and understanding. Thank you for bringing this to life.
It shows you can cook with a partner, communication is key!
Hands down the best series! These 2 are perfectly in sync with each other. Hopefully they keep this show going.
I don't think you know how much I look forward to these. By far my favorite thing to watch on youtube, these two are incredible human beings and I'm so happy to support them!!!
Love seeing a husband and wife supporting each other ❤
Couple goals❤
I love everything about this....showcasing serious culinary training and time management...can I be adopted as their 3rd dog....🐶
I just love how Sohla talks to the her food. It’s just so cute and gentle and calm at the same time. Like I’d be all caps freaked out if my caramel was burnt or my meringue isn’t setting and there’s Sohla freaking out in lower case. 😂
Sohla and Ham are the epitome of relationship goals. Communication, supportive, not perfect but we made it...... I wonder if they would adopt me😂
Awe. That super supportive ending was so nice! It's so cool to see two people reaching for the stars and actually touching them because they're kind and supportive, and somehow managing to take time to have fun along the way. What an awesome pair!
Sohla and Ham are truly incredible together!!! I used to watch Iron Chef a lot and the fact that this is a meal I could *TOTALLY* see being presented on the show, but made by like 5 people, not 2, makes them that much more impressive. I love how they're given such a simple task but always go for something ambitious and creative and whimsical
This series reminds me of a wholesome, supportive, nurturing version of Iron Chef. Like without the manufactured drama and theatrics. Just pure creativity and collaboration. Love it!
I was actually concerned when I saw the ingredient because it’s such a good ingredient for both sweet and savory dishes that it risked undermine the premise. But Ham and Sigma really transformed what could have been such a boring version of this challenge
gosh their brains just work in such perfect harmony with each other.. cant even try to mimic their cooking if I tried! all natural talent and chemistry for both of them
I am having withdrawals, we need more Sohla and Ham in our lives :)
Their dynamic is so nice, like the fact that they're still sweet and chill to each other under such pressure is so good to see, and the way the communicate :) like most people, me included, get so annoyed when someone just steps in the kitchen whilst cooking and sohla and ham just thrive and are so creative together
This is pure joy to watch. The amount of communication, love, creativity, and passion is unparalleled. I hope Ham is back next season!
this was the most chaotic and impressive video I have ever seen Sohla in! Absolutely love her
this was so beautiful you guys. have watched all the episodes so far but this one just took it a notch higher. loved watching them work together and create not food but works of Art. lots of love to you guys at NYT cooking for doing this and kudos to the whole team and I love you Sohla and Ham you are the best.
Can I just say the two of them in the first frame of them saying welcome after they prepared everything they both looked SO HAPPY. Like genuinely couldn't wait to present everything.
I could literally just watch a show where Sohla and Ham riff off their weird menu ideas and I would still be deeply satisfied and thoroughly entertained.
Putting these two together onscreen is one of the best ideas y'all hav ever had
This is my favorite show yet. I'm so glad you officially brought Ham on board. I love watching the two of them together.
its not just the fact that they made all this food, BUT WAS ALSO CLEANING AS THEY DID IT ??? skills.
They are incredible. I love watching their minds work. They’re master artists in their craft and they infuse the joy it brings them into everything they do. Give me all the Sohla & Ham all the time.
